1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

Dec 28, 2008

    1. When I first started in this hobby I was dead set on two, I don't think I ever considered "just one." I thought I'd get a boy and a girl and be satisfied with that. Of course it's gone beyond that, and actually my first two were both boys, I broke that boy/girl idea hardly a month after I'd bought my first.

I'd go down to one if I absolutely had to. I can't see myself doing so unless it was a financial issue. In that case, I'd try to keep two, my Tan El and Tan Lishe. But as just one, I'd probably go with the Lishe. If it was a dream doll situation, I'd make that single doll a Tan Deneb. My reasons are just that I love my tan dolls, they'd be harder to get a hold of if I meant to buy them back later, but otherwise I just like the girls more.

    2. From the very beginning, I knew I was going to have at least 2. That number has since increased. There was no way I was going to just have one. If I could only have just one of them? I'm not sure I could even choose just one of them. Perhaps my first doll, Volks SD13 Tony. He's been with me the longest and I still buy way too many clothes and stuff just for him.

    3. No I could not. I'm waiting on a doll and I already know who I want to get next. Haha. Hopefully I can stop at 3. It's a good, prime number... Hopefully...

    4. Having one was kind of my plan when I first started researching dolls as a hobby...or at least, having one RESIN doll. Unfortunately, instead of the lone wolf I planned on getting I ended up with Yoru as my first doll. ^_^; Yoru's main focus is on his family; I couldn't very well leave the family man by himself, could I?

Four dolls in-house and waiting on another child...it's just gone downhill from there. ^_^; Now my wishlist as longer than I could possibly ever hope to fill without winning the lottery or bagging a rich husband.

    5. I planned on only buying one, but I have two full dolls at the moment and two more floating heads.. I'd like a few more dolls too. If only I had the money! =/

    6. LOL NO! I don't know anyone that has only one. I don't know how people can do it! There are so mnay that call your name. ;)

I thought I'd have one but I always wanted two girls. I now have four girls, one boy and I'm saving for another.:D

    7. I'm in this hobby since Chritmas 2010... and have already two... (and a very long wishlist) heheeee! ;-)

    8. I did exactly the same thing my dear xD I had every intention of only owning one doll
Just one that i would really love and dress up. Alas I do have one and have ordered my second haha

though the only reason i bought the one i have and the one i have just purchased was because
I completely fell in love with them! Its the only time i will purchase a doll, when I quite simply MUST
      have them hehe :PP

    9. I could, but I choose not to. ;)

    10. Definitely couldn't.. I've already decided to get one-one from each size (and 90% of them would be boys ) not to mention those beautiful anthros..... :aheartbea

    11. Could I have survived with only one doll? Probably, and if the circumstance said I could only have one doll I'd be happy with my one doll. I love her to death, I really do. But I had the money for the second doll, he was one of my dream dolls, so I went for it. But let's say I only wanted her, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with only having one. I just know myself, personally, wants more than one doll. Actually, my goal is to have one in every size range.

    12. I want only one but two...okay maybe three, but four.....five.....nah just jokin one should be good for me......should being the opportune word.

    13. I like to photograph my dolls not just alone, but in pairs! Friends, sisters, etc....so i highly doubt i could ever have just ONE.
(like chips...you can never have just one chip from a bag :P)
plus i already have 2 i FOR SURE will never part with^_^

    14. At first I wanted to buy just one BJD doll - to get sure if I even like them. But soon she needed a friend... and other friend... and sister... and so on. x) It's much more fun to photoshoot dolls together than single. I'm pretty sure I couldn't own just one doll. ;)

    15. I had one doll, by herself, about six months. Then immediately got my Obitsu. It was, however, eight years between them and this most recent purchase.

    16. I wouldn't have said this when I started the hobby, but now: YES, I think I can just have one. Because four dolls(!!) was already too many for me -- and I burned out as a result and took a dollie hiatus for about half a year. Who knows, maybe it was too many, in too short time!

Now I'm happy to just have my two, but if I have to, I can adopt out Alérion and keep Syr. Even though it'll break my heart -- but I think I can do it.

    17. As sad as it is, for Collection Black Luke (DOD) I would sell them all as I could buy them again (except for one rare boy). -_- But since that'll never happen, I only had one for2 months before I ordered my next two, I have no willpower! >,<

    18. At this point, I'd say yes.
When I started the hobby a fw years back, I wanted many dolls. more and more nice new molds came available, and I wanted to buy them. Now after few years i'm thinking it's a good thing I didnt save for them and buy them, ok I still ended up with a few, but not as many as I wanted.
Simple reason for liking the idea of having just one doll is that then he is more special. Another thing is of course that they do take a lot of room. For the past 6 months all but one of my dolls have been in their boxes, because I havent got anywhere to put them. :-S

    19. First dollie is being ordered tomorrow, but I know she won't be the only one. I was hoping I could keep it to just one because the things are so expensive, but nooooo.
Oh gee, wouldn't it be nice if she had a brother someday? Ooo, I can already see his personality taking shape... better go search for a doll to fit it.... Hmmm, and I think I need a puki at some point, much to cute to resist....
Sigh. I know myself too well - don't think I'd ever be able to have just one.

    20. Before I thought I could answer this question with a yes...not anymore..I got my second one last two months ago and now I'm waiting for three along the way!
