1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

Dec 28, 2008

    1. Just the one? Well I guess I'd keep my Sard! He's my grail doll after all!

In all seriousness though, I guess I could live with one. I find having too many very claustrophobic, crowded and frustrating in that I don't think I can afford to give them all the time, clothes and wigs/eyes they deserve. I recently slimmed my collection from 6 to 3. Partly for the money and partly because I felt that unless the dolls fit perfectly into what I had in mind they were just crowding me.
However if I found 5 other dolls that were perfect and didn't feel like just filling space then I would be happy with a larger number :D

    2. I ordered my second doll before my first even got here...lol. But I could definitely get by with just one doll. I'd probably keep Davin. I'm becoming very attached to him.

    3. It's been a few years now and I still have just one, the main reason being money I would rather work towards an apartment with than spend on another doll.

    4. I only have one bjd but I can't imagine stopping there! There is so much variety in looks and sizes that I'd love to own at least a few more. However; that's just me. Maybe I haven't found that special doll yet.

    5. Once one arrives, they could never stay as just ONE. Each time you take a look, you'll start to think they look so lonely all by themselves when you're not home and it pains you. Then the love your have for other molds starts to resurface and oh dear heavens no, you are doomed. They then proceed to multiply so fast you forget to count how many they are, such as in your case.

    6. I don't think I'd be able to have only one doll xP Unless, maybe, I bought the doll and completely isolated myself from DoA and Meets in which I wouldn't feel tempted to buy more. There are so many awesome dolls, and new ones, out there It'd be hard not to make a wishlist. I have so many ideas for dolls that I just couldn't put them in only one :D

    7. I always thought I could have just one, but everyone needs a friend! But if I had to choose just one, I'd definitely pick my Pukifee Ante. She's the perfect size, and I love everything about her!

    8. I told myself they cost too much to ever have more than one.

I ordered my first doll 3 weeks ago after over 10 years of debate and considering.

Since then I have ordered 2 more dolls.

So...for me...no. One is clearly not possible now that my willpower has given in to the urge. :P

    9. I plan on only getting one BJD, simply because I live with my parents (ah, the joys of being underage), and because they (my parents) think that they're huge cash sinks. Besides, I only really need one. (:

    10. If I really really really really really had to, yes. Otherwise, no xD That's more because I love my current dolls so much than materialism. If I had started with just one doll I could just have one, but there's no way back now D:
I honestly don't know which one I would keep.

    11. I can honestly say that I would be happy with one doll.

My first doll was my only doll for 8 months, and then I sold her. I soon after purchased my second doll, who was my only doll for 7 months. At that point I had the opportunity to purchase my "dream doll," so I did. Since purchasing my "dream doll," I have only vaguely entertained thoughts of buying another doll. I've even considered selling the second doll and just owning the dream doll, but my soft-hearted husband thinks that to do so would be too cruel to the second doll and that I ought to keep them both because nothing prevents me from doing so. I would also feel a bit guilty, because I went to great lengths to obtain my second doll; I don't want to give her up too soon and potentially regret it.

I don't think my dolls need companionship; I'm not trying to represent certain characters, original or otherwise; and I don't have collector tendencies, so one doll could suit me just fine.

    12. I totally failed at "I'll only buy one doll" Then I talked myself into "one boy and one girl in 1/3 and 1/4" and now that's been miserably derailed... Probably the only thing stopping me from having 8 or 10 is probably space, college, and not having a steady job.

Though if I had to give up all my dolls but one, I'd keep Saif. He's my first and I'm rather partial to tan. I think it is easier to photograph.

    13. you could only possess one of your dolls, could you choose?
And what would be your reasons? Size, your first doll, a limited doll
or sentimental love towards it because of who or how it came to be with
      you?

I think I could choose. I would choose the first one that I fall in love with. I Just love it so much that I think even if somehting happeneds and I have to sell my dolls away. I will keep my first one. It is not a limited doll, it is pretty common. Volks School A head and SD 13 body. I fall in love with this type of face for more than 7 years untill now I finally got one. I am really greatful about it.
The picture is on my display picture, and some how it is not showing as other DOA members.....

    14. I had planned on getting just one--a 70cm tall boy. But...my first doll ended up being a yo-sd girl. I'm still trying to figure out why I did that, since I had originally planned on buying just the one...now though, I sort of have plans for a whole family....

    15. I only had one for a really long time (years) and never thought about getting a second one. . . until I was coming home from a meet up and I suddenly was like "I want another one". So now my second doll is in layaway and I'm saving up to pay him off. Right now I'm saying I'll only have two. . . but we'll see how long that lasts. :kitty2

    16. I only have 1 (one love for all 10 of them)

    17. I have yet to receive my first dollie, and I'm already thinking of another one. I don't think I could stop at just one.

    18. When I ordered Zumi (who I'm totally in love with) I told my parents I only wanted HER.
Now I'm saving for two younger siblings for her XD
I can't just let her be alone, you know? >3>~

    19. Even before I knew what doll I wanted, I knew I couldn't have one. By time I order, I might be limiting myself to two at first. But I know for a fact I could never be satisfied with just one. Almost all of my picture and photostory ideas have to do with multiple dolls XD

    20. I'm still researching and looking around for my first, but I know myself too well... I'll definitely end up with 2, possibly 3. It depends on which I can get my hands on <3
