1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

Dec 28, 2008

    1. It could have worked if I shut myself off doll-sites after I got my first. Since that didn't happen and I like matchmaking, I now couldn't have one anymore.

    2. definitely not XD Bought my 1st BJD around mid of this year... Now I'm saving for my second doll.. Hopefully can have another one in December or January next year (^ . ^)v

    3. Yes, I could have just one. I really like my doll. I could spend a long time just buying stuff for it and seeing what it looks like with differently-colored hair, eyes, and face-ups. I mean, the possibilities are endless... and that's with just ONE doll.

I do want another doll, coincidentally. But even if I end up getting that doll, I don't want to have tons and tons of BJDs. I just want a few very special dolls, as few as possible. If you have too much of anything, you can't properly appreciate what you have.

    4. Nope, i knew better. I knew once i got my heart set on one...more woudl follow.. and i was right... i have a list, piling up...

    5. I thought of getting 'just one' and customize him if I really wanted another, when I decided to go for BJD only a week ago.

Now, while searching for 'that one doll' that meet what I had in mind from the start, I stumbled over two more, that were instant 'love at first sight'.
So now, even thought I haven't ordered a single one, there are already three dolls I want.
And customizing one wouldn't work out, because one is muscular and 'manly', the other one rather young and a bit girly looking one and the final one is an in-between. And while the first and the last share the same size, the middle one is smaller and each of them turned out to be from a different company XD

But I - perhaps naivly - think I'll stick to those three :3

    6. Having one doll is so not possible. :)

I was a ((off topic doll)) collector until I discovered an adorable Pan ABJD from Dream High Studio. I had to have him and ordered the next day. Within a week, I had a second doll (horned elf from Doll Love) on layaway.

Then... while I'm still waiting for my first babies to arrive, I discover Pukifee Ante and Luna. I'm lost... a week later I'm on the phone with DDE placing them both on layaway.

This week, I made my final payment on Pan and Luna! HURRAY! Luna was in stock and she'll hopefully be here tomorrow. (THAT WILL BE AN AWESOME DAY).

But what do I do next? I email Dream High Studios and put a Spooky Jester and an Aka on layaway.

I have GOT to stop. By January, I'll have six ABJDs. Granted, only the Spooky Jester is a full set doll (because that's the only way he comes) and none of them are hughly expensive dolls. But it's a lot and I need to cool it. :)

But to be honest with myself... all though I wanted all these dolls and justified buying them to avoid them being sold out... I think if you have just one doll, you'd probably love her more and have a deeper relationship with her.

I found with my ((off topic)) dolls, once I have more than two or three, no one really gets bonded with deeply. It's sort of sad.

    7. My original plan had been for only one, but that was shot down the drain before I even ordered her. I ended up with getting the extra body for a Soom MD and that automatically gave me two. So, I had gone with that being it, but then a few others have caught my eye, so I guess I was doomed from the start.

    8. I only have one dollie so far and I'd like to stay with only one for awhile longer x3 though I know that isn't going to happen. I've been looking at Bobobie Isabella for awhile now, I was actually going to buy her before I bought the one I have now. If I ever had to decide later on between the ones I'd have at the time I would probably end up picking the one I have currently, Roxas, because he is my first and he means so much to me.

    9. I don't think I would want one doll. Because the thrill of having one doll would make me think my doll is lonely and just having one, seems kind of lonely. ^^; I most likely would have four dolls at best. I don't want to go overboard and I have to keep my financial price at check. >>;

    10. Nope. They're like potato chips. Or cats. Lol.

    11. I might be okay with one if it was a large doll (SD or bigger) that was versatile enough to portray many different looks, as long as he or she was still gorgeous. I currently have a 1/4 sized doll and I think that's the size where they really need friends AND don't take up too much space with said friends. I guess I'd want maybe just one BIG doll (for now) and a mix of MSDs or tinies. But I don't think I could stand to limit myself to one doll unless there was a really good reason (such as financial reasons), or because I haven't bought my second yet!

    12. I thought so, but I failed of course xD Beucause who really could resist these beautiful creatures, no one :aheartbeaw:aheartbea

    13. No....Just no.

    14. Seeing as I have about eight+ of them on my dolly wish list, I'm going to have to say no. These things are addicting.

    15. If I had to I'm sure I could, but hopefully that situation will never befall to me. I only have one doll right now since I've just entered the hobby but my wishlist, while limited to only my favorite dolls, is currently at 7 dolls. As for choosing, right now I wouldn't have to!

    16. It's been around a year, and I still only have one. I would have more, but I can't find faces that my other characters well enough DX

    17. Nope... 1... or 2 is just never enough.

    18. yes of course! i only have one of each one that i like, well except for the one that came with a spare head, i had to get another body for her (so it wasn't my fault)

    19. I don't have just one doll, but I think I could choose to keep just one. I really love all my dolls, but I believe everyone has that one doll that they could just never part with. It would definitely be a hard decision though. I always thought my first doll would be the one I would love the most, but she's not. I have a doll that I have a connection with- my Pukifee Ante. I honestly think I could give all my other dolls up for adoption and be completely happy with just her.

    20. I love your answer Mollybean! Can't be more succinct than that :-D
