Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

I'd like to think so, but in all honesty: probably not. I haven't even decided on who my first doll should be and I already know that I am attracted to different things so that it would be hard to combine everything into one perfect doll.

 

Ever have just one doll? D O U B T F U L .

 

Same as many people here already said.. When i STARTED this hobby i SAID that the first doll would be also my LAST doll..
But, after some time.. I bought an another one , and said "THIS IS the last one"...
AND what happened again! I BOUGHT THIRD ONE! ..... So after that i learned something..
Dont ever say ,this is the last one. I'LL NEVER KEEP THAT PROMISE even if i wanted to ! XD It has happened so many times already and just today i realised that i had AGAIN some plans for a new dolls.
They'll never stop coming , if it depents on me XD

 

I always thought I would be content with one doll, that was until Yuki's personality came through and I knew she was missing her lil sister Haru (who still has not arrived, but they will hopefully be reunited next year).
Then out of nowhere I suddenly got 2 more girls and now waiting for another one to be delivered

If you could only possess one of your dolls, could you choose? And what would be your reasons?

I would choose Yuki (Angell-Studio Gus, MSD sized), she was my first doll and I don't think i'll ever be able to part with her.

 

If and when I ever manage to get a BJD, I hope it'll be the only one. Yeah, there are costs and stuff to be worried about, but I am also the type of person who, if I get too involved with something (generally by getting too much of it), I end up putting it on hold. For a long, long period of time.... Sometimes I don't go back.

 

I don't even have a doll yet, and I know I can just stop at one. There are at least four I want. But if I had to choose just one...hmm. Ok I think it would be Tahlia, a D.O.T. from Dream of Doll. I feel I could do numerous things with her.

 

I had that same belief upon getting into the hobby. That just the one was all i needed. Just my sweet first girl. Now its been just over a year and i have 4 with a 5th on the way (hopefully in time for Christmas!).

So no i don't believe you can have just one. Cause Really? who has one of anything?

But if i could only keep one of my little darlings it would have to be my first girl. She was the one who drew my in and kept me. If it weren't for finding her i wouldn't even be in this hobby.

 

If I could only choose one it would be Evangeline, my Iplehouse Tania. I don't have any other dolls but I do want more. The reasons I would still choose her is because she's my first doll and the one that I wanted most above all others, her size is perfect for me, I don't think I could handle a BJD much bigger than her being a shorter person and I'm prone to loosing things so smaller wouldn't be ideal either, and the most important reason is because I've put the most thought into her personality, backstory, etc. All dolls that I plan to get after her are based to fit in with her backstory and personality. She's the backbone of my love for BJD's so I guess that makes her the most important.

 

At the very least I need 2 dolls... I can't have just one and no dolly to keep him company. That's why I bought 2 dolls at the same time for my first doll purchase.

 

I could not have just one... I suppose its like creating characters for a story, each doll takes its own personality and becomes a living person inside my head with history and depth. Knocking myself back to just one would be like killing all the characters in the story, alla GRRM.

 

When I initially entered the hobby, I thought it a fiscal impossibility to own more than one doll, and, having found the PERFECT doll for me, I believed I'd be content. I still am, but I can't help that I've suddenly fallen for Unoas and YoSDs. Fortunately, I have a friend with a somewhat gratuitous and incredibly amazing dolly family, and I am allowed to "dollysit" her BJDs for a while, so that satiates my longing to purchase a new doll to fill one of the many characters that seem to have just generated themselves for Feya's story. Well, that and the fact that I'm still broke, so if I do purchase a new doll, it will be a gradual process, with many separate doll pieces. V,V

 

Aha when I got my first doll I thought all I would need is two, my baby and her prince charming. To this day I have her, and two boys, and plan on getting another soon (Its been a year and a half ish since I got my first doll) My mother just got her first doll, up until she got her DollnDoll Noel she said "I'll just get one to bond with my daughters whom both posses one" when she got her she was in complete love with her, now two months later shes scrolling forums looking for YO-SD's that look like me and my two siblings did when we were babies xD That and shes picked out another MSD she is in complete love with. Oh my sisters hand whom has had her one doll for a year, well her plans were one and only one, she has now a second on the way and picked out the doll she plans to buy next, but wait a couple years in between

 

No.

In all seriousness though, I don't think I could. Or if I did, it certainly wouldn't last very long.

 

That's pretty impossible for me. I came to this hobby thinking I'll have one doll who I'll lavish all my attention and love on. But as I dive deeper, my wish list grew and grew to 6 dolls. My first doll is probably gonna be an iplehouse Isar, she is not the first doll I loved, but she is limited....
I made a resolution that 10 is my limit. 12 is pushing it. There will be a lack of space and since I will be keeping my dolls in boxes most of the time unless I play with them to protect them from the unbearable Singapore sun, I don't have much space to spare. And I will hate myself if I can't give them the attention and love they deserve due to too many dolls.
And thus, I was weeding my wish list and removed 3 dolls from it. So only 6 dolls so far.

 

i have three BJD atm(4th is about to come x.x),when i new into BJD,my first doll is AS limited YUE..at that time i planning for just having one and planning to have others in couple years in the future....BUT lastly i cannot beat my urge for having other one to accompany my first cause it just look kinda lonely so i just having another one in few months after i have my first doll

 

No never! That would be impossible for me!
When you start in the hobby you think one bjd is all you need... but soon you realize you need more!!!

 

That's what I thought when I first got into BJDs. Just one. That idea was soon shattered though...

Me now and 5 more dolls later (one of which is ordered yet xD) ......um ya, me in early 2011 went out the window FAST.

 

I really wish I could I truly believe that I would give that one more attention than all the ones I have at the moment get all together, but on the days when I think that I can't choose a favourite and so could not sell the others!!!!!

 

It was my original intention. At my 'doll peak', I had 3 sd's, one msd, one littlefee, and four tinies.

Now, I have two Sd's and one tiny. Less is more, I think.
