Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

If you could only possess one of your dolls, could you choose?

He's the oldest doll character I have, so I guess you could say it was sentimental reasons, though
one would be really hard, because my favorite guy is one of a set. And I would really want three, because I enjoy sewing girl clothes, too

I never thought having just one, I love lots of them like for having only one XD I decided to make my character's family and then (if I have money or I finish the family(they're 5 or 6 and all minifee...)) buy these dolls I really really like

 

No. They're like chocolates once you've had one you need more and more

 

I don't really know. For me, I'm searching for the perfect doll to embody the characters in my head. It's pretty hard but I've narrowed one of the characters down to two dolls. One is 70 cm and the other is 62. Ugh, I really need to actually get a doll. =_= I don't actually own a bjd at all. Not one. Saving up still. ^_^

 

I don't think that's possible for me because there are always new ideas, new characters and new beautiful creations! but I noticed a pattern in this hobby for me. My limit is 10 dolls, no more. Once I hit the 10 dolls mark I feel overwhelmed and start getting rid of the newest dolls (the ones I haven't bonded with). That happened a few years ago and I went down to 6, it happened again and right now I have 7 dolls. Took a break of no buying dolls for 2 years and now I'm back and eagerly planning for new dolls! =D

BUT If I were to choose only one doll, that would be my first one =) I have a deep, deep attachment to this little guy, I love him like a real person (call me crazy if you want^^) if something happens to him I'd be devastated...he's my DOD Zen, Kyoshi

 

Yes, my Soom Amber. She's my first doll, and my grail doll. I know she'd be the last to go if I had to sell any of my dolls, and I honestly can say that I would feel content if she was the only doll I could ever own.

 

I think I could be satisfied with just one doll, as I still only have one right now (and have for many moons). Although I might "want" to adopt more girls in the future and actually have some on the way, I seem to mostly like getting new outfits for my one girl as of now.

 

Hmm... When I first started with the hobby, I planned to get two girl MSDs. I ended up with a big collection, getting up to about 22 I think? But it was so many dolls, I was stressed by all of the things I needed to do to them and buy for them, so I made the decision to cut back to about 15. Now that I've sold all but three of the ones I put up, I actually decided to get it down further to 10.

But just one? Hmm... If I got really, really brutal and cut out all the dolls but my very favorite, most special ones... I guess I would end up with about four or five? And there are two that are really, really special. That's my Blue Fairy Sarang and my MNF Marcia. I would be really, really upset to sell them. It wouldn't be worth the money I would get in return. Sarang is the doll that got me into the hobby, and my Marcia has been perfectly customized to my heart's content, and I adore her.

So I guess I would always need at least those two! But I see no reason to cut down that far anyway.

 

No such luck as just ONE! They are so adictive and there are so many of them you just can't choice one, maybe 2 or 3 then more. Face it, it's a never ending adding til you're broke and still wants more.

 

I wish I could. Not really sure why but I have this fantasy in my mind that maybe, some day there will be that 'one perfect doll' and it will be the only one I want.
For now though I feel I at least need a boy, a girl, a SD and MSD. So at the very least I want 2 dolls. At one point I did have my collection down to 1 SD girl and 1 MSD boy. Then I felt like they needed friends because they don't really go together.
So, I have 4 dolls
I've been contemplating a 5th for a while now too...

 

I think it is impossible for me..haha=P
I want to buy every size of dolls, at least one size for one...Want to make a big family^^

At first I was going for none. But then I got my Cookie and thereafter I was lost....
I got her on a whim, not knowing what the hobby entailed and how much there is to choose from. But then I found out and, well...see my signature ;-)

Cookie would be the one I would keep if I could only have one. And Leira. And Sahara. OK, definitely no then!

 

I have already had three dolls even before I think about this question, haha! I think the good thing is that I will think carfully before I get a doll, get enough information about the doll, and make sure I really like him, so that I will not have the chance to sell him just because he is not what I expected. But I only like large size dolls, that is sure

 

It's funny because I've always planned that I would get two to three dolls, and I don't even have my first one yet! When I first got into BJDs, even then I was a little skeptical that I would get just one. There are so many sculpts out there and they're so beautiful. I really like two MSDs and a YoSD, so it's kind of a hard to choose just one. Right now, it's which one to choose first! We will just have to see, though, as it's different for everyone. Of course, if you can just live with one, that's great. But if you can't, that's fine, too. Just remember: there is a fine line between collecting and hording.

I have 3 dolls with 2 on the way and another about to be ordered in 2 weeks. They're kinda like potato chips, can't have just one. I said to myself that I'd only get the one but I couldn't stop. Too many awesome dolls and then I fell in love with Souldoll.

My Migi Ryu. He's the sculpt that I fell in love with first. He's the doll that got me into the hobby. I still love him. I don't like the SD size but I can't give him up. I just love him so much. Ok so he doesn't have a body at the moment but I still love that head of mine.

 

I had just one for a good good while. Now at nice I've got 3 Peakswoods girls. Omg!

I think just one is fine, but it's fun to play with them as a group! Thers a lot more you can do with a group. :3

 

i'm the type of person that can't stand to have two of the same thing so initially i just thought to myself "just one would be enough, give him all the love and care etc." and as soon as i got him (iplehouse EID chase) i fell in love with another sculpt (luts SDF frey) BUT my whole 'one thing only' policy kicked in and thus i sold my iplehouse (tried but failed to bond with him unfortunately) and now frey is on his way orz;

so now after i got a bunch of clothes and things ready for him, i'm really considering getting him an SD/SD13 girl to be his partner ughhhh

i think the whole bid hobby is pretty much impossible to stop at one (for most people that is)

 

This post made me laugh. My first real BJD is on layaway now, and while I'm telling myself she will be my one and only, I have a feeling it won't be long before there are more.
