It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

Dec 28, 2008

    1. A doll friend of mine has just ONE DOLL from 3 years ago, but I cannot control myself to order other dolls. So I just control the number of dolls, e.g 5 dolls in total. Hope I will not over this number.

    2. At the moment, I have just one. A Resinsoul Yao that I longed for for years, and I love her now that she's here! I am absolutely amazed at how quickly she's become part of the family.

I was always convinced that she'd be the first, but I'm not convinced she'll be the last. I've always had a wishlist of my favorite sculpts, and I think it's unlikely that I'll stop at one.

When I'm interested in a hobby, I get really preoccupied with it, so right now I'm thinking about BJDs all the time. ^_^ If that obsession rides into December, I'm positive I'll get a second doll for Christmas. Heck, if the right deal comes around, I'll probably buy another one before Christmas!

So no. Due to my personality, I seriously doubt I'll be able to keep my collection at just one.

    3. Maybe I'm strange... I plotted and planned for ages before buying my first doll. In the end I decided (after reading forum topics like this) that there's probably no way in the world I'd be content with just one. So my very first BJD purchase was for two dolls. And then that expanded into 4 and a floating head.
But lately I find I only seem to gravitate towards one of the group. She gets all my (limited at this point) attention and I've been feeling like I would be content if it were just her. Which is funny because she was the impulse purchase, the others were all carefully planned out. I bought her to give me something to look forward to until I can see my boyfriend again (not until December!) and while it's not the same, she does help :)
I'd been planning on a different sculpt for her but at the last minute changed my mind and I can say I've not regretted it one bit. This unexpected love of my dollie life is my Minifee Shushu. She just has so much personality that none of the others have really shown me yet!

So yeah... possibly cutting the collection down to one when I started with multiple XD

    4. If you could only possess one of your dolls, could you choose? That is for sure, with one doll and buy unlimited clothes and everything for her

    5. I'm planning to get my first doll this year (probably won't arrive until next year) and I know right off the bat that I won't be sticking to one and that even if I wanted to, I couldn't. I have a plan to create a story involving each of my dolls and I already have the basis of at least 5 characters.

As far as choosing one goes when I do eventually have several dolls, it wouldn't be doable. For two reasons, one is that I'm indecisive and the second is that I'd feel all guilty and lose sleep and worry about whether the dolls that left were "happy" where they'd gone.

    6. AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA

      no

    7. The short answer is no. How could one doll roam the Earth all alone? ;_;

    8. I don't think I could ever! I adore too many sculpts. And proof of this is that about three days after I adopted my first girl, I automatically adopted another! XD

I also have 8 more girls on my wishlist, though I honestly do hope it stops there. :P

If I absolutely had to pick only ONE doll, it would actually be someone I don't have yet: Volks MSD Hisui. She was my very first dream doll (one that I really wanted to adopt), and it broke my heart when Volks phased her out a couple of years ago. At the time, I wanted her to be my one and only doll. I still want to get her, but I'll be doing that through the full-custom service at a later time. :)

    9. One doll...

Buuut seriously, for me, that's a big no. Of course, four was going to be my limit, but that didn't last long. As of right now I have no plans to purchase any more dolls, but I can't entirely rule out the possibility of that changing in the future. Never say never, and all that.

    10. I have one doll now and I am not 100% sure if I will get another.. I am a saver so spending money on just one was a huge step for me :P Maybe one day!

    11. Exactly what i did.Just searching for that ONE doll, lol.
But i now am on my saving time at getting my second doll because...
      1}The characters in her story
      2}She looks lonely
3}I want more of a verity
      So,it didn't stick in my head long!:|

    12. I just ordered my first doll about four months ago and he's still on his way to my house soon and while I wish I could have gotten another BJD...the money is just a little to steep for me to have more than one doll. Cheaper dolls could be an alternative, but they are still VERY costly. For a while, though, I may just only have one doll until I am one day able to save up and buy another one. Also, if someone is limited on space, they may only consider having one doll.

    13. Funny you should mention Shushu, because she's the exact sculpt that's convincing me I need another doll NOW. I'm convinced I would love her just as much as the Yao that's already home, and I absolutely see her in my future.

    14. I have a few dolls at the moment. And of course if I had the cash there are a few girls out there I would LOVE to own but things have changed. Right now Im broke, the dolls I have don't even have clothes right now and so it's just not fun for me. Im selling my other dolls and keeping my newest one because she's pretty much a dream come true for me. Im gonna sell my other 2 to good homes and I'll use some of that cash on doll clothes for Freya and thes rest on some new clothes for me. But really, right now I'm happy with just one. :)

    15. ; ; I can't tell for sure since I have yet to purchase my first BJD. So if I buy a bjd, yes it will be only one *_* at least with my current budget.

    16. I told myself when I first got into the hobby that I would only get one, but once I ordered him I decided I wanted a companion for him and a girl to put pretty dresses on. Who knows where I'll go from here. :3

    17. I love both my dolls :( I think it would be really really hard to chose. Id be tempted just to pick my keeping my first doll as a way of choosing. But I like having multiple dolls because its more fun to have them interact in photos

    18. With my budget, I may have to settle for just one doll for a very long time. But if really had the money and abilities, I would definitely own more than one.

    19. No, I couldn't have just one doll. I didn't even last one week before I got another! In my defense, it was an unexpected trip to an actual store where I could see and handle them in person that did me in ... that and an in-stock doll that I had already researched and liked. Still, I think one doll would not be how I like to play.

    20. Err, well, I did have one doll for awhile(almost a couple years, even), but recently splurged on a nice new boy doll! And I honestly cannot see myself stopping at 2, haha...
