1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

Dec 28, 2008

    1. lol, i couldn't. told myself i'd stop at 5, my list for who has money thrown down on them at the moment is 17. lol 5 what was i thinking.

    2. Once I bought one, it just opened a can of worms that allowed others to drop in. :) I think I could, but not for very long. ;)

    3. Interesting question from the first post. XD
I don't think I'd want to have only one doll. The more the merrier. I got my first doll telling myself I would get one to start my collection with, but if I have to choose it would be my first doll Elfred. He's a graduation gift from my parents and the one it all started with.

I don't know. :sweat Maybe because despite the fact they costs so much they always manage to make us hand over our wallets and buy another one.

    4. I have been a BJD owner for a year now and at the moment I have no less than six members of my resin family. In the early days I thougt that I would just bring a mini home to try the whole thing out, so to speak, and decided that if I liked it I would also have a SD but no more than that. So gullible, soooo gullible... XD

If I could only have one of my dolls ever it would be Hanna, definately Hanna (Dollmore's Orlando Ray), my 5th doll. I don't know exactly why but from the very first moment I picked her up from that box I knew that if I, for some reason, would never again be able to have another BJD I would be happy anyway as long as I had her.

    5. No... I didn't even make it a month before a floating head came along. But.. I guess I'd keep Rook.

    6. Maybe. I'm just getting my first, and I already am thinking about getting a DOT girl, (human Delphine, please?) eventually. Or DOC Twing-Key. xD

I think I'd be happy with JUST Oliver for now, though. My parents will probably not let me get another, anyway. Besides, I really want to spoil him- set up a corner of my room to make into his 'room' and stuff. So I think, at least for a while, I'll be happy with just one.

    7. I thought I would be content with one, then the whole idea of making them based off characters in my WIP story came about...

Lets just say Bynx will be getting to see a floating head appear soon, and then there's Elise in about a month! And to add onto that mess, has 6 more brothers planned to arrive in the future...(when I can afford/find them that is) :sweat

    8. That was actually the idea when I bought my first JD from DIM dolls half a year ago. Now I have 17.

    9. I know I have a collecting streak but I still thought maybe two would feel like enough. Mmm, well I have two now with another on the way and certainly plans for another couple this year. They seem to want to have friends.......

    10. I'm sure that what with my current status as "poor college student," I've no other choice -but- to have just one BJD. At the moment, however, I'm perfectly content since my first BJD is still on its way home to me :) Though when I've more money to spend...who knows? ;)

    11. *sigh* I remember when I first got into the hobby I told myself I'd only buy ONE doll.
Now I have two and I'm planning on buying a third.

Honestly, this hobby is more fun if you have more than one doll.
It keeps you from getting bored :)
Plus you can do fun photostories~

    12. i currently only HAVE one :D and that's fine because i only have one character i really want to personify...*knocks on wood*

    13. I've never been under the notion that I'd only have one doll. Ever since I first got interested in the hobby I couldn't pick just one x___X I'm horrible at saving money to so the second I have enough for one POOF it's gooone

    14. I probably answered this before..

I would be content to just have my May, who is not here yet. But since I already have a head here, I think I'll keep my BJD count at two. I don't like the idea of having a lot of expensive dolls. Three dolls cost over a thousand dollars, I would feel crap about that. That's money in the form of dolls, and I don't have money to use like that =P

    15. I suppose I am one of the odd ones who has one doll and no interest in getting any others. I found the perfect girl for me and would not want to divide my time and limited doll budget between her and any others.

Then again, it could be due to the fact that my wife has 5 so far and an ever growing list of ones that she wants... :)

    16. I so could never make that decision. I'd like to own a few less dolls, because I feel like I could give each individual doll more attention that way, but we've sold (or are in the process of selling) the dolls that didn't feel like we absolutely had to have them and we're nowhere near getting it down to one.

    17. I thought I would be happy starting out with just one, but my SP Roda hasn't even gotten shipped out and I've already bought a floating head. In fact my MD Ryu will probably be here before anyone else XD

My reasoning was that they need each other. I had always planned on getting my girl a male cohort so it was the timing coupled with the my currently good finances that worked in favour of that plan. And Ryu has always been my favourite boy so I couldn't resist when the opportunity cropped up.

Are there going to be more in the future? I can say absolutely yes. The real question is when ^^

    18. One? No. Two. Yes.

Not too far back I would have been very strained to answer that, but because of the circumstances of just very recently and having rethunk my current collection, I'm beginning to feel that if I simply kept myself with Fakia and Basil ( who will be ordered next week <3 )...though I'd miss the characters of the other boys, it'd still really be quite okay. I love those two more than anything else and devote about 90% of my dolly attention to them.

    19. I wouldn't like to have to dispose of all my BJDs except one, but if I did have to choose to keep only one, I could definitely do so.

When I got my first BJD, I thought she would be the only one I would ever get and ever want. I have added many more since then, but if pressed, I would still go back to just having her.

    20. I'd like to have at least two, so they can keep each other company...
      That's the way I think :)
