1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

Dec 28, 2008

    1. i thought i would be happy with one doll,my first was a msd,but then i wanted a large sd girl, then a boy,etc etc,and now i have 6,i am saving up for my dream boy at the mo,which is the luts moon,i adore him from the start, but i didnt have the funds to get him first, now i have im thinking after him i should be happy not to get more, but im not makin promises, lolbut if i had to choose 1 doll,it would be a tough choice between the moon and my lishe, they are my favs

    2. I swore to myself that I wouldn't want another one. well, my first has been here only for a little under a month and I am already having to fight the urge to put another on layaway, because I also want a girl doll. I am going to get a girl as well, sure, but I wasn't supposed to be looking into it until way later this year. :F
I just hope I will be satisfied with having one boy and one girl, but I am starting to doubt that...

everyone warned me that this would happen, but I ignored it with "hahah, won't happen to me". oh boy :sweat

    3. Much like everyone else, I bought my first thinking "Haha, everyone says I'll want more, but watch as I prove them wrong!" :| ...

      ....Yeah. Right.

My first one arrived at the beginning of August, and in late November I had another little guy on order, who arrived in early December. I guess it was because my first was a more realistic, mature teen guy and I also wanted a cute stylized little kid. Now the rest of dollies on my wishlist are SD+ sized boys (though I do want a few girl dolls eventually, just none have caught my interest yet =( ).

Oh trust me, there'll most likely be lots of dollies to come (... once I make up my mind), though not until I move out because I promised the rents Michael is my last for a while. =)

    4. I've always planned on having just one. Ive had my Ruka for a little over 2 months now (even though it's felt like a lot longer) and I am sooo happy with her! I honestly think I would remain content with just her if that was all I could afford. I am really attached and sentimental with her, I always thought she would be my one "special treasure."

However, Ive been seeing a lot of people with dolls in couples and it kind of made me want to get her a boyfriend. Sooo I have been searching and searching for a mature MSD to match her (while at the same time not seriously acknowledging the possibility of getting a second doll). I recently discovered the Lati Blue line, and yesterday I bit the bullet and purchased her a Rucas.

I still think of Ruka as my one special doll though, and I wouldn't have been too disappointed if I never got another. I am almost a little worried that I won't be able to form an attachment with my incoming Rucas because I love Ruka so much (even though I absolutely fell in love with his face and mold). We will see, maybe in the end I will end up loving him just as much and then I will fully understand why so many BJD enthusiasts have 10 or more dolls :)

    5. When I started to work I wanted only one BJd, because its cost a lot and I would like her to have clothes and everything so im keeping my money for her, BUT, I always found beautiful dolls that I want and its cost a lot I know, but I would like 2 or 3, to take care of each one I have, I think its enough for me, So I can buy a last doll, except if its a tiny size(16 cm) I could have 2 of them :)

    6. >If you could only possess one of your dolls, could you choose?
Probably no! I love all my boys.
I don't even think money could get me to sell them.
      I don't sell friends!

      >And what would be your reasons?
The only reason I would accept to part is if I have no time for them anymore and they are feeling unlucky.
But I would never only possess one. They are all pairs!
So I could have at least two or would sell all!

    7. I knew right from the beginning that I would never have just one doll. I knew what doll I wanted if it ever came down to a matter of finances and I could only afford one doll, but knowing that I would buy more than one doll I don't have that doll quite yet. Anyway, I only have one doll at the moment, but I am in the process of buying my second doll. I knew I would never be able to limit myself to just one doll. I knew the hobby would take me in completely. There were too many dolls that I wanted and hubby was supportive of me wanting them. Even though he knew it was an expensive hobby and that I would not be satisfied until I had one or two dozen dolls, he said ok, so I am going to fill my house with dolls!!!

So if I HAD to limit myself to one doll, I could, but since I have been given the ok to have multiple dolls, I know i won't be able to stick to just one doll.

    8. Not including my fiancée's dolls (she has 1 that I got her and 3 more ordered), I want only 1 of my own. In fact, I just ordered it (MNF Miyu). Together though, we'll have 5.

    9. When I got Artemys, I told my family (and Boyfriend) "Oh it's just one."
But truthfully I NEVER intended on having just one XD (I'm so bad)
At the time I only wanted one, For the moment. I knew that I would be saving up my money a few months down the road. I intend on having a decent sized family. Although I don't really think I'd want too big of a family, Even when I have like, 7 or 8 dolls, I don't think I'd ever turn down a new addition to the family. My only concern is having so many that even one of them might feel even slightly forgotten or less loved. I want to be able to love all my dolls equally, without anyone being left out.

    10. ..I had always thought that I would end up with 2. I figured, a boy and a girl. ...And now I'm looking at a grand total (PLANNED...we all know how those unplanned ones sneak into there) of...9. Likely more (but really..it's what..a 3 puki to 1 SD ratio right? So..If i divide the number by three, I'm only getting about 4..not...12...Because you can't REALLY count pukis as full dolls since I can put them in a pocket and carry around and REALLY the cuteness is so overwhelming that you CAN'T put a number on them..right? ;) )

    11. If you could only possess one of your dolls, could you choose?
      >I currently only have one doll, so of course him! I really like his mould; I think it's really cute :gingerbreadman

I really want another MSD boy doll but I feel like I probably won't be getting him soon since my parents have issues with all the prices of bjds and costs of the outfits, wigs etc =u= But I guess it doesn't hurt to save. I also feel like getting a tiny, they have such cute outfits @___@

    12. Weeeeell, at first I - afraid of the prize - thought just buying one. But when I found the perfect first doll for myself, she developed a character for herself and that character began to make more characters >.< She wanted to have a boyfriend, a little sister, friends, a new boyfriend, a girlfriend to her ex-boyfriend... And suddenly I have four dollies sitting on my shelf, just eight months after I ordered my first one plus a wishlist of five dollies with characters and, umm, a couple of dollies without characters ^^;

But if I had to let go all of them except for one, I would keep my first one, Yuki. I just love her the most, maybe because she was my first one, maybe because her character.

    13. I've bought my first doll one year and a half ago, and I'm not planning to buy a second one. I do see around many beautiful sculpts, but I don't feel like having more dolls :)

    14. Before I even looked to purchasing one I knew I had to have atleast a boy and a girl

    15. I don't think I could keep just one. Maybe one of each size if I had to & it would be so hard to decide which one's went.

    16. When I fall in love with BJD, I think I'm crazy to want more and more. I just received Bianka yesterday and I'm going to buy Kurumi... I think I can't live with only one doll.... my poor bank account....

    17. No... xD
I just got Celi less than a month ago, and I'm already planning to bring home another one, so I feel really bad about it, but at least Celi won't be home... alone all the time. ^^;; I'm aiming for a Mini-girl next, and have my eyes set on the Dollzone Shoyo~ (less 'expensive' @_@)

    18. Soom Sard in each and every appearance. I just like the mould so much that decided to buy a boy Dia, just to have someone similar to Sard ^^ Hope I'll be lucky to find hooves and horns for him.

    19. Apparently not, as I have three here and one more on the way. I'm finding them more appealing the more of them arrive!

      Hugs,

      Jan

    20. Well, being a poor college student, yes, I'm going to HAVE to stick to just one doll. Sure, -eventually-, I'm going to buy that E-an....but I've wanted her since high school, and from the beginning I knew she was going to have to wait until after I graduated college.

I have to be really careful with my budget to make sure I don't get into debt thanks to tuition fees, and unless I hit some sort of anime convention GOLDMINE when I'm selling my plushies in Artist Alley, that means that all spare cash is going to school funds, not fun funds. Dropping $600 on Lu was hard enough; I can't even begin to comprehend the $800-$900 I want to spend on Feu.

When you really think about it, I've lived plenty of years without any doll at all - living with one for now should be a piece of cake ;)
