1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Could you ever have just ONE BJD?

Dec 28, 2008

    1. Oh god, I dont think I could have just one! Ill be ordering my very first doll this March (as a late birthday present from my parents~<3) and I already have plans of who I wanna buy, when I wanna buy them, etc.
So yeah, I dont think having just 1 would ever be good enough-at least not for me XD

    2. @-@. I haven't even gotten my first and I'm saving for a second. HOWEVER, unless I see another sculpt I just can't resist I probably won't go after a third for a while.

    3. To me I must at least have a pair. It is sort of hard to just talk to one doll. It is so much easier when there's another to play role play with. And when I don't have time to spend with them, they can play with each other. One would just be too lonely. I only have 2 (on their way here) and both of them are my firsts, so it's kinda hard for me to chose between them as I have intended them to be twins.

    4. See, right NOW I only have one doll, so if I had to choose just one, it would be her. But I think after I acquired several dolls, I wouldn't be able to choose!
Even now, I'm saving up for my Shall, then a MiniFee after that, more than likely. It's really fun and rewarding; I don't really know if I could handle just having Allura now, while still seeing all of the beautiful dolls that are still being created! O.o

    5. C: I successfully own just one.

And she's enough by herself right now. I don't have the money for another doll, or anything else that it'll need.

I have thought about getting another, though. But that won't happen for a LONG while. Not with my financial situation as it is.

    6. I got my doll in December...i swore she would be my one and only....and now I have two pending order lol.

    7. Hah lucky those who can afford so many dolls ^^" In a month I have for living something like 200$ total for everything like food, clothes etc ;p Lucky I don't have to pay for apartment - YET

But I got two guys and to be fair I don't need anyone else! I have one BB and one DOT and I'm happy with those two. Not one, of course, but I don't need to get more ;]

    8. Now that I have put the the last down payment on my volks masha, my dream doll... I could care less if I ever got another doll again...

I mean every other doll I look at now, doesn't even peak my interest.

Of course that could change, but right now I think I could be okay with just one doll.

    9. The answer for me is uh-NO!!!

    10. Heh, I'm in the same boat! I'm still waiting for my first to arrive, a DZ Shoyo, and I swore up and down that I only needed one. In fact, I couldn't have imagined why anyone would want more than one! Oh, silly me! ;)

Now I'm waiting for my Shoyo and saving for a MNF Shushu. :sweat But I'm stopping after that, at least for quite awhile. I haven't seen anything else that I have to have...besides, I've been spending way too much on clothes and wigs to afford more than two dolls!

    11. Everyone who gets their first BJD says "JUST ONE". That never works. Ever.

Although right now, I'm feeling like 'just one' is where I want to be. So I'll offer my two cents:
In 2005 I bought my first doll, then about 8 months later I escalated the collection up to eleven before 'starting over'. I started over several times after that, grew frustrated and more and more indecisive. I lost that feeling of joy and the special bond I'd had with my first girl in all the fluster of trying to own more. I couldn't divide my attention whenever I had more than one. In the beginning, with just that first doll, I had adored her so very much.
Since my new Ryu just came home, I'm feeling an awful lot like returning to those days, and just having my one doll. It's not about the money for me, it's about the sentimentality. When you have just one, it's more special somehow. Or at least that's how I feel. *shrug*

    12. You know... I think I *could* just own one if it ever came down to the wire. I know which one too - my Maki T. (he's like... the holy grail of dolls in my humble opinion... :sweat) I can definitely see the benefits of just owning one - I feel like it would be easier devote your attention to just one as well as investing in making it *perfect* (as in, the right face-up, eyes, hair, more expensive clothes maybe... *shrugs*)
Having said that, I don't own just one. *sweat* But I can see how it might simplify things. :)
      -V

    13. I could be happy with one, but I really would like another one.
I haven't even received my first yet D:
It's hard to say no when you fall in love with a new doll.
I think that I would have to say no, though, if money was a factor, and I couldn't afford it.

    14. Right now, I think I would be super pleased to have just one! Since I have zero. But, like most things with me, it will probably become an infection and I'll buy more. just WAY in the future.

    15. I have one girl at the moment and still waiting for my Puki Madeleine. But I am already planning to get a boy... I hope I can stop there... But then, that's what I said about buying camera lenses too... hahaha!!!

    16. Isn't that like asking if you could ever have just one pair of shoes or eat at just one restaraunt all the time or wear only one brand of jeans...etc.?

There are too many options to limit yourself to just one. :sweat

    17. I don't think I could ever own just one BJD, because each one is so different from the other in terms of style, personality etc. and I like exploring those things in their characters. So by collection is destined to grow~!

But I if absolutely, positively had to make due with one one doll, I know EXACTLY who that would be, though thankfully there hasn't been a situation where I've had to sell them all.

    18. So far I'm pretty content with just one. There are others that are calling to me, but every time I think about saving for another doll I remember that gas is going up and heat is going up and my daughter's college expenses are going up, and the guilt at spending that much money on something non-essential takes the fun out of it. Plus there's something special about bonding to just one--like having only one spouse, or one best friend. Mine is a Lati Coco, and I fell in love with that little face like none other. So I'm okay with just spoiling her rotten and making her my one and only.

Don't get me wrong--if I won the Lottery I'd have more dolls in a heartbeat!

    19. Nope!! I wouldn't go overboard with lets say...more than 10 dolls:? (even if I won a lottery or found lots of money). These dolls are like eating an expensive tube of pringles...you just can't have one.

    20. right now i only have one. At this moment i want like 3 to 4 other dolls:sweat and once i get a job (hopefully in a few months:|) I'll start saving up again. For now my intention is to start buying loads of clothes for sayuri
