1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

CP Delf Discussion Part 14

Sep 14, 2023

    1. Oh, they're adorable! I love the black and white theming!

    2. Hello~ I need a little advice from anyone who has/had Delf Type 2 or Type 3 hybrids that don't use the CP neck mechanism.

So... I've been looking for a body for my Type 2 Breakaway head and I'm leaning towards a non-delf body, but the big hole in his neck to fit the delf neck mechanism has posed a bit of a challenge in how to fix/string the head to the body. Since it's almost impossible to find a neck mechanism secondhand, I have settled on using a neck donut. However, the donut sits on only a small portion of the resin which makes me worried that the uneven pressure over time might deform or break (?) the neck part in the long run. It works for now since he's just borrowing a body so I don't keep his head strung this way for long, but for his actual body I'll probably end up leaving his head strung to the body for LONG periods of time (like months to half a year maybe) so I'm a little worried.

Does anyone have experience with Type 2 and Type 3 hybrids without using the neck mechanism and was this ever an issue over the years? I've been thinking about it for a while and at this point I can't tell if I'm overthinking things and getting overly paranoid *_*

Anyway, here's the gap that shows the neck donut only sits on a small portion of his head...

Any help or experience is appreciated! Thank you :sweat

    3. I have so many donut babies. I love that turn key mechanism but it makes hybriding such a pain. I will say, I've had dolls using just a donut similar to yours keep their heads on just fine with zero damage for years (10 years for one and 15 for another!). I've seen no evidence of stress on the resin donut or the doll's head. The main issue I have is actually that the donuts are too big and get in the way of putting their head caps on. (For that I put the head cap on upside down and try to use donuts that are a C shape instead of a circle for more room.)

If you're still concerned, you could look into getting a bigger donut, or making a custom one that's a little wider to offer more stability and distribute the pressure more evenly. I've seen people do this with clay or 3D printing!

    4. I currently have 2 type 2/3/fairyland heads on other bodies without a turn-key and haven't run into any issues with the neck donuts breaking. My Elf Yder has been on his current body since 2017. My neck donut seems to be a bit different and bigger than yours (just the standard kind bought from companies like Luts)

It is a bit annoying and his head tends to snap forward or back, but the body is wired so I'm too lazy to restring him with a spare mechanism I have. On the flip side, my Feeple Shushu doesn't seem to have as many issues on her Luts body

    5. Thank you! It's assuring to know you've had dolls using donuts without issue for 10+ years! Yeah, my neck donut is just small enough that it gives the headcap enough space to stay on (with some tape to hold it securely). I bought some other donuts but they didn't fit inside his head with eye stems and his headcap on the right side around lol

Thank you for sharing your experience too :) I didn't even realise my donut might be a bit smaller than what one would get from Luts. Might get that if I have enough items for an order from them to see what's the difference. It's good to know a donut works in the long run though the neck might be a bit snappy (?) I suppose that might depend on the head/body and stringing tension too.

    6. Hey all! Any recommendations on body swaps for older Delf girls? I love my DES, but I wish she posed better! She's NS and I don't think there's any yellowing. (I'd keep her original body for Completion Value- I collect antique dolls, so I know originality matters. But I'd love to be able to photograph her doing more than lying down, sitting, or standing)

    7. Hi, I think using a Feeple60 body would be aesthetically pleasing.

    8. Do they pose well? Is the resin a good match?

    9. Haven't posted in a while but here's my Juri 05 Nova

    15. Hello! New to the thread:).
I was wondering if people could post some pics of their tan Els.

A tan El has always been my grail (never seen him come up for sale in almost 10 years:...(), and somehow this week I've got a bee in my bonnet after seeing a ns El for sale (it'sapretty good price).
So I've been wondering if i love the tan that much, but for some reason, I'm struggling looking up pics of tan Els, so I'm asking here for pics, bonus if it's a comparison between the 2 or if they have their original faceup :D

I love seeing any El though:lol:

    16. Not a tan El but I always love to show off my monolid El when folks mention love for the mold :)
