I like to make moodboards, and sometimes even crafting a room for them ! The crafting takes enough time to help the wait for me !
I'm waiting on my first doll now. Right now I'm focusing on wardrobe planning (since sewing clothes and dressing up is the main reason I want a doll), but maybe I should also be spending some time on deciding what his face and hair will look like. XD Luckily, I have plenty of time for that too.
I usually sew at least one casual outfit for a doll while waiting. It also means I don't have any naked dolls!
I have the head, so I'm doing everything I can with that while waiting on the body. I'd like to make something simple so she's not sitting around naked when she gets here, but I'm skittish about it without the body to try it on as I go. Maybe I'll make an oversized nightgown with waist ties so that the fit doesn't matter? Also ditto to mood boards but I've been doing aesthetic boards using Milanote! Gathering examples of outfits I like (doll and non), wigs, etc. to make planning cohesive looks easier. I found when I was more actively into Lolita fashion this helped me figure out what I could DIY or make better use of my existing stuff. It also helped me to spend less on stuff I wouldn't use by seeing how it fit into the whole wardrobe. So I'm hoping it can be helpful in the same way with dolls.
