It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Crobidoll Discussion Part V

Dec 14, 2017

    1. @Grimalkin Thank you, I hope I find a closed-mouth Daydream Lance. Unfortunately modding the sculpted-teeth version isn't going to fly. I have personal, admittedly irrational reasons for refusing to own any kind of open-mouthed/toothed doll, and I'll always know what is underneath any mod.

May I ask - how different is cookie cream from soft white? It seems that cookie cream has a browner tone? I'd love to see a comparison between your Lances if possible!

    2. I understand - no worries! I swear more of him than I care to admit have slipped through my fingers in the second hand market, I'm somehow always just a little late, so I was very happy to finally catch one, but... the resin is very unique.

it is a really beautiful colour, like a very soft pale grey brown.

I can take a picture of them together, no problem. my soft white is from 2022, been in the box the whole time but he might be a little mellowed. the hard part is lighting, I have to dig out my soft box so it might take me a little bit to get a good shot.

    3. Thank you, I'm asking mainly from curiosity since it's such a unique colour, there's no rush at all. :3nodding:

    4. @aihre - just a tiny update, and so sorry to have to say that I'm having some trouble locating my soft white Lance. I've had to pack up a lot of things to paint the room, thought I'd be done by now LOL and meanwhile unlabelled boxes got jumbled around :doh. I'm also missing the cute little NaNa boots I got in the same order from Crobi, hoping they are together.
found the soft box light at least . meanwhile, if there's another maker WS resin that's similar to the soft white you would want to see with the cookie cream, I can check if I have similar, just let me know.

    5. @Grimalkin No worries ^^ Do you have Dollstown/Dollshe old fresh skin?

It's identical to Crobi soft white (my girl is hybrided on a DT body and the colour match is practically perfect). This old freshskin dates from around 2008-2017, before Dollshe/DT changed the formula in 2017 to something more pink-hued. So if you have old fresh skin, or something in your collection that is close to that, it should be suitable for a Crobi soft white dupe.

Thank you again, and if you can't manage it, not a problem at all. As I said it's mostly for my curiosity, but maybe it can help with hybriding too.

    6. @aihre - good news! I found the missing boy, and also a Dollshe Mystic 2017 Fresh.
my lighting is terrible, I apologize in advance. I can tell you neither Lance matches the DS Fresh. DS Fresh is pinker than the WS and the Cookie Cream is like a tan-grey. A slightly pinker toned faceup would be easy to match a WS to the DS Fresh.

I am unsure of the WS I have is what's called "soft white", the COA just says "white" and I would class it as creamy like Doll Chateau/Doll Zone and not as yellow as my Soom cream white (which might be age of the Soom).

this pic seems to show the best what I see with my eye. I have more of the head with the body, if you or anyone else wants to see them. Was interesting to see the DD head was larger overall then the standard OE Lance. The white background shows the cookie cream tone better than the grey in my other pics.

    7. Thank you so much Grimalkin, that's a great comparison.

The Dollshe/Dollstown vs. Crobi comparison makes sense to me. I understand that Dollshe/Dollstown freshskin after 2017 is more pink-toned, while pre-2017 freshskin is more yellow-toned/creamy. My Lance girl has practically perfect match to her Dollstown body -- both parts are around 2008-2010 vintage so that wouldn't work now.

Cookie cream is so interesting. It has that strong grey tone with a touch of brown. I'm now wondering whether a very pale grey body might work for resin matching/hybriding, since there are more grey-skinned dolls being made nowadays. Withdoll and Switch are offering grey on the regular, so maybe a bit of strategic faceup can help to blend the brown-grey of cookie cream to a grey body?
It might not work so well though - maybe a very light tan is better...

Can't talk about my Lance girl without sharing pics... here's Syr.

    8. my "ancient" Lance which has a faceup is often on a Doll Chateau A-body-02 - both are very "mellow yellowed" so they work:)

for the cookie cream boy, I too had been considering a very light grey and toning toward the brown tone as well, since so many tans have that orange undertone. finding this in the right shoulder ratio, well that's the challenge, eh? I was surprised how small both heads looked on the Mystic since they look so large on most everything else. there's a couple on my flickr, one of each head while holding the other. guess they'll be body shopping

So nice to see your Syr, her wig goes so nicely with her faceup. something about the little pinky finger arched out on the magazine too, just perfect :3nodding:

    9. Yeah, I think you may have better luck finding a match with a grey body than a tan one. Talking about colour temperature (warm vs cool colours), cookie cream looks pretty cold in temperature, and I think most tan bodies would be too warm. The only tan I can think of that may come close is Switch's milktea rose - I have a MTR-matching doll (ie. it has no Switch parts but is made by a company that resin-matches to MTR, there are a few out there) and the tan is quite dusty and cool. It may still be too warm and saturated for cookie cream, but probably worth a look. I can take comparison photos between my soft white Lance and that doll if you like.

Lance on Dollshe Mystic, oh dear  the shoulders are getting wide but I think the neck thickness is the main issue. If you want him more realistic proportioned, I think he looks best on 64-68cm -- IIRC Crobi's R-Line body is 66cm tall. But the neck thickness has to suit.

And thank you, I'm glad you like Syr :3nodding: I commissioned her faceup and asked the artist to match that exact wig. She gives me a lot of joy, after all these years I still feel really lucky to have a Lance.
