The link just takes me to the Imgur home page, too. Are you supposed to have an Imgur account to see the picture?
Poor Celeste, one of my Petite Ai Gariel's, got knocked off her shelf and slid face first down between the cabinet and the wall, scraping her faceup. @dbfalcao came over for a dolly-day a couple of weekends back and offered to repair her faceup for me, so took her home to work on and my little girl is now all fixed up and pretty again!! (sorry it's a bit blurred - my camera is crap and my photography skills are worse) Teddy
I think the imgur post got blocked for nudity because if definitely worked before and immediately after uploading the body pics. I have now uploaded them to a private webhost sooo... This is the original Ange body: This is the one from 2010ish: @Teddy She looks great! She didnt have to redo the faceup? I didnt know it was possible to just repair them. My Hanael has a tiny chip on her lip that has been growing a bit over the years.
She sprayed over the chips with sealer and repaired the damaghed areas, as far as I'm aware - I wasn't there to observe the process. Teddy
She’s so pretty I’m glad the faceup was able to be saved. I might have to wipe my Ruciel’s face because I noticed some mysterious stains recently, but I’m hoping to do a repair. My Raphael, however, long ago yeeted his faceup and I never really replaced it in a satisfying manner, but I just bought a new airbrush to replace my old one and am going to try to learn to airbrush on the cheeks like the company faceups have. I imagine it’ll take some practice but it’ll be worth it to have him looking similar to my other petite ais again
Fingers crossed for the repair! Good luck with the airbrush and Raphael. Luckily, for me, my Raphael and my other Gabriel are still doing OK with their original-to-me faceups from back-in-the-day Teddy
I took a look at your flickr to see how she looked after the unfortunate fall and omg wow you really cannot tell after the repair what has happened She is sooo beautiful, and in my opinion the slight blur in the photo makes her look absolutely ethereal! I'm so in love with this picture
Thank you so much. This is really helpful; will compare to my friend's doll. I think she is likely 2010+ but now we can confirm it! @Teddy glad your girl's faceup was repairable! She's adorable
Thanks! My new airbrush and compressor finally arrived today, so I can get practicing the CH style. Part of the issue with my Raphael is his resin seems like it may have been bad to start with, because he shed his faceup really early on and when I went to try to de-yellow him a couple years ago, I found he kept developing an oily coating. I may one day have to get a second Raphael but for now I’m hoping he’ll keep his faceups on longer
Aww... Thanks! Yes, I'm very lucky that @dbfalco was talented enough to save her Thanks! How did you de-yellow him? I soak overnight in Polident denture cleaner and it has worked well on some resins but not on others. My Raphael could do with de-yellowing (althougfh, that would mean she'd need a new faceup) but I don't know how well the oldest CH resin does with Polident cleans. Fingers crossed that the opily resin problem has been sorted and the new facup will stiack! I;'ve not heard of that issue before. Teddy
It was a while back and I believe I was using an oxygen cleaner which was heat activated, similar to how people de-yellow old keyboards and abs plastic. I kept getting a scum rising to the surface of the pot, which at first I thought was old sealant but realized it wasn’t. After a few cycles of washing it off the doll, I realized something else was going on and connected the dots back to how easily his faceups had sort of peeled off his face. I’m pretty sure the deyellowing solution didn’t really make contact with the resin long enough to do anything because of the oily scum that kept seeping out. lightly sanding is the only thing that’s been effective so far but I don’t want to change his facial features, so it’s not a good option. I may just paint him entirely and then faceup over that, I’m not sure, or using an acetone carrier dye to just dye him darker entirely and not worry about yellowing
Just a theory, but - It might be worth trying a polident bath in case that will clean the oily residue off (it's intended t CLEAN dentures after all) asmwell as de-yellow. I make up a washing-up-bowl of water before going to bed, drop in several polident tablets (turns the water blue), and add the resin pieces while the tablets are still fizzing away in the water, and leave it overnight. After breakfast (the water has returned to clear) I empty the bowl and rinse off the pieces (sometimes I use a toothbrush to ensure all the polident has come out of the crevices like ears and nostrils etc, but I don't think that's actually necessary - just me reassuring myself.) These dolls are such cuties, I hope you manage to get the oiliness off your Raphael so he can be properly finished Teddy
I'm very excited because I have two Petite Ai's on the way! One is a Petite Ai Uriel with her original face-up. I got her at such a lovely price as she is a fair bit yellow, but that doesn't bother me! He name will be Kathleen, and I've got a lovely volumnous brown wig for her Not sure what eyes she will end up with though! I also have a Hanael head which is on a kids-sky body, who will be called Hotaru. She will be a little sister to my doll Natsume (Myou Michelle). Can't wait to share pictures!
