1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Customizing: Do it yourself?

Jul 17, 2011

    1. Does customizing help you bond with a new doll?
No. I don't feel this need to 'bond' with an inanimate object. If I am going to invest the money into getting a doll, I better like it. There is nothing that's going to serve the purpose of 'bonding' because I don't understand the whole idea behind it.

Does customizing help you get the results you want?
Yes. Sometimes. I am a lot harder on myself than I am with other people so I will keep going until I think it's perfect with my own work, where if I'm giving it to someone else to do, I call it good and am happy with what they did a lot easier.
I also feel like it'd be really hard to track down someone to do tattoos that I designed when I can just do them myself pretty well.

Does customizing help you save money?
I'm sure it has saved me quite a bit of money in the long run, not to say that's why I do it.

Does customizing help you express yourself artistically?
Yes. Dolls are art projects to me. That's kind of the point of them. I am a costume technician and designer by trade so I tend to express this more by sewing, but I certainly do it by actually customizing the doll too.

    2. :chocoberry Bond with a new doll?
Most Certainly bonding happens, you spend so much time staring at her/him, you feel like you know them!
:chocoberry Get the results you want?
I wish I could get the results I want, but I'm not very experienced yet, so it's a little shaky!
      :chocoberry Save money?
No, I didn't care about that, I didn't get the faceup for the sole reason that I didn't want to wait any longer!
      :chocoberry Express yourself artistically?
Can't wait to feel confident enough to express my artistry!
