1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Damage That You Have Used As Character?

Aug 17, 2015

    1. Has your doll had a accident that left scratches or chips that you have turned into a character mark?

Aka like the scratch right above Natsume's eyebrow. He fell off his shelf about a year ago and even though I freaked out at first I like how it looks now.

    2. Justin arrived with broken fingers, so I wrote it into his story while waiting for the replacement hand. I said he fell while being mobbed by fans (he IS a pop star!) and landed wrong, bringing two fingers. I even made him tiny bandages while he 'healed'. The time it took to get the replacement even took about the same length of time it would have taken for real fingers to heal!

    3. Oh that's cool! Love to see a pic.

    4. I've done this - I was painting a doll head when I noticed a couple of small dings in the resin, so I painted them in to be small scars. :)

    5. We're actually keeping an eye out for severely damaged dolls (and parts) in order to do just this!

    6. I broke my doll Olivia's arm piece a few days after receiving her. After I repaired the chip, I blushed over the line and made it into a scar, and also wrote into her story how she got the injury. I think the best thing to do in a situation like that is to just roll with it. :3nodding:

    7. Broken fingers, totally. Shana (RS Fei) had a magic-related accident, and Twisp (DZ Renata)... well, she put her fingers someplace she shouldn't have. Sharp teeth and poky fingers don't match.

    8. When I did Rowena's first faceup (unidoll Suri) it had a dust fleck in it that I turned into a beauty mark. Now every time I redo her faceup I include that mole... She just looks odd to me now without it.

Similarly, when I was doing the paint and faceup work on my tan FL Minifee Mir/ka mod boy Arkady, the paint got smudged near his mouth, but it left a rough spot that looked more like a real scar than anything I could have done. So I left it in and even emphasized it, since he's supposed to have a lot of scars.

    9. Shermie's wrist was damaged due to a friend trying to be "helpful" by helping me restring her. Against my demands to just give her back and stop before he hurts her, he decided to use pliers to pull the edge of the elastic through. But to my horror he clamped down on her wrist. This created a gouge in the resin which is now from a fight she lost in her story

    10. When I bought Teiwa (my Feeple65 Chloe), I knew she had a small scratch on her shoulder from when her previous owner was sewing a dress and accidentally scratched her with a needle. The character already had a scar somewhere else, so I just moved it to her shoulder to match her resin version. I ended up liking it better on her shoulder in the end so a happy ending, haha.

    11. My tiny guy Train has a permanent cast on his left forearm. When I got his body in a trade I didn't realize that his body was unevenly yellowed and slightly dyed pink from an outfit (he is white skin). So I took him apart to clean him up and lost his left forearm part -he is 1/12th scale so it is very tiny. I made a new part out of epoxy and it is more opaque than the resin so it stands out. To explain the difference I decided to make it a cast.

    12. My Gawain fell over at a convention and broke 2 fingers off of one hand. As he is an AS Limited 50 Tan Gavin from 2009, replacement hands won't match. So, in his story he lost them in a fight.

    13. I totally love this.

You're very modest because these are all stunningly applied scars. I hope my attempts at scarring look half this good!

When I first got into BJDs I learned about the inevitable yellowing and chose a character with a corpselike/sallow complexion to work around it. He is indeed pretty dang yellow now and is destined to be much more corpse-y.

    14. Ooh, I have one! The resin on the connecting part of my girl Fuchsia's foot broke, I tried to repair it twice with epoxy glue and with milliput, but the break is on the pressure point of the elastic so it didn't last either time. Feeling a little fed up with the foot, I decided to make her a peg-leg instead. It has a ball joint at the knee so she can wear it straight or bent, it is made out of turned dowels and is stained and varnished and awesome and makes her look, as my best friend put it, like "Victorian Grindhouse". I can't imagine her without it now.

    15. I really really really want to see this, it sounds incredible. :o

    16. I bought a well loved DZ, Cloud off Ebay and he and arrived covered in dents and scratches. Old and yellowed as he was, sanding all that out was not an option. I painted him up to be covered in thin scars. He pulls it off well.

I also have a Dollmore, Zinna that came with two left calves (third hand, no papers, Dollmore can't help). It doesn't affect her looks, but but she has a lot of trouble standing. I want to make her a fancy prosthetic to replace it.
