DayDream Dolls Discussion Part 1

May 10, 2013

    1. The longer I play about with my Juliet, the more I realise how infuriating the Daydream bodies are. Although incredibly beautiful, I find it almost impossible to pose with any sort of emotion. There's no dynamics. I first noticed this with the limited wrist movement, but there's super limited head movement too meaning they can't tilt their heads or really look up, down etc. It's a beautiful, beautiful body, but when it comes to posing, I'm not sold. :\

(Really sorry for the double post, I was trying to add to my previous post but his quote instead of edit (on tapatalk app), I'll put a photo in to make up for it...)

    2. I just bought a DD Coco. Don't find the head movement bad at all. The wrist is a bit confined, but I'll be sanding the round wrist ball a bit to take care of that.

    3. I have problem on the head movement too.
She have a wide range of movement on the leg and I quite like it , although it make her hard to stand well.

    4. I found that adding silicone washers on each side of the joints and at the neck helped really well.

    5. I'm glad to hear not everyone has the same problems. I only really have BF bodies to compare to, so when I say the neck movement is restricted, I mean compared to BF (and actually, I find there's a difference in neck movement between the old TF heads and the new magnet heads). Anyway, thanks for the tips guys! I wonder if the restrictions vary between bodies.

    6. I don't know about Daydream dolls, but I'll share that for my BlueFairy TF girl and boy I get pretty frustrated myself with the head movement if there's no sueding or stringing adjustment. I think stringing tension can likely play a big factor in how the head moves, and sueding can really help to improve potential issues. My TF girl's head tended to always swerve fully down or up, never just looking straight forward or slightly tilted. I hot glue sueded her neck/head socket and it improved significantly, but the sueding now has worn off and her head posing still seems much better; perhaps that stringing tension has adjusted since back then! My boy's head also has a tendency to 'snap' back into certain tilts/poses straight out the box, though not as bad as my girl used to be, so I've yet to bother sueding him.

Though there are too few face sculpts for Daydream for my liking (being a new company, of course I understand, but I like choices), I've been admiring Daydream since they first came out. I thought the bodies looked beautiful and the style of the ball joints looked really cute and classic, but hearing so much mixed response to the posing kind of turned me off the dolls even more, haha. Posing is obviously not high on my priorities, being a BF loyalist, but I kind of expect at least as much basic poseability as BFs from any other potential dolls =P . But, I really do like the shorter Girl body and the sleek-looking tall Prince body. All the height differences seem sooo cute. The Coco head sculpt is currently my favorite, because it reminds me a lot of Louis, but since I'm already planning on a BF Louis, there's currently no other DD head I'd be interested in!

I also love a lot of Daydream's shoes and clothes, but the prices are a bit rich for me still, haha.

    7. My Juliet has been dispatched! I wonder how much the ransom charge will be...

    8. Congratulations!! I hope you don't get one, my Juliet came straight to me with no charges! I can't wait to compare since you asked for custom make up (and I've asked for custom make up on my Evan and Grace heads too so should be interesting).

    9. Daydream has released a new body with improved stability. I wonder what this means??

    10. Thanks for the update! They're also doing a choice event including snow white skin.
I was going to buy my Evan a Prince body first, and buy my Grace/Sleeping Coco head a body after that, but now... I don't think I'll have the funds to buy a fair lady body in the preorder period, and I won't buy the old lady body if they've renewed it, so I've asked them when they're going to be selling it normally, but you can bet it won't fit in with my plans of ordering both bodies before my heads are ready so they can ship them all together. I've also asked them if they're going to do the same with prince body, since I was going to make that my priority and if I buy it then they announce it's renewal I won't be happy!

    11. Wow, I'm stoked to hear they're updating the bodies! I'll be excited to hear any new owners' thoughts and feelings on the poseability in the future. The body still looks as pretty as can be too.

Aaaggghhh, I'm sin itself, hahaha. I've said for years that the BFs in my plans now were the only dolls I'd get for the far future, but a Daydream girl and prince pair have been creeping into my mind lately. Maybe a few years from now, when my BF crew is locked down and quite comfy and DD has updated all their bodies, haha, I'll do it. Already cooking up names and everything, hahaha. If I got a DD girl, she'd definitely be named Poppet, and her favorite color would be purple...

    12. I hadn't really thought the bodies needed updating. I had thought about what could make them better, but not to the point of needing renewal! Either way, it can't do any harm to improve things, after all, they're a new company and still just finding their feet.

I'm really happy for you finding some sculpts you like Almyki, I can't wait to find out who's caught your eye!

I've given myself a stern telling off, I mustn't deviate from the plan! If fair lady body puts a small spanner in the works, so be it, I'll just have to wait longer for that body.
      Priorities should be priorities!!

    13. Oh I hope mine gets through with no charges, I did ask them to mark her down if they could. It's not just the extra money we have to pay, it's the extra time while they are stuck in customs!

    14. The extra time is definitely the worst thing Jupeycat, once you know they're on their way, you don't want any extra delays!

I heard back from Daydream, they don't know when fair lady body will be on sale (which is a shame), but more importantly they said this:
"We are developing Boy body at this moment, but it might be different with Prince body."
BOY BODY GUYS! And they usually release the new bodies with a new sculpt to go with it (like Juliet on Girl or Ryan on Prince), so that might be something too. Either way, boy body! Do you guys think it will be short like girl body, or more of a height with Lady body? I kind of hope it's short!!
Either way, I'll still get Prince body for Evan, hopefully it'll suit him better than it suited my Sally.

    15. So I just tracked my doll and she's out for delivery!!! :O

    16. Fantastic news!!! I'm so excited for you!! Will we be getting some photos today? ^^

    17. Oh she's gorgeous, I know she's the same doll as mine but she looks so different, she's really sweet! I wonder how the face up compares to the default.

Oo! Today Daydream emailed me to say they got my sleeping Coco head, this is my first time sending a head for face up so I was ridiculously relieved she made it!

    18. SO busy in last week, I just notice that DayDream have a new body but why can't they release earlier :(:(:(
I have sold my white skin Juliet once to change the skin type to normal skin.
At these time, I don't think I can sell the body again... as the skin colour of DayDream is quite different to other company. I think it is very hard for me to just sell the body........
The new body is great, I love that it add a half-ball join to connect the thenar and the lower leg. I think it really can improve her standing.

It is happy to know that DayDream is developing the boy body^ ^
Although I am not good at take care a boy doll, I still looking forward to see others boy DayDream doll.

Jupeycat, your Juliet is beautiful~ Very happy to see more Juliet~
Last_bus_home , I am really happy that DayDream can do the face up for you. Looking forward to see your Sleeping Coco.
However, the shipping is really longer then I expected.
I know that Air Mail from Japan to Hong Kong usually take less than one week, so I didn't expect that it take near 2 week to ship to Korea.

    19. PaiPai, is your Juliet on girl body? I think if you did try to sell girl body people would be interested, it's such a cute height and it seems to match well with some of the bluefairy resin (although I'm sure it depends on the year).

It did take a little longer to get to Korea than I thought but I didn't mind, I'm really happy to know it's there safely now though!!
