1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dealing with impatience...............

Nov 10, 2015

    1. I recently ordered my first doll and I've probably got a good 1-2 months before he arrives. I haven't been given the tracking number yet (because he hasn't been shipped yet) and I've already spent the remainder of my doll savings buying a wig for him so he doesn't have to be wigless once he gets here. I am dying of impatience here and it's only been a few days! What do you guys typically do while you wait for your dolls to arrive? Do you take your mind off of it? Do you prepare for them by buying/making/planning clothes and accessories? Do you watch other people's doll videos on Youtube (I've been doing this too, but I think it might actually be making me more impatient)? If I have to wait until the end of December/beginning of January before he gets here, I'm not sure what I'll do until then! lol

    2. I get very impatient too so what I do is talk a friend or coworker's ear off explaining what I have planned for the doll; what kind of wig, eyes, and clothes and backstory. Another thing I do is go to work and school. Those two things keep me really busy to help keep my mind off my doll. When I have free time, I try to keep my mind off of the new doll by drawing, sewing, photography, or playing video games. And since it's holiday season, I've been making Christmas presents for all my friends.

I like to watch doll videos on youtube too but I see myself getting more impatient or wanting to buy another doll or doll clothes while watching them. But don't worry, you will getting your tracking number quite soon.

    3. i become a permanent fixture in the waiting room thread. lol but also what the person above me said about trying to keep busy in my day to day life. if i try my best to get my mind off it time goes by quicker

    4. I write their character compulsively. I had a doll I waited from June till October for, and he was a fullset, so I didn't need to order him things, but I did find props and sketch some design concepts for wings and the like.

    5. I just try to put it out of my mind. 1-2 months is nothing; I've had to wait over a year for a couple of my dolls! If you enjoy writing you can write up character profiles or even start working on a story featuring your doll. A lot of crafty people will sew or make props to pass the time.

    6. I've mostly been making and buying props, but character building is a good idea! I want ot make a scrapbook type thing with all my dolls/characters described in it. :)

Over a year?? Maybe this is a newbie question, but if you don't mind me asking, do you know why it took so long (was it extreme customizations that needed to be done or maybe a bad experience with an irresponsible seller...)?

    7. I've been busy working on making a little space for when she gets here. Talking to other people in the hobby about their dolls and about the plans I have seem to help as well, but it is a bit of a double edged sword. It distracts me but I can't help but become even more excited for her to arrive!
Though..... now that I have a notice that it has been shipped, I find that it is a little harder to be distracted. I didn't think I'd be so obsessively tracking the box!

Seriously?! I couldn't even imagine having to wait that long and being so nonchalant about it! I think I'd be way too impatient for that!

    8. I wait. Sometimes I sew things but usually I get on with my life. There's a lot of things that take a very long time, and waiting is part of life, so waiting for a doll is hardly any different than waiting for anything else I am excited about. It won't come faster if I agitate over it.

    9. After waiting 6 months for a doll, 1-2 months just sort of flies by for me. I don't really even think about it in such a short wait period anymore. XD For the longer wait times, I usually spend it preparing. Buying/making clothes (though it's harder with a first doll when you don't know what to expect yet), picking out a name, developing the character, choosing shoes and accessories. I roleplay most of my dolls, so I'll play the character while waiting on the doll. It helps me bond before even having the resin in hand.

    10. ! - 2 moths is a pretty short wait in this hobby! It is hard but you get used to it. I spend a lot of time thinking about them and their character and planning what will do with them when they finally arrive. I talk in the waiting rooms and to other doll owners that i know. I also try to get cloths, wig, eyes and maybe some props together. I also look at a lot of pics of the sculpt i'm waiting on in the photo spam threads.

    11. For some reason, I didn't realize people discussed their orders in the waiting room. LOL When I got there, people were just keeping track of when they ordered, when it was shipped, and when it came.

    12. I look for things for the doll. I am obsessive about scale. I look for furniture, and dishes, I make doll food, I sew doll clothes, I hunt for shoes, I shop for wigs. I make the doll a complete set of jewelry. I paint, and I read a lot to distract myself.

    13. I saw a tutorial last night on how to make doll rings. I would start on that, but I have no idea how big his fingers will be! Lol

    14. The dolls I've waited longest for were made by a single artist and had some very intricate, lacy parts so were difficult to cast and finish (sanding all those teeny lacy bits took hours for each part, I'm sure). I knew going into the order that it'd be a loooong wait. A lot of doll 'companies' are really just one or two people working in a studio- so if the artist gets sick, or there's a natural disaster in the region, or some other emergency it makes the wait that much longer. You have to have patience in this hobby, otherwise the stress will drive you mad!

    15. Oh, I see. I didn't realize these companies were so small... I had a feeling it might be like that as I've been researching the hobby recently, but I wasn't entirely sure.

    16. I have been waiting 11 months for a doll! But you know, it's really not that bad. I think it gets a bit easier once you have been in the hobby longer. The first couple of dolls were the hardest because I was just SO excited! But, after that I have something to keep me busy while I wait.
Plus! It gives you time to save up and buy some really nice clothes, wigs, eyes, etc!

    17. I would like to take this moment to officially take back all my whining and sighing and refreshing my order page to see if anything has changed. Do you mind if I ask where you ordered from?

    18. That would be Dollshe! But, I know that when I receive my order it will be phenomenal quality, so I'm not worried. Truthfully, at times I've completely forgotten I've ordered! Haha! But, I think now that Dollshe has finished the molds things will go much quicker for any new orders.
I have complete trust in Dollshe!

I've waited 8 months from two other companies as well. Both of those were harder waits because I didn't have as much confidence in the company and their quality... Sometimes just looking at pictures from the companies can help so much! And DoA is the best! You have others that are waiting too that support you along the way!

    19. Oh man, you know, I didn't get the gravity of the disappointment it must be to get a doll with noticeable seams or other defects until now! I would be so angry if I spent so much money and waited so long for something that was less than amazing...

    20. I just looked up dollshe and they are gorgeous! I can kind of see why you would wait that long for one of them.... <3

That's true. I joined back in July and sort of lurked around a bit for information. Since I ordered, though, I've found I've been on here and participating more. I'm really enjoying it but it wasn't until I had ordered and was trying to distract myself that I started to try and do more. Everyone has been super friendly which definitely helped with some stupid fears that I had XD
