DearMine Doll Dear Shine Line

Nov 24, 2012

    1. Belle, my Ophelia, has arrived
      [IMG]
The Dollmore MSD sized shoes did not fit, drat it. I should have been more patient. So close, but they just barely miss going on her feet. I did find one pair of SD shoes, I think!, that fit. Ankle boots. I'm wondering now if maybe Madame Alexander's Cissy shoes might not fit her. I'm going to locate a pair and try.
EDIT: Nope, Cissy shoes are not a go, either. Maybe Tonner American Model? They are 72mm.

    2. Thought I'd pop in and share my Diana hybrid ^^ She's a F.rose head in fine normal on an Impldoll Model body in real skin. (The resin doesn't match well, I wouldn't recommend it to others with this Diana head ^^)

    3. Very pretty! From here, it looks like a fairly good match. I love your Diane's face and especially her beautiful ears! I was hoping to get some optional ears for Belle.

    4. By any chance, has anyone ever put a 70 cm doll beside a Diana and seen what they look like together? Do the proportions work side by side, etc?

    5. I used to have a Dollshe boy and a Lishe together. I could show you a pic, I think.
The proportions are about the same and they did look pretty good together. He was so tall and lanky, she looked petite and cute with him.
I don't know if that helps or not.

    6. It sort of does, thank you.

    7. Oh wow, I haven't popped by this thread for a while. Bit of catching up to do here ^^

Damasquerade, I love your girl's eyes, they suit her beautifully! Are they Souldoll Bling eyes? Or are they possibly Pabol or other similar anime acrylics (Pabol make the stock Volks & SQ-lab sell from what I understand).
I wanted light green eyes for my Diana too to match her moss green blushing so bought Mako AM-21s http://makoeyes.com/shop/step1.php?number=227&b_code=B20111022113722 assuming they'd be just right / subtle sage green but they ended up being soft teal blue...lovely colour, but not what I was after.

sistercuervo, Belle is gorgeous! I hope you'll post more pics of her soon as I'd love to see more :kitty1
I have a question for you with regards to the Dear Shine body...are you having knee buckling / kicky leg trouble too? I was trying to pose Catherine for photos yesterday and she just did not want to stand at all, until I used a 1/4 scale doll chair as a doll stand (I need to find a good 1/3 scale doll stand, I think, and to do a bit of sueding as well)

Here's one of the photos that did work out:-

    8. Catherine is stunning in violets & pink, JenKat You take such wonderful photos.
Belle is a bit tricky and I did notice that kicky thing happening on her, too, so it must just be the they way they are. She's lots easier than my Limwha girl, who is a real rat fink to pose. ;D
It's like wrestling with an octopus. The one piece torso really helps, I think. Limwha has all those torso joints and she flopss & kicks.

    9. Awww, Thanks sistercuervo ^◡‿◡^ You're too kind :kitty2
Yes, I do have to admit the one-piece torso at least means one less part to have a life-of-its-own :P There's a big local craft fair coming up in early March that usually has a big doll presence (hopefully still does as they're been taken on by a new events co-ordinator this year) so I'm hoping I might find a good stand there, which should help with some of the kickiness issues hopefully.
And I'm jealous, I'd love a Limhwa girl (Dreaming Half Elf is one of my grail dolls)! I see you have a gorgeous Luna - at 57 cm do you mind if I ask what a her proportions are like compared to Belle?

    10. Very similar, although Limwha's head is considerably larger. I'll post a couple of others in the photo thread so we don't get into trouble:
This is the third Limwha I've had and they are beautiful, but..that arched back just snaps like crazy, then her knees pop loose. Be prepared if you get one.

    11. sistercuervo, I could swear I responded to your post yesterday but it seems I didn't :? Silly me probably hit "preview post" and forgot to hit "submit" :sweat

Thank you so much for the comparison pic, that's wonderful! Wow, so very similar proportions there by the looks of things, despite your Luna being a little larger. The hips and shoulders are particularly similar in proportion along with the shape of the thigh by the looks of things, even if the Dearmine body is a little more rounded / smoothed out and simplified, which just seems to be one of the main characteristics of Dearmine's style. Both beautiful girls in their own right there :)

    12. I agree, Jen & thanks. I must say, DS fits better into standard SD13 clothes, whereas the Limwha is quite large in the chest, making things that are fitted too small (Dollheart, for example) She also has a large bottom and finding jeans can be difficult. I don't mind DS's stylized body, although I just adore the Limwha hands. They're so pretty. I forgot to mention, she's regular resin, not French. The Mono Limho I had was lemony after no time in the FRench.

    13. Just a quick warning to anyone with Dear Shine girls on the cat girl / Diana body to be very very careful when hooking and unhooking your girls' tails as the hook point at the base of the tail is very delicate. When I was changing Catherine recently I went to remove her tail and sadly this tail joint point snapped as I went to do so. Sadly I fear it was only a matter of time before this happened as the hook point was very very fine and delicate, hence why I would suggest to anyone else with one of the cat girl bodies to be very very careful with it.
For the time being I have left Catherine without a tail and don't plan on buying a replacement as I fear it would also have the same problem. I am considering trying a metal jewelry post in place of the fine resin one that has broken on the tail end, or even a steel dressmaking pin to give a more secure base for an s-hook to latch onto but I haven't been able to bring myself to try it yet.
Has anyone else with the Dear Shine cat girl body had any tail trouble?

    14. Oh dear! I'd be tempted to replace it with a magnet, although it'd have to be a strong one to hold her giant tail in place, I reckon. I thought they were hooked into place for some reason, like the Pipos cat tails.

    15. Wow, that's too bad about the tail! Did you contact Dear Mine to let them know this is an issue, JenKat? I imaging they would like to know to avoid this in the future.

    16. They do hook into place but not in the same way that the Pipos Pi cats do...there is a seperate tail nub / base that is hooked into the body much in this same way, but then the main body of the tail hooks on to that. This makes this larger portion of the tail easier to unhook / remove for changing clothes, or at least should. This 2 part tail is more in the style of Pipos' R.Pi, M.Pi and Option Part Large tails, only that the tail base nub is threaded directly into the boll body rather than magnetically attached.
I'd be tempted to try the magnet option but I am afraid that would also be problematic after past experience with Pipos' M.Pi and Option Part Large Tails ie. the strength of rare earth magnets might just be enough to hold the tails in place without moving it but with a larger, heavier resin tail + gravity, posing the tail is almost impossible as any movement and the tail tends to want to fall off. Hence, why I'd want to try look for another hooked option first.

I haven't as of yet but I will message them as it is definitely worth their knowing it's a possible problem or something worth looking at.

    17. I thought I should add a couple of pics to show what happened to Catherine's tail damage and better illustrate what I was planning and have done as a fix (currently waiting for epoxy glue to properly so I can test and show you how things went).

Firstly, the break (this is the pic I sent to Dearmine for their own record):-

Now, as for what I have done to the tail, here's some links to my Pipos Cheshire's foot / ankle joint with metal pin threaded through:-
      http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac354/nekoparadisedolls/PiposCheshireFoot_1_zps1f402b37.jpg
      http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac354/nekoparadisedolls/PiposCheshireFoot_2_zpsb2495806.jpg

Basically, a hole has been drilled through from one side of the top of the ankle joint and partially into the other side, just big enough to thread a stainless steel pin through and glue it in place. This then makes a much sturdier s-hook attachment point in a tiny or delicate joint part than a very thin tube / tiny bridge of resin.

I'll post up some more pics soon when I'm done with my tail fix for Catherine and will let you know how things went ^^

    18. Oh, now I see what you meant. That does make a ton of sense. You could easily cover the metal dot on the outside with a tiny spot of epoxy or some such. I had to check out the tail assembly on my Cheshire. I surely do hope it never comes off, as it appears to have a similar resin bar inside. I do wish his tail was magnetic.

    19. The good thing abouth the Pipos Cheshire tail is that the tail can be easily unhooked from inside the body (and only hooks on with elastic / no s-hooks) by lifting the torso joint for this purpose. You sadly can't do this with the Dearshine body due to its completely fused torso. Hence, the tail hooks on to a tail stub outside the body via an s-hook.This could be a really great reason for a hip joint in the Dearshine body though, to do something similar to the Cheshire / Pipos Pi cat body.
I also wish Pipos would do the same with the RPi and M.Pi kitties as an option. Magnetic tails are great in tinies or for kitties with very lightweight tails (like the Dear Lover cats & foxes) but the heavier and longer the tail the harder they fall when magnets fail.
On a side note, I would love to see Dearmine do a lovely poseable jointed tail for some of their bigger (Dear Lover / Dearshine) cats as I love the jointed Pipos Pi cat tail I have on Mr Scraachee, my Cheshire...so fun to pose.
