1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Did you play with dolls as a child?

Mar 3, 2012

    1. Not really, I mean I was more into transformers. but I had a few barbies but I was sort of abusive toward them :sweat

    2. Yes, I went from: Pumpkin Patch - Baby Born - Doll House - Barbie - MyScene - Bratz (growing up)
Then about 5-6 years later of no dolls. I surprised myself of buying Bjd's. (:

    3. I owned and played with Barbies but never considered myself much of a doll person. I didn't care for baby dolls but liked stuffed animals. Come to think of it, my preferences haven't changed much; I bought a stuffed octopus just this weekend.

    4. Barbies. bratz and things like that were my main play things.

    5. With plastic animals in rooms for dolls.

    6. I have always had a lot of dolls. I enjoyed making clothes for them. Some of my dolls travelled with me. I've always loved to play with dolls. And now it`s my hobby.

    7. I had some dolls (or rather, my Mom got some dolls for baby me) as a child, but I totally preferred trucks and swords (and later guns).
Not sure why I suddenly went all girly-girlish as an adult.

    8. Yep! All Barbies wete always redressed into the clothes they came in and stored in travel cases after each play. All shoes, clothes, and accessories were accounted for before being packed up for the day. I never cut their hair or altered them in anyway.

I was such an odd child...

    9. I never had any dolls as a child, but when I was in high school a friend and I realised we'd both never had a doll so we went to Woolworth's and bought one of the cheapest barbies to share! We took her out with us all the time but she never had any other clothes than the dress she came in. She did come with several pairs of shoes though!

    10. Yes, I was a very big fan of dolls as a child! First I had Barbies but then, when I was a little order it was Bratz and I really loved my Bratz (I actually only just sold them a few weeks ago (money for first BJD!))

Despite this, I also really loved boys figures, cars and trains. Basically my toys either had to 1) Look like humans or 2) Have wheels.

I think that my love for dolls really did get me into the BJD hobby because, as I got older, I began to use my dolls to represent different characters I had within the stories I created. I never really stopped enjoying my Bratz for this reason. So when I discovered BJDs, I realised that this was the hobby I had been looking for, I just hadn't known it.

    11. I was never into Barbies. I played more with Batman action figures with my brother, and then Lion King figures as we got older.
I'm not sure what's drawn me to BJDs, but I'm not upset at all with my choice.

    12. When it comes to playing with dolls, I was not your typical little girl as a child. Maybe it is because my mother did not especially like dolls, I cannot remember a single one I loved. My grandmother once gave me one, but I never played with her. I had lots of My Little Ponies, though, stuffed animals and toy cars. Until today the only dolls that have captivated me to the point where I can say I am in love, and that I find truly beautiful, are BJDs.

    13. Yes I had a few Barbies, with house and horse and also one larger Doll and my mother sewed clothes for it :)

    14. I like writing. I'm looking at creating a character in the novel. Dolls are my room got on the desk: D

    15. I've played with dolls as a kid, but I did play with pretty much everything I was given. :')

    16. I hated dolls as a child. They gave me the heebies, and many of them still do. I can't stand baby dolls or porcelain dolls. Just thinking about them makes me shudder. However, I LOVE anime, and many BJDs look like anime characters. I love having a real life anime character in the living room in 3D. I like being about to change looks and shopping. My dolls an wear things I can only dream about. :) I dress vicariously through my dolls because they have the figures to wear some of those fantastic dresses I love but cannot wear. Well, I could wear them, but it wouldn't be pretty. :?

    17. As a child I played with Sylvanian... had their house and all the furniture, that was fun, I loved them. Then when I grew up a bit more I had some Barbies and ponies, I loved the ponies but barbies meh, I kinda mistreated them and didn't like them that much. After that, I decided I didn't like dolls at all, they were girly and ugly for the most part (seeing those old porcelain dolls, meh). But yeah... here I am xD.

    18. I was really into Barbies as a kid. I had an American Girl and some other miscellaneous 18" dolls, but they were expensive, so there were only a couple of them. I used to play big games with a whole cast of characters, so the crapload of Barbies I had was more suited to my purposes (also occasionally the stuffed animals or dinosaurs; anything I had more than 10 of worked). I ended up discovering BJDs through anime and since I just dress up/pose/occasionally photostory now, only having a couple BJDs works out just fine :)

    19. I owned a lot of Barbie dolls when i was a little girl, I even had lots of Paper dolls ( Does anyone in here played with paper dolls? >.<)

    20. I used to make paperdolls and paper horses all the time. I never liked baby or infant dolls, but I loved Barbies and porcelain dolls. I made them furniture and clothes and little houses. Now I spend all my free time sewing clothes for my BJDs, and hunting for wigs, and shoes and props and furniture for them. I am at least consistent in my interests.
