Did you play with dolls as a child?

Mar 3, 2012

    1. I remember playing with barbie dolls owned by my sister. All I did was strip them of their clothes and put them together with the ken dolls, naked. LOL

I played more with plushies than dolls, really. In fact, I thought dolls were creepy and smelled weird so I disliked them!

    2. I was really into dolls when I was younger. I especially loved felt dolls and Polly Pocket and while I did play with Barbies and Bratz, I never really did like them as much because they were bulky and their clothes and shoes always fell. I moved unto Sylvanian families when I was a little older, but stopped because of how expensive it was. Now that I'm trying to get into BJDs...I realize that everything I want from them now is what I disliked when I was a kid: big with clothes and accessories that you can take off.

    3. I ignored dolls when it came to playing. Oh yes, some got decapitated. In the meantime, dressed and looked at, and put back aside. BJDs were a revelation to me.

    4. I played with baby dolls...
I had polly pockets and playmobil to if they count?
well, I had action men and barbies but I don't remember playing with them much apart from the pregnant barbie... because I went through like a phase at around age 8 or 9 where I was obsessed with pregnancy and babies and I literally don't know why haha!

    5. I played with all sorts of dolls when I was younger. I had an imitation American Girl doll, porcelain dolls, Japanese wooden dolls (kokeshi) and of course Barbie dolls! I actively played with dolls until I turned 12 years old. As an adult I am more interested in the customization of dolls as characters and collecting.

    6. I played with barbies a lot when I was younger and I had two American girl. I do still have my collectable barbies and one of my american girl dolls. I also had polly pockets when they could actually fit in your pocket. ... I really I miss my poll pockets now. >.>

    7. I had a ton of Barbies when I was a kid, and little Sailor Moon dolls ( sailor mars is sitting on my bookshelf as we speak.)

    8. I had a few Sailor Moon dolls and some Barbies, but they went on adventures with my Batman doll and solved murder mysteries. My parents loved it, to them it was me being creative and they were super supportive of that. :D

    9. For sure. I am almost 29 and I still have most of the ones I played with when I was younger. Just missing my Ken doll, being a boy I wasn't allowed Barbie but Ken was okay. XD

    10. I had a whole five set of boxes of barbies when I was little  my grandparents would send me barbies every Christmas and on my birthdays or just special occasions from abroad. I think I still have some that I haven't opened yet :mwahaha

    11. Oh, absolutely. I collected American Girl dolls. I had five, I think? And so many clothes, accessories, and furniture. Dolls were a big part of my childhood. I think I also had a lot of Barbies, Bratz, and MyScene, but they weren't as special to me. I collected Monster High when I was a little older, too. I also got a few antique porcelain dolls, but I was always too nervous about those to really enjoy them, they were just for display. I guess I'm just meant to always have dolls in my life. :)

    12. I didn't play with dolls as a child. I liked stuffed animals but dolls were not my thing. I wouldn't do anything bad to them, they would just sit and gather dust. I had a step mother who had two boys. Brandon was the smart one, Kyle was the strong one, the only thing I was good for was being 'the girl'. As a result I rejected a lot of what being a girl meant in her eyes... including dolls. I began to like dolls in the 8th grade when I began to really develop anxiety and depression issues. BJDs came in to play my sophomore year of high school in 2011. I didn't buy one (due to anxiety) until June 2014. My dislike of dolls as a young girl doesn't negatively affect my love of the hobby at all. I take my dolls out. I'm not ashamed to tell anyone about them. Perhaps my aversion to dolls in my youth makes it easier to accept dolls as a hobby as I don't see them as for children exclusively at all.

    13. Not really, I had some dolls, but when I played with them a while I got bored
They wasn't moveable like BJD (especially the hands) so I didn't played with them much I got angry when I cant move them like I want :XD:
I'm really glad that I finally find BJD's, I always wanted dolls who are moveable, that makes so much fun if you want to play with them :love

    14. I did play with one Barbie - I had the peaches and cream barbie. But I didnt play in my teens, and then I slowly began to realise I like miniature people i.e. BJDs and sos here I am!

    15. I've always loved all sorts of toys. When I was like 5 I would play with dolls, toy trucks, and toy swords. Actually, as an adult I still love swords as well as dolls. But not trucks. Sorry, trucks. I was obsessed with Japanese mecha, though. Still love those.

When I was 9 I wanted a Barbie so bad, but we were so poor all my parents could afford was dollar-store not-Barbie. Does anyone remember those cheap knockoff Barbies where you would accidentally push the chest in and she would have a concave boob forever? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

    16. I hated barbies as a child still do, I had one or two baby dolls but I was mostly a teddy bear person. Ball jointed dolls are pretty much the only dolls I find aesthetically pleasing.

    17. I played with dolls when I was a little boy. My parents noticed I wasn't like other boys from my age. And they were right, I'm gay so I think it has something to do with that. I'm not saying that every boy who plays with dolls is gay, my parents noticed because of many other reasons

    18. I played with Barbies and dolls like that. I would pick my favorite and give her all my attention.

    19. My sister was the girl who really loved barbie in our house. She traded her toys for my dolls. But we did play with them together. They did a lot of adventuring.

    20. I liked fashion dolls. It was how I learned to sew. I still have a couple of my dolls from when I was younger.
