DiM (Doll in Mind) Mini Discussion Part 6

Denny said he would re-ship my order, so if he does have the heads spare to send then that's good, but it's costing him more money when this was done as a favour to those who appreciated DIM dolls sculpts. If the person would be happy to ship them to me all Denny would have to pay is the shipping cost of getting them to me which would be less than reshipping new heads internationally. But they've had them since the 4th and not even contacted Denny about it. :/ So I'm not sure if they will be honest or just keep them to possibly sell on.

 

@Rinoa When you say you think you know who it is, is it something you can prove and you can make contact with them? Or just extrapolation?

I’m doubling up on my encouragement to post this incident in the missing and stolen dolls thread. Your heads are missing! And if they are not returned, they are then stolen! Nobody buying them on the secondhand market wants to be buying literally stolen goods. You should post about the incident already honestly, in case they pop up on sale in the meantime. This will help people know they should exercise caution and ask to see receipts if buying.

 

It's impossible to 100% prove it, but I checked the name the tracking said on acceptance against the Facebook BJD groups I'm in and also if they are from Wales and found only one person with that name, who has DIM Dolls. So I just sent them a polite message to see if they can help.

I don't want to jump to conclusions yet, I have asked Denny to confirm that the tracking he sent me is the one that was meant for me (as it's possible he did both sending me the wrong tracking from someone else who ordered, and shipped my heads to the wrong address). Once I've got some info I will post there, thank you for letting me know about that thread!

I second the advice of making a post for missing/stolen dolls, if/when you feel comfortable doing so. I get so stressed when my dolls are in transit, I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now!

 

So he just replied with my tracking number and no confirmation about whether the original tracking he gave was mine or another customers, so I asked again

 

The reply I got was "not to that person, different country"

So I assume this means the tracking I got was not mine and when he sent mine he sent them to the wrong country. Sadly I won't be able to post about this as they could have gone anywhere. Fortunately he is able to resend so hopefully they will arrive safely.

I will say I am wondering if maybe Denny forgot to ship my order. Since I had to email for my trackin and he said he'd already sent me an email with the tracking , and that tracking he gave was for someone else who he said he got me mixed up with. And he was able to resend despite making a fixed amount. Either way, I'm glad it's sorted.

 

I forgot to update, but they arrived fine, I'm so happy to have them! Ace definitely looks different to Julis but it's easier to notice in person

Thanks both! Now to find bodies. I'm sure I got the answer before but my memory is terrible. What is everyone doing for their white skin heads in terms of bodies? I think I recall someone saying Charm Doll matches, but I'm not 100% sure (again, terrible memory)

 

Hello! I haven't been around DoA for ages, but I wanted to share my DIM Jullis. I've had him for years, but I've only just finished his look a few months ago. I had the hardest time finding a body that fitted his large noggin, but fortunately I saw a Jullis on a Myou boy body (old type) that looked great, so Myou is what I ordered.

This is Agravain. I still have to make a knife to hang off his belt, but apart from that, I think he's quite ready .

 

@Rinoa Im trying two new hybrids (not common on DoA) I’m waiting on a WS Universedoll body for my Jullis. The white looks close to the older white IMO plus I like the sculpt of the body and it’s measurements are very similar to DIM’s old boy body. I wanted a mini body that at least had the same shoulder width or slightly wider and the UD body has it at 10cm

For my WS Larina, I’m hoping to get the Guard Love body (just waiting for next sales event to start). I decided this body because it has a lot of cute hands to choose from.

@Sigune your Agravain is wonderful I absolutely love the way you styled him, with that luscious hair and warrior like outfit- he just looks so cool I want to see his knife accessory when it’s complete

 

@Rinoa in my experience Dollzone white is a good option! However I think DZ might have changed their white resin in the last couple years. The body I have is older than that so I am not 100% sure if it's very different from the newer white resin.

@Sigune - he is AMAZING - the wig, and wow I loooooove his clothing. Did you make the clothes yourself? They're so lovely. I have been wanting some similar styles for my dolls, but it seems I will have to learn to sew and make the garments I am envisioning myself!

 

Charm Doll does NOT match! Here is a photo of my Jullis before I dyed them all. It’s a great hybrid, but no, the white skins don’t match at all.

Hi all! I was wondering if DIM head sculpts have a logo or a sculpt name inside the caps? I have been eyeing some on the secondhand market but I’m very wary of recasts ^^; the ones I’ve seen are totally blank and want to see if that’s standard.

 

yeah they're blank. Least the gayane I just took off my shelf to check is lol. Nothing on the back, nothing inside.
and all of mine came direct from DIM.

for whatever reason they don't have markings. Dunno why. Which does make figuring out recasts rather awkward. They should all come with a certificate though. It's a little card.

 

It's always best to ask the seller for provenance of the head, especially since DIM heads are so heavily recasted. If they have a good reputation in the hobby and can provide where the head is acquired (like PayPal confirmation/purchase receipt), that should be good! As Purple Monkfish also mentioned, the heads come with a CoA, but it's a very generic card without any specific identifying information. Regardless of what head you buy, you get the same card.

I've bought from DIM throughout the years. Some had pencil writing in Korean on them and others came blank, but my orders from the past few years all came blank with card.

 

When I ordered in 2019 during their closing sale, the heads did have a card. But I remember ordering some years before that and there was no card. So if it’s an old head, it might not have one.
