It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

DIM Tom Hiddleston Discussion Thread

Feb 15, 2013

    1. Oh really? :D Wellllll then let me sneak off-topic for a tick to pick your brain! Riddle me this, Volksmaster: have you come across any sort of comprehensive Volks size chart masterlist in your travels? Trying to keep all of their body styles straight is next to impossible for me lol. I mean, I had never even heard of a SDGou until just now! Guess I'll be adding that one to the Spreadsheet of Torment[SUP]TM[/SUP]. :D

There's a fine line between just tall enough and a bit too tall, and if this is labeled correctly, I think your SDGou Yukinojo would look perfect next to the Feeple65 body! SD17, Super Gem and F65 are all in the same relative height/size range, I think? You can make it work, don't let those two royal brats tell you what to do! :D I'm just hoping that a IH Dexter on the Superhero EID body won't be too...enormous next to a Super Gem. Three and a half centimeters in height isn't a lot, but when the whole body is that much beefier all around...yeah. >.>

Hahaha all right, definitely staying far away from the comics if I can expect even more painful feels. >_> These two rat bastards will be the end of us all...

    2. I'm going to be in Japan next week and will be visiting the Tenshi no sato in Kyoto, and some Sumikas in Tokyo (using them as a starting point for exploring). if people want measurements or something maybe I can help?

Kim, I hope you don't feel I maligned Thor, or your preference, that was not my intention. It's a bit of a running gag for me on Tumblr, to tag the main subject in a photo and use #and that other guy when there are other people in the pic.

I have a love/hate relationship with the movies since they are just not very good plot- and story wise, but I love their portrayal of the characters.

The comic art style just isn't my thing. There are some artists I can stand better than others, but on the whole, no.

    3. Haha I was so slow posting Kim you got in before me! Yukinojo has a great face :aheartbea I don't actually know a lot about Volks and had to look him up. His eyes are a good size. That is one thing with the IH boys they have small eyes. I could have gone for a EID for Thor but I just couldn't resist that Claude face. Because of that large MNM head Loki is actually fractionally taller than Thor so I tend to place him slightly higher or on something. (just don't let him know I told you that!) as I like Thor slightly taller too. I would love to see you do the comic version and those costumes do look a lot easier to make. The facial hair had me stressing so I told Angeltoast to just give him a gingery three day growth and I was so happy how he turned out. You won't have to worry about that either.
I can see why you like that boy of pepstars psychobarfly, he does look amazing. I will tell Nanook that when he photobombs on Loki he needs to learn where to stand to be in proportion so he can play Fenrir! IH Dexter will look really solid next to supergem but I like Thor looking big. I don't own an EID boy but I can put Thor next to my SG boy so you can see a SID next to one if you like.
Stella! You lucky thing!!! I would love to go to Japan one day. I also love the relationship between Thor & Loki more than the plot of the movies. Oh yeah and of course the eye candy factor:D

    4. psychobarfly - Indeed I do! http://www.superdollfie.net/hajimete/sdtype/ is a good overview. It's not perfectly exhaustive since some of the sizes have a lot of variety within them, like SD girls have quite a few different body types within that size that have been produced, but it covers all of their sizes and has a decent relative size comparison shot there. I'm gonna have to visit my friend with the Gou boy and really take a bunch of shots to see how it looks.

Oh man, the movies get to me, the first time I saw Thor I burst into tears and basically kept crying to the end of the movie, but the comics just....do not play around.

Stella - oh no offense taken! I find though that for whatever reason, people assume you are a Loki and ONLY a Loki fan when meeting people talking about Marvel, and that's just so weird to me because Thor is a great character. And really odd when it's me speaking to people at cons and they're like ugh who would like Thor? and I am like well, me, for one. I have a large visible Mjolnir tattoo lol The movies have really interesting ideas, and Hemsworth and Hiddleston have amazing chemistry so the two brothers really sing and I think all of the actors with the exception of one really do what they can with the material, but yeah, they drop the ball a lot on really fleshing things out or going for it plot wise. TDW was a pretty big disappoint for me. I've set my expectations really low for Age of Ultron to try and avoid any more disappointment.

I am jealous of your Japan trip. It's been so long since I've been! And I was just getting into BJDs then so even though I went to a Dolpa and a bunch of Volks branches, I didn't really know much about the hobby and held off on buying anything.

The great thing about comics is the artists are so varied so you can always find one you do like, and recently Marvel at least has really been exploring younger artists with a lot more variety in their styles.

Kavarr - She did a great job with the stubble on your Thor. He turned out really well, so I am glad you are happy with him. EIDs are so massive that one prob would have looked a little off size wise, at least to me. Tom is actually about the same height as Chris, and he's not a little man either. They could share clothes pretty easily. And ok, I know I complain enough about how heavy the Feeple65 is, I can't imagine having to lug around an EID all of the time.

    5. RIGHT IN THE FEELS, Kim. :(((((( Ugh, those two. I just want to wring both their necks! That nifty Volks chart does begin to make up for it, however - thank you for that link! :D If you ever happen to find anything that gets super specific about the particulars of Volks sizes, feel free to send it along at any time! <33 This is my hardcore style of crazy: SIZE/COMPANY/TERM/EXAMPLES/HEIGHT (CM)(IN)/WIG/HEAD/EYES/NECK/SHOULDER WIDTH/ARMS&SLEEVE/CHEST&BUST/WAIST/HIPS/THIGH/KNEE/NECK?WAIST/WAIST?ANKLE/LEGS&INSEAM/ANKLE/FOOT LENGTH&WIDTH

...In my defense, it's something that looks like legit work that I can tinker with in public. >.> So. <.< Yeah. >.> This entire mess started as a brief project to keep track of who could share clothes and spiraled the hell out of control. >_> Excel clearly has addictive qualities.

Kavarr, that is a very kind offer! <333 I will greedily accept Claude/Dia spam any day of the week for uhh...reasons :> but I do have Eric (my poor man's Claude lol) to serve as a naughty example when I'm playing with SG versus SID sizes! I guess I need to just stalk every body comparison post on the forum until I find one with a good picture of an EID next to a SG. Or even an EID head on a SID body next to a SG, haha (nothing too specific there, right?)...I really wish Iplehouse sold heads separately. Wait, do they let you cross-match EID heads with SID bodies in Doll Choice these days? Hmmm... :P I also love the idea of using Nanook as Fenrir! Maybe let him roam out in the yard in the distance and the scale will look perfect! :D It totally isn't cheating if you happen to drop a handful of treats in a specific spot to keep him there long enough to set up the scene, haha.

Stella, you lucky thing! Wow, that is going to be an amazing trip!! :D

    6. Lucky Stella I'd love to go back to Japan.I went Japan earlier this year and picked up my first bjd doll from the Volks store in Akihabara as they carried them in store. They also had a selection of outfits. I think I must have spent 3 hours in there running around trying to figure out what to buy! I checked out three other bid stores. One of them was on the 6th floor completely hidden away and they also had a great selection too.

    7. Yes, I'm really looking forward to Japan! I made an extra nice photo of my 2 Volks dolls so I can show the people at Volks my pretties. I'm not really looking to buy a doll, I already bought way too much this year, but it's a bit of a bjd pilgrimage and if I can get some nice bits and bobs I'm gonna be thrilled. A h.Naoto outfit for the girls would be amazing. When I was there in 2008 there also was an Azone store in the same building as the Volks sumika in Akihabara, hopefully it's still there.

Nauticaa, this site has been invaluable for me on my first trip and it is very up to date. The store you mentioned is probably the Shinjuku sumika?

I also hope to find some frostiron doujin, so it's going to be a total fangirl experience ;p

Kavarr, the eye-candy factor of the Marvel MCU is not to be underestimated ;) I'm still a little surprised by how much I like Tony Stark, because RDJ is just so great in that part. And Tom Hiddleston, well, 'nuff said.

I've been checking out some tutorials on dying fake leather so I have good hopes the Loki outfit will be customisable to my tastes!

    8. Stella- I wish you all the best in Japan, and a lot of awsome findings. Someday I'll go too, someday....

I made a compromise and now I placed a Taobao order for a custom Loki outfit for the Miro Doll body, while I'll be taking it as reference for my own human size Loki outfit in the furure, none the less, thank you very much for your kind offer on measurements, psychobarfly.

Seeing as the first days of October will be hollidays in China, and how long the custom made outfits from e-bay (wich I suspect is the same store as the taobao one) took thus far, I hope to be back home when the parcel arrives. I'll be in Spain for a few weeks visiting family and friends^^
Hopefully it will arrive before Christmas, and my Loki will love me for such regal gifts.

And yes, oh the eyecandy!!!!!! If we didn't like Hiddleston, why would we be here..... but I've been lokied again after the last anime convention. I had my favorite Loki cosplayer with her accompaining Thor as "neighbor day camp" in the adjoining park. Ohhh the EYECANDY and indirect fanservice *sigh*
Perhaps I should really start with the comic versions of the two, I'm not so much a fan of the aesthtics, but the storyline looks very fascinating. (does anyone know where I could read anything of the sort online, or do I need to have them in paper format? I'm a bit relucant to start a new, resurses and space consuming hobby at the moment, if I'm not compleatly hooked on it.)

    9. It is so true that there seems to be heaps more Loki fans (or maybe just more vocal ones) than Thor out there Kim. I'm sure there are heaps who prefer Thor and others like me who love both but have a leaning to Loki. Could have something to do with my Hiddles obsession too:) Oh hell I really shouldn't look at your links as now I want to get those comics!!! I agree about the weight of the IH boys. When I carry both the Feeple65 and a SID to a meet it is damn heavy.
Psychobarfly I didn't realize you had an Eric. Eric is my other SID boy and him and Thor look like long lost brothers.
Funny thing but I never really paid any attention to RDJ until I saw him as Stark Stella. Now I am so tempted to get a figure of him but No! No! No! don't even go there!
Yay Lucius your Loki will be pleased! Those cosplayers do look great, they really put in a lot of work.
My stupid tracking number is not working but I hope my package arrives soon.

    10. Lucius Sikilmituile - I'm at work right now and so I can't get the link up, but I have a detailed guide to how to read Thor comics that I will share when I get home.

Edited to add my fairly in depth and straight forward guide to reading modern Thor comics, which if you want to read Loki comics, Thor comics are what you have to read. I have amazon links to the actual trade paperbacks, but if you take the names and look on torrent sites, you can find pretty much all of them to download and then all you would need is a free comic reader program. I, of course, encourage everyone to buy the books.

and to keep this on topic, here's some of Monsieur Creepy

Kavarr - I hope your tracking starts working. Have you tried track-trace.com? I find sometimes it will work there if not on the USPS site.

    11. Kavarr - haha yes, I do have an Eric! He was my consolation prize, who came home during the time Iplehouse was still swearing up one side and down the other that they would never ever ever release Claude again...and I think we know how that story ended. >:P I think he could pass for a Thorki lovechild with that smirky smug grin of his (or even Loki posing as Thor but unable to control his face lol), so he can wear those hats once there's actually a Thor in the house. Otherwise, we're just getting into all different sorts of incest lol! :D

Also, I'm not sure about AU post, but USPS.com doesn't usually update until int'l stuff hits Customs. Mine did show up on EMS though, you could try stalking it there! It says it was posted 9/6, got into Customs in L.A. on 9/9 and was delivered 9/12 (track-trace Post/EMS tracking for: LK127648026CN Origin: China - EMS). Do your packages usually take this long when shipped from Asia? Maybe all those super specific details loaded on the label are confusing your postal workers after all...

Kim - ...that list! *_* I think all of us will have homework now. Homework...and feels. </3 I seriously don't get all the Thor hate and LR stuff, they're both clearly so much better together! But I won't even start, because that essay would blow past the character limit of this thing pretty quick lol.

Lucius - yay, I hope it gets there by Christmas! Your boy will be rocking one half of the red and green holiday theme, the festive thing. :D

Stella - real Frostiron doujinshi for you, and maybe a mini 1/3 size doujinshi for Lox? ;) Tiny Tony would like to hear those bedtime stories, haha! Be sure to bring ALL your credit cards just in case a new dolly makes you an offer you can't refuse. :D

    12. Kim you may call him creepy but he is still gorgeous:) I really wish I didn't look at your links as now i'm going to have to start reading those comics too!!!

You definitely need a Claude as well psychobarfly! I just love Eric and Claude they have the best smirks.

I took a few pics yesterday (actually for the Aussie bjd forum) for a friend and I though what the heck I will put them on here as well.

Here is the thread fellow fangirls;) http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...I-have-an-army!-quot-(DIM-Tom-Hiddleston-MNM)

    13. Kya!!!!! Thanks so much for the links, Kim, I'll be checking them out soon enough!

*sigh* Loki goodness...Thank you too, Kavarr, for the laught first thing in the morning. Hope your tracking gets to work, or your parcel arrives, whatever happens first^^.

    14. I have been having some problems with the face paint rubbing off my Loki with the lightest touch which leaves me touching up every photo to cover spots. I have talked to the artist who did them (both heads) and we think it's a problem with the sealant as I don't have this problem with any of my other dolls including two others she did for me. I have been getting a bit stressed as I adore Loki the way he is. I fear he is going to need a repaint possibly on both heads! :(

Better news is his outfit arrived today and it's amazing. It took me a while to work out what goes where but finally we got there. Here are some pics (Jotun boy today as it has less spots for me to fix) modeling his new cloths:)

    15. Kavarr, I have exactly the same problem with my DiM Loki. I'm thinking it may be the batch of resin they used for him; it may be half a percent more oily than normal...

    16. Oh no, Kavarr! :( :( Do you think you could possibly preserve either of the heads by attacking them with more sealer yourself? Or has it gone past the point of no return? :///// I was worried more about his Jotun noggin and paint rubs because the color would make any scrapes or dings so much more obvious, but I suppose that head sees less "play time" and has fared better... :< I had no idea about the possibility of oily resin, that sucks!

Just be super super careful with that dratted zipper edging on his new suit...at least he looks terribly handsome in it! <333 Did you ask them to make any changes for you besides the fabric color substitute on his pants? I'm curious to know your thoughts on the purpose of the little baggie of safety pins - armor attachment? Makeshift weapons fit for alien royalty? :D

Also, drive-by PSA for everyone! There is now officially a Chris Hemsworth head sculpt in the works by the same amazing artist who sculpted this handsome fellow as well as this little beauty! Unholy trio ahoy. :D So if you, like me, have been kinda sorta on the fence about who to use as Thor and were dragging your feet hoping this exact miracle would occur (or just want Thor clones because your Loki is a greedy, thirsty princess) consider yourselves advised. :>

    17. I never heard about resin being more oily ikke777. That will be a right pain in the butt if that's true. with the dmage mine have I will have to get mine repainted and and get multiple layers of msc and hope that they are ok. Have you had to redo yours too? It's such a pain as I am so attached to Loki and love taking pics of him. I have been going cross eyed trying to touch photos up and i'm not very good at it.
Psychobarfly I just requested no red satin material so they used the black faux leather there instead. You can't see it in the pics but he does have the silver on his pants at the sides. I used the little safety pins to attach the lapel bitss to the armor and the armor to the side of his coat. I just put them through the zip material and the backing material of the front armor. I think your idea about weapons may be right though as I managed to poke myself with the damn things! It will be interesting to see the WG Hemsworth heads completed. Do you think you may get one? More Thors is good as it will mean more requests for Thor outfits:)

    18. Sorry to hear about the face up problen your Loki has, Kavarr. Hope it solves soon and to your sadisfaction.
I had no major problems with mine, besides my own stupidy and the general problem his not so masterful wig is causing at the ages. But I really hope it is no resin problem, because that would really really suck. Love mine and handle him freaquently too.
But your Loki really looks great in his outfit^^. *sigh* Loooooooove!!!!!!!!! can't wait to have mine at home.

I'm happy for all Thor fans/Thor Doll Lovers. I learnd with Loki, that there is nothing better than a good "Minimee" for a character doll.
This far, the WG head looks very good^^. And yes, more Thors will need more Thor outfits. It's a win win situation^^.

    19. Kavarr, It could be the case of the resin mixture being 0.01% more oily than usual, nothing we mortals would ever notice. Resin is an oil based material, after all.
No, I'm not at the point where I want/need him repainted; so far there are small holes in his eye brows only and everybody here is under instructions on pain of death to not touch him at all, never mind his face. But when it gets worse, I will have my artist use purity seal instead of MSC for the new face (Loki's so going to blame me, big time, for this impertinence, I just know it!). Purity is acrylic based, and so a little flexible. This means that it's less likely to flake, on the whole, theoretically anyway...

Outfit looks great on him! I'm still waiting for my outfit. It's been made and has arrived at my reseller but I'm on a wait for a body there as well and that will be at least a month or more before stuff can be sent. But I did order mine without the red, I was worried it might stain...

    20. Kavarr - that's too bad, your boys are so pretty! :///// Hopefully they'll be just as gorgeous the second time around, and stay that way this time with different products. If resin oiliness is a factor, that might explain why your WS Jotun Loki head is holding up better - different resin colors would have probably come from a different batch of product, right? Just when you think you're prepared for anything...

Okay, trick of the outfit positioning! I missed the silvery side bits. ;) It's funny how different those pants look without the red! I was worried the color would be kind of bright and annoying, but it's just enough for contrast under there to create interest...and draw Thor's attention, haha. I like it! :D And yes, I will absolutely be ordering that Chris/Thor head once it's finished! I offered to buy it outright well in advance to make sure I don't somehow miss the window of opportunity once the preorder goes live, but unfortunately that isn't an option at the moment lol. ;) But if that changes, I will be there!

ikke777 - thank you for all the insight about the resin oiliness and the tips about Purity Seal! I'm sort of glad my Tom head is still blank in case he was also from that particular NS batch, but I will keep all of this info in mind once the time comes for him to get dolled up. As for your Loki outfit, it will be worth the wait! :D I'm no fabric expert, but seeing the red section of the pants in person, I think you probably would have been all right with the red. I'm not concerned about the staining from mine - it doesn't seem to be that sort of fabric. The tight "leather," on the other hand...I'm thinking about getting him one of these body protection suits just to be safe, haha. ;) (If anyone else is a chicken like I am, BBD sells these in multiple sizes!)

Lucius - your head's faceup is deteriorating, too? :( Can I ask how long has he had his faceup, and when it first started showing signs of trouble?

I don't understand how this is just becoming a known issue now, when all these heads are already a few years old? All things considered, Kavarr's Loki faceups are still pretty new, and yet they're already damaged. Who else has had faceup issues that might be related to this? I think there were several different order periods for this head (?) and if we can pin down heads from certain timeframes, maybe we'll know for sure. :/ If anyone is an original head owner from any order period (or know which order your head was part of), please speak up!
