Loki's blue body for his Jotun head arrives today! It is really much nicer than I thought it would be and a pretty good match. The Resinsoul body is long and thin but I think it suits his frost giant form. The box opening thread is here if anyone would like to check it out. The light in my room washed him out a bit and made him look more grey but he really is a pale blue. I have some faux leather and faux fur and I fear I am going to have to attempt some sewing! For now he is borrowing a t'shirt and has a pair of undies which I hope he likes as god only knows how long it will be before he has his frost giant cloths.

 

YAY! Congrats Kavarr!! He looks perfect, that is such a good resin match! Has his faceup already been redone?? Or is this more of your editing wizardry? I am so glad you got that shade of blue, the sky blue would have been crazy dark for your boy (and yes, that shade also photographs irritatingly grey without a lot of post-editing color correction, despite looking ace in person). I'm sure your blue darling is very pleased to have a body of his very own at long last! 33

Very curious to see what furry, leathery outfits you come up with for him, too! I find these tall skinny RS bodies are sort of a challenge to dress, it's a good thing frost giants typically sashay around in very little clothing lol. We will find someone to make Thor's outfit someday! Betrust2008 must be taking a break, their shop is empty. One of us needs to get savvy with Taobao and stalk any promising shops, I suspect...with the new Avengers film approaching, there is every possibility that someone could come out with a dolly-sized Thor cosplay outfit (and if we're lucky, they won't stop at just Thor)!

Thanks psychobarfly! The resin match is much better than I hoped for. The sky blue is quite vivid so I knew that wouldn't work but from the pics on their site the plain blue was really pale so I thought for that price it was worth trying. I was surprised at the quality of the RS body it is much nicer than I thought it would be and it came with a carry bag too
I haven't got my frost giants face fixed yet and it is doing my head in. Being on his lips it is a really difficult spot to cover up so don't look to closely at the pics. I know it will have to be done sometime but for now it will go on my rather long to do list. Just paid off the RDJ head and body so hopefully Tony Stark won't be to far off. Once he arrives I will be sending his head for face up and i'm waiting on a blank DC guy too. I really really need to win the lotto!!!
Thors hammer is great and I think with two Loki's he might need it. He is going with me to a Meet this weekend so I should take it along. Yay one more thing squish into my bag. I will be carrying two IH SID boys (they are damn heavy!) and leaving a certain green eyed boy at home. Not to sure that I will have a house to come home to though as taking Thor out without him could lead to a grand scale tantrum!

He did it! That sneak ended up going with me to the meetup. Morning of the meet I went to put Thor and Eric in my doll bag only to find out that two IH SIDs will not fit in there for anything. So I cursed the green eyed one and said you planned this didn't you? He just sat there smirking while I got out my other bag. Of course with the two bags Loki is able to fit in with Thor. So I lug three damn heavy dolls to the city. It was good fun but just as we were packing up I put Eric away and was just putting Thor in the bag when one of the girls decided to pose Loki with her brand new DD girl. She put his arm around her but as she went to pick up her doll Loki's arm moved and there was one bald dollfie and her wig was swinging from Loki's hand. We all just laughed when she said "Did you see that, he's evil!" Really can't trust him anywhere!
How is everyone else's mischief's behaving?

 

Ah yes, Loki is allways up to mischief, and he has a predilection for hair, has he not?
Mine is rather happy at the moment, he got a pair of new custom eyes. I still have to take a pic or two for the world to see. I think I have found the eyes that look best on him^^.

I love your pictures Kacarr, the ones outdoors really make my day every time I see them, they are so warm and happy, we still have cold weather here.

 

It is starting to get colder here now. We had an unusually cool summer. I don't mind as I like the cold and we also had less bushfires because of it. It is great when you find that perfect pair of eyes Lucius. Now you must show us all how he looks!
My Loki is not having as much fun as usual due to Thor's new hammer. He was caught getting up to mischief and this was the result

 

Lol, those handcuffs are made to be broken^^, and when Loki does, Thor should be far away.
But perhaps he wanted to be caught... if he didn't, the Thor, or anyone else for that matter, would not have known^^

Ah yes, spring is still not here. Sometimes I think it is just around the corner, and the it starts raining again and it's unbelivable cold...
I wish you a beautyfull autum, with lots of warm days, and colourful backgrounds for lovely dolly pics. (Of course time to take them too, and enjoy yourself at it)

Ah, I wish I was able to get of my lazy but and do something nice with my dolls. I just started a new job this week, and I'm still very excited and scared of the whole new world opening up in front of me.

 

I don't think Loki will have any trouble getting out of them if he really wants too either. I want to get/make some cog thingys to add to them to make them look more like the ones from the movie. Sometimes I really think Loki just likes the attention he gets (particularly from Thor) for playing up. Great to hear about your new job Lucius. I can understand that it would take up a lot of your time. Hey i'm sure your Loki doesn't mind so long as you spend your hard earned dollars on him.
There is a bjd photography contest on here atm and the theme is winter. I bought some artificial snow and with the Jotun boy am going to give it a go. I just love bjd shots in the snow but I will only be able to make a small patch. Once the comp is over I can post pics but not before so then you can see how it goes.

Yes, I really like how the colour looks so green on the pics, his last ones were much more "human" but they allways looked black on camara.

Well artificial snow is really weird. You mix the tiniest bit 3 teaspoons in 1 litre of water and mix and in a minute or so you have snow! I took Lokes out in the garden and had a bit of a one sided snow fight. Somehow still mysteriously ended up with it in my shoes & hair. I put some in the tree behind him and took a few pics. Don't know if it will be good enough for the comp as I had to edit his scratch and it's far from perfect. I think I really need to invest in a frosty backdrop.

 

Well, I'm not at all sold on the backdrop things. I have my share at home, and thou they have their flair at times, they get old very quickly. And I chose mine as versatile and changable as possible. (at least they get old for me....)

There is nothing like the reall thing, even if it is artificial. Don't know if I'm saying it the right way. The backdrop, even if they are good, will most likely look 2d while i.e. some plastic flowers, even if they look somewhat fake, they still have the same depth like the doll, and make the picture more compleat.

I'm not saying backdrops are a bad thing, I still like mine. But, if you can, use the real deal, it's a lot more of fun^^ (at least IMHO)

On the matter on snow in hair and shoes... Ah never get into a snow fight with a frot giant! Even if they look pasive, you'll never see it comming. Kavarr, you are lucky your Loki likes you^^. I bet he would have created an avalanche if he had been holding a grudge.
Even if they akt like spoiled divas, our Lokis know who pays for their things, they can't hate the hand who feeds their whims. (but they sure can akt like they do...*I'm not mentioning the last photoshoot*)

 

What? Fake snow?! Oh man, I didn't even realize there was such a thing. Is it some kind of commercial mix, or random chemicals you put in water? I can't wait to see that one-sided snowball fight footage, Kavarr! I keep thinking I will be reduced to creative use of backgrounds and some of that cheesy white fluff they sell for decorating miniature Christmas villages and stuff to set the scene, but maybe that won't be the case after all. Just imagine leaving enough faux snow solution around your boys without supervision, they would make ALL the snow and promptly trash the place. (Note to self: purchase flood insurance.)

Lucius, your boy's new eyes are striking! Lighter colors really do show up nicely on film. I agree that backgrounds are tricky to make multipurpose unless they are like, super neutral and generic or are a specific place that dollies will visit often. Even the huge ones are only so wide, which is really limiting when it comes to camera angles. It would be amazing to get, like...one of those big curved shower curtain rods, and a huge landscape-oriented background to make sort of a panoramic setting, almost like a movie theater screen for the resins to hang out in front of. All of the backgrounds I've seen for sale are portrait-orientation, but I'm not sure if a floor is quite as important as making a broader, wider area look like a part of Asgard, the wilds of Jotunheim, etc. Even Avengers Tower, if there are any decent HQ screenshots out there without random characters lurking in them!

So I attempted to take some quick pictures of the crabby princess on his little throne, but I realized once I was finished and everything had been put away that his damn outfit almost completely covered the thing in every shot - even in multiple poses! Typical. >_> Diva!Loki knows he will wrangle more attention and time in front of the camera if retakes are needed, so I can only assume this was his master plan from the beginning. Well, guess what, you needy brat? The joke's on you, because next time I haul out all the dolly stuff you won't be showing off in your fancy kingly armor, you will be half-nekkid so your throne can be seen! >:P A necessary return of the Loki in Lingerie series forthcoming eventually...but for now, the old stuff. I swear there is a throne hiding under there!

I am also quietly dying in anticipation of Thor! asdlfjdslkgh he is freaking epic, I can only imagine how impatient Loki is, poor baby...if I let him near my credit cards he will probably fill every preorder slot himself. ) A harem of Thors to serve him in every way, as it should be.

 

I get the backdrop thing Lucius as I have a couple and you can only use them so much. I would like a snowy scene though as maybe combining it with my fake snow it could work. It's hard to make it look freezing cold (i wish I had photoshop and could use it!) when you only have patches of snow. It would be fun to take him somewhere with lots of trees and forest looking although I would probably get locked in the loony bin if someone saw me throwing fake snow around then tried to explain that it was for Loki!
The fake snow is really weird psychobarfly. It's like made up of tiny tiny beads than swell up heaps when mixed with water. It says it's safe and non toxic so I hope there is nothing dangerous to frost giants or humans in there! I better put that bottle somewhere where Loki can't find it or I may come home to a white frosty house. I love the way he has hidden the throne. Maybe he wants something more grand and made from pure gold or something. After all Loki won't settle for anything but the best. I see you have done his chest plate piece. It looks so much better than just the plain black bit of the tunic. There's something else I need to do! I can't wait till you get your Thor. Do you know what body you are going to use?

 

I've been reading along and love seeing how wonderful the Lokis are coming along.

I'm slowly emerging from the winter slump (SAD) but I really wanted to post something in this thread, it's the best!

Kavarr - haha, okay...little expanding granules of stuff that just look like snow, then? Does it stay that way permanently, or will it dehydrate again for storage/future use if you let it dry? If not, how long will it stay usable for? Will it spoil? Does it stay kind of wet like snow since it's made with water? I am picturing that tiny ball-shaped pasta right now, like acini de pepe or something and I know that has to be wrong, lol.

Long has the brat been not so secretly pining for a little golden Hlidskjalf of his very own, but he will just have to make do with what random seating his human slave can acquire on eBay! :P An engineer I am not, so he and I are at the mercy of others on this one. ) More peekaboo throne action:



Ahh I am so excited about having a Thor to keep the clones in line! The wait will be torture! Not completely sure what kind of body Thor will be getting - I don't want to buy anything until I test him on my SID body (or see pics of someone else doing it) since I have no larger muscular bodies to really visualize him on, if that makes sense. I relate better to bodies I have here in person - sometimes, you just have to witness a total size fail right there in front of you to truly know, haha. ) The SID neck size should be compatible, but I don't want him looking like a weird alien bobblehead! Of course he already looks too damn good on the bigger, beefy Idealian/Mega Gem/EID sized bodies which will very likely make my 65cm Loki clones look absurdly petite! Just can't win sometimes, haha. More RS70 bodies for the Lokis could be a cost-efficient compromise, maybe...

Stella, poor Lox looks like he needs some spring fever in his life! Perhaps the improved weather on the horizon will make you both more cheery (well, cheerful within reason for His Majesty...). So is Tiny Tony (wisely) hiding while Lox sulks with Fenrir? That outfit does scream "girls night in," and are those a pair of pretty rainbow Bifrost socks I spy? I love his tiny Nutella! You always have such cute food props! 3

 

Glad you are feeling better Stella. I missed seeing Lox around too. I love the pink pjs and bambi shirt! I think I get the opposite to you as I wilt in summer and love winter. As a kid I spent all my time in an ice rink and then as I got older took up snow skiing. I even hiked on glaciers os so I think I should have been born in Scandinavia and not Australia!
The snow is this stuff psychobarfly. It is really weird as it feels like snow too. The less water gives you fluffier snow. You can dry it out an reuse but I just hosed away the stuff I put on the ground as it was to dirty to keep. There is still plenty in the bottle for more snow fun.
The RS70 bodies are great and the price for that size is really good too. SID is what my Thor is though and my Jotun boy on the RS body towers over him. You may have to go for the big body like Idealian for him.

 

Holy mother of...snow. ) Seeing that dude up to his armpit stirring faux snow is making my OCD tingle, haha! Thinking about the texture as it solidifies is creeping me out, but these are the things we must endure for our little Jotun loves. :P That's awesome if you can dry it out and just keep using it over and over, although I suspect finding a big enough area to spread it out and speed up that process must be a pain in the butt...and possibly not worth it if it's been used outside. Who knows what kind of random messy things would be found mixed up in there?

Yes, I know the pesky RS70 bodies make the 65cm crowd look like midgets! It's just nice to know I have the option either way if I need to do some grand scale body swapping, though. I have an RS70 and SID in the resin family as well, and I am nothing if not a creature of habit. It will take a pretty severe head/body fail to force me to acquire something new and untested, lol! My brain likes to convince itself these various hybrids will work out until I actually see it in person or in a picture and am forced to backpedal rapidly with my plotting... :P

I think the RS70 body is beautiful to look at. So tall and skinny but very pretty. If you want to go with the SID you can always do my trick if I want Thor taller I put him on a platform (Shh don't tell anyone!).
I love your Loki's throne it looks pretty fancy. He is looking great and that wig is so perfect

I took some pics of the Jotun boy today just using some white faux fur as a background hoping it looked a bit like ice.

 

Since we got our shipping notice that a certain other boy is coming home Loki just had to try his T shirt on for size. Thor is not at all amused that he caught his brother wearing something belonging to that particular Midgardian!
