1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Discovering the Price...

May 16, 2006

    1. I buy my own dolls, I'm not begging for cash, so it's no one's business what I spend. If someone brings it up, I just compare it to any other expensive hobby. My husband is the only one whose opinion matters and he just dropped $200 on an old game (not system--GAME), so he can't really say much. :P

    2. well i guess its bad but I lie to my family about the prices...not that much but like maybe shave off 50-150 dollars. its enough to make them raise they eyebrows/roll their eyes and whatnot but ive been known in this household to do unconventional (and usually expensive) hobbies anyway.

    3. I'm not really shy about the expense of my dolls, mostly because I don't feel the need to avoid it. Everyone who knows me knows I collect dolls as a hobby and when I explain the work and artistry that goes into these dolls, they generally understand. I've had one guy call Philippe a faggot, but this is coming from a guy who spends hundreds of dollars on jewelry...for himself and still thinks he's straight. He's in massive denial and his bashing on homosexuals just solidifies it, though Philippe isn't gay- just effeminate in appearance. I've never really gotten flack for my two boys, not even from my husband. He understands that they mean a lot to me, just as his guns and video games mean a lot to him.

    4. I'm pretty lucky to have family and friends that accept my hobbies and stuff. My mom said as long as I'm not buying drugs or hookers with my money, she's cool with it.

    5. I simply don't tell until directly asked about it, then I tell the true cost (of the doll only because they're not asking about her + clothes/shoes/wig)
after the person has had their minor heart attack and is done freaking out at me I try to explain why they cost that much and why I personally spent that much on a doll, this usually either ends with the person understanding or freaking out more

    6. hey at least its not drugs or booze or being gambled away. A doll hobby is pretty constructive if you ask me. Depending on how much you craft for and photograph your dolls you can learn quite a lot of skills useful in other areas of life too

    7. In all honestly I would have told my friends to mind their own business. It's not their money they're spending, it's my own hard earned money that I'm spending. That whole situation would have upset me. What's so hard about being supportive friends?

    8. When I first told my friends that I was gonna buy a $900+ doll, they didnt have much of a reply. But after a while they were actually quite interested in a good way~ Which actually made me relieved cause I thought they thought of me as wierd when they didnt have much to say at first.

I guess im pretty good/supportive friends huh? And one of them also is interested in them too but just doesnt have one :>

    9. Well usuay everybody who hears the price is shoked :D But later when they see the dolls the shock is gone
