1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Discussion of 2007 Unoa Pre-order (Shipped Dec. 2007)

Dec 21, 2006

    1. I got much the same just now:

Thank you for your payment. Your order is now effective.

It is going to be long wait.
We will let you know when your package is ready to be shipped.
You will need to send the actual shipping charge at the time.

Thank you very much for your order !

      Masamichi Kuge,

    2. It's pretty ridiculous that such a popular doll company makes people wait so long to get their dollies (both in waiting for preorders and waiting for shipping)

You'd think with their popularity they'd open up shop all round, they'd make a heckuva alot of money...

then again, thank goodness they're making them at all, eh? XD

    3. I don't think Araki's goal is to make money with this little business. Ultimately, yes, but I know that what he loves most about these dolls is that people fall so incredibly in love with them. He wants to see his creations go to good homes! Perhaps the pre-order period is a test! I know that he creates the dolls personally, they may only be kits but setting this resin is a lot of tough work!

    4. Actually Alchemic Labo has taken over production of the dolls. I'm sure they are just as exacting as Araki, but hopefully with more hands at work, the waiting period won't be as long. :)

    5. I think I've read somewhere in the site that the people in the alchemic laboratory are 3. or maybe 4, I can't remember.

So maybe if before he was alone, now all together they will make dolls 3 times faster? :D

    6. I know the wait can be difficult, but I love the fact that Araki is an artist, and he wants to keep the business small, at least that is my understanding of his intention. I don't know if I would feel the same way about them, if they were cranked out in a factory, and seeing them all over the internet. I think the charm of them would be lost somehow.

Hopefully, as both Brennil, and annetta mentioned with alchemic laboratory at Araki's side, the dolls can be made a little faster if just to alleviate the wait time.

    7. The other thing with Araki, is that this is more of a side line for him. He makes a lot of garage kits, I think he likes to sculpt a lot of new designs, so he wants to spend his time on that. So thats why he has unoa orders so infrequently. He is doing other projects.

    8. Hi Fitz!

I actually love this. He is an artist 1st, and the dolls although very popular, are a sideline project. It makes them more special, because of the infrequency of them. I must sound a bit off, to want Unoas, but I do love the fact that they are made in small amounts and come out at infrequent times. My dad is an artist so I actually understand this mind set. LOL!

    9. I read something like this somewhere too, maybe a translation of the diary page? That they were going to change the production so that more people could get a doll. That might speed up the process. I think Araki was unhappy with the second hand market.

    10. Hey, is there a place that I could read more about this doll artist in er, English? That and some of you seem to know when a preorder is coming out- where can I read this info? Will Crescent still offer a preorder, or will I have to check a different buying/selling site?
Thanks! Guess I am getting slightly obsessive...:D

Also, the faces in this preorder (um, ordered 3!) I have a pinky white narae- will they match her skintone? If not, which narae tone is the best match? :aheartbea

    11. I don't think the U-noa faceplates will work on the Narae head. Narae's skintone is very translucent because of the different in resin type. Maybe you'd be okay with it, but I know I wouldn't be satisfied. :(

    12. i think they will fit ok, there's a thread on here somewhere, but just like Damhnait said, the resin wont match i think.

    13. I did a search on Google for Gentaro Araki ages ago and found this page.

But now when I do this search I find, amongst other things, this.

Hope this is of some interest. :)

    14. I have Montparnasse :blush it's an extremely adult book! You really wouldn't want young kids seeing it.
Having said that, it's pretty amazing to see the variety of works that Araki creates.

    15. ah ok, i forgot about that thread! :)

    16. Hihihi, when I think about Araki and "adult" I'm reminded of that time I found some of his "manga".

GURO! He's such a prevert. XD

    17. I have a question pertaining to the pre-order of the Unoa 2nd Dollybird kits. How much were they when there was the pre-order?? Thanks!
