1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Discussion of 2007 Unoa Pre-order (Shipped Dec. 2007)

Dec 21, 2006

    1. Are the boy and girl faceplates interchangeable or do you have to mod them to fit the other body?

Could you put a boy face plate on a girl body without modding it?

I know I have seen both boy & girls as the other sex. Just not sure how much work it is for one.

I would love to have a l-bi girl!

    2. yes they are completly interchangeable :)

    3. Cassiel's post on page 64 said:

"A normal Lusis or Sist kit is 39,900yen, a Lusis or Sist kit with large bust part extra is 43,575yen. Irrespective of whether you get the large bust part or not, you can get one of each kit. (So you could get a Lusis with or without bust, and a Sist with or without bust. But not two Sists or two Lusises.)"

    4. Yeah, it's really the preferred form of payment in Japan. :sweat When I lived over there and spent half my time buying bargains off Y!JA, I did 95% of my transactions through bank transfer. (And the other 5% were 'paruru' - post office money transfer - something I've never seen outside of Japan anyway.)

In regards to your earlier question about how long it'll take, btw -- yeah, the last pre-order took like 6+ months. But this time Alchemic Labo has been, well, kinda outsourced so it's not just Araki, and also they are making as many kits as they can in advance, so that as many people as possible will basically get their orders as soon as they pay. (Like, they pay on July 9th, then it gets sent out that same week.) However they say if they get more orders than they have kits prepared (which I think is a sure thing) then they will go ahead and start making kits to fill those remaining orders, and of course nobody knows how long this is going to take. But because a certain bulk of the orders will have been filled straight away, in theory it should be quicker than the 6+ months that previous pre-orders were taking.

However this is of course all theoretical since this is the first time they've done it this way, so who knows. :)

Also, I reckon that probably Japanese orders will get priority over International ones in regards to the orders that will be shipping immediately. They say it'll be done by lottery, but... :sweat

    5. He's lucky in more ways than one, since he's at last getting some company in the form of my future Lusis.

Here he is stealing her glasses (sorry for the bad pic *_*):

I'm so excited about the preorder now, even though the sensible person in me wishes it was a few months later. I'm going to do the faceup on her bully face when I've not got so many exams on. I'm thinking of making her a redhead...

Edit: Enmi, I got my parts this early because I had someone in Japan order them, as Amanohara mentions in her post. I suspect most people who've got them are the same.

    6. I'd rather they had actual lenses in them, but other than that they're great, and fit his head really well. The shape suits him, too. I just tried them on him for a laugh since I thought they were kinda girly glasses, but I like them on him :3.

Unoa's have *slightly* smaller heads, I believe, since I think they wear 6'' wigs (someone correct me if I'm wrong)? My MNF Shiwoo wears a 7'', and his face is slightly longer and larger than that of my bully faceplate. Her's seems more broad though. He's also got bigger eyes, his 14mms look a little too big in her.

    7. I have a question. If you order a kit with the large bust plate do you also get the small bust plate with it or only the one plate? Thanks.

    8. The kit only contains the small bust.
The large bust is an option you can choose which has an additional cost.
It is usually the only option you purchase along with the kit.

All other options are offered during another time.
The parts option has just passed.

    9. Okay. Thanks. That's great that you can order the large bust option so you have both. Is it easy to change the bust plate or do you have to restring the whole doll?

    10. ^ You will have to restring the whole doll. <__<;;

      I hope I could get a sist when pre-roder rolls around... ;___;

    11. Keep in mind the unoa dolls do NOT come strung they come in parts you have to string them together with the elastic included, So you can put on the default or the large bust if you order it. I found the stringing was not that hard. The back the feet where the back heel is and the top of the head at the front (back head not faceplate) come with mold TABS on. On my boy I ordered they were pretty large and required cutting off with a metal jewerly cutter and then sanding smooth. OR you can just sand with a really grainy sand paper to get the tab off and then switch to a fine grain to finish.

All this helps you bond to the doll as if feels like you had a hand in creating her :)

The face plate will have a very fine film of resin over the openings where the eye sockets are, this is easily removed by just poking them out with a dull thin object.

    12. There is a little glue required - I used a two part epoxy as its nice and strong when set. It comes in a syring like holder when you push down there is two openings at the end that evenly distributes the two parts of the glue (which is transparent in color) so its like a perfect way to measure effortlessly. then you just mix it around with a stick of some kind such as a cue tip with the cotton removed. Not much is needed you apply only a thin layer where the two parts will join. On my boys I think there was only the upper balls to glue to the top of the legs. The way its designed the balls actually snap onto the top legs and so you could almost not use glue but they might get annoying and come apart, its the stringing tension that would hold them in place. So its best to glue them most people do I think. I found the best way to string is to take you time! lay out all the part in front of you forming a doll, to be sure you have the parts on the right sides and don't put anything on the wrong side of the doll. Each part is labeled with a L and R which is actually raised up in the resin as part of the mold. These are hidden on where you don't see them when strung.

The kit includes a long wire this you bend in half and use to put through the loops you form with the elastic. It is easier if you have another person with you as you string to hold the doll while you string the parts on there is some pulling involved and its easier if you have a person there holding firmly, but you can also just put the doll grasped between you legs :) I found resin to be very strong so no worries just be careful with the wire that you don't scratch the doll.

Instructions: the doll does come with instructions but they are written in japanese however the pictures tell you everything you need to know. Don't shorten the elastic by cutting it, best to do triming at the end when the doll is all strung if needed. As if you cut it too short you just messed up your stringing elastic.

    13. :) its not really scary but I know how you feel ! I used to feel like that, my first unoa I sent to a friend to do. But when I got my boy kits I just decided after so many years of hearing people say how easy it was, it was time to just do it! The only hard part is getting the tension perfect. Just don't tie the knots too tight on the elastic then you can always go back and try again. The rest is really just going really slow and double checking as you go. For instance your ready to string the arm together its just like beads on a string no biggie. But you do want to think ok double check all part of the arm for L symbol.

You can do it! when you sand off the tabs on the back of the heels of course do that before you string the doll together, its easier to keep the sandpaper a little wet and the foot, I sat with a cup of water and just dipped it in quickly to soak the sanded part of the paper and I kept my foot wet too it just seems to move the sanding along and gives you a smoother finish as well it stops the dust you are removing the resin chunk from being inhaled. Also do the sanding outside !! resin is not good for you to inhale.

    14. oh and its also best to use wet sandpaper and keep the doll paerts wet

    15. I have two questions:
      1) I have signed up with crescent shop. In the section of the profile page that says something like "special orders" I simply wrote "Unoa pre-order". Does this mean they will contact me when there is a pre order or do I still need to do something different?

      2) I was wondering what is Quluts? I see that after the word Unoa at times. Is it a type of Unoa?

      Thanks for any help.

    16. Unfortunately I can't help you with #1, but for #2: Unoa Quluts is the full name of the Unoa dolls. :) It's written on Gentarou Araki's site. Same way that the Unoa's predescessor, the Unoss, was actually called the Andolrea Unoss. It's just that "Unoss" and "Unoa" are a lot quicker to say. ;)

(For the record, I dunno exactly where "Quluts" comes from so I dunno what the exact pronunciation is meant to be, but the way it's written in Japanese it's "kurusu". I'd pronounce it just 'kurus' without the 'u' on the end.. that's usually left out in such pronunciations. And the 'r' in the middle is really a cross between an 'l' and an 'r' as in all Japanese.. so 'kulus' is just as correct, really.)

    17. I read in an interview with Araki about what the Quluts means: It's derived from Homonculus which is a created human. I think the translation of that interview is still on DOA somewhere. It was a fascinating read for anyone who's a fan of the old pervert's work. XD

    18. i want a sist so bad, but boy does all this confuse me. i'll figure it out though.

one question for clarification - can you order the large breast part at the same time as the doll, or do you have to wait for the next opt. parts sale?

    19. i believe the large boobies are the only option part available during this preorder. so you can get your sist wth the LMP, no problem. ;-)

    20. Are the white unoas available during this preorder? Are they ever available during a preorder? If not how do they normally sell them?
