1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Disney Japan creates one off Super Dollfie models

Oct 22, 2013

    1. 21K??? That's insane...

    2. Wow usually I equate dolls to expensive purse, watch, or shoes. But you can buy a car with that price!

    3. Wow!! These are such works of art. I love them both, but eeegads, with what they went for i could buy a new car or two... whoa

    4. Both of them are really gorgeous dolls! :fangirl:
...But I would never buy ANY doll for those prices (unless I was a millionaire) XD

    5. The Jack doll is wonderfully designed; however, I could never see paying that much for him. I would much rather make my own at that rate.

    6. I love them so much! The Volks x Disney collaborations are awesome! Plus, I love Rapunzel and Liselotte. Together, they make an expensive doll, though!

    7. Oh, this is depressing! No money, but so much love to give! Ugh! lol They are pretty amazing, it`s a shame that awesome dolls pop up like this!

    8. When I first saw the first post I thought, "Jack Skellington? Cool character, but as a Volks?" But I LOVED how they styled him! He's a very handsome, sweet, sexy guy that looks great in that outfit... and the mask really looks great--very much like the character!

I'm not surprised he sold so high. He really was the more creative, distinctive, impressive doll of the two. And one of the most distinctive BJD stylings/one-offs ever, really. Everything was just perfect. Plus, there's the whole Disney aspect. People go crazy over Disney collectibles--they are just instant classics. And the Nightmare fans, the Jack fans, the Tim Burton fans, the goth/egl fans... etc., etc.

This kind of dolls isn't for the casual bjd owner, so the price should not be a surprise, either. This doll can be used to display and be a business expense. Or put in an exhibit/museum for such things. Or for the really serious collector, it can be totally worth that price. There are plenty of other dolls that regular buyers can get instead--or they can mod and make their own! (which is much more in the spirit of bjds, anyway)

The Rapunzel was lovely, but out of context, it could be just any pretty doll. The Jack was definitely Jack--and it was cleverly done to be a great human bjd and do justice to the character. It's not easy to re-create such an odd character in a more human form and pull it off. I was very surprised at how well they did it. He's definitely an amazing doll. It impressed me, anyway! :)

      ...
I'd love to see more such collaborations. Especially if they are done so creatively, like the Jack.

I do not want to own one. I think these dolls are not meant to be changed around and played with, and I like to do that with my dolls. But I definitely love seeing them. I hope the dolls go to owners that really treasure them--and can maybe care for them in the best way possible, and also who might display them so others can appreciate them from time to time.

    9. I am impressed to say the least!
The Tangled one didn't impress me, it was too "cutesie"; but Jack... that's craftsmanship!
The photos make me wish I was skilled enough to create costumes like that for my own BJD's!

Amazing... thank you for sharing those gems with us!

    10. So I know this thread is really old and hasn't been touched in three years, but I thought maybe I could help clear up a few things, as well as explain a little bit more for future reference (I know a bit about the merchandising Tokyo Disney Resort (referred to as TDR) does compared to regular Disney Resort products). First off, Disney Parks in any country, besides Tokyo, will have the same merchandise.
Currently at this point, there have only been a total of three Disney x Volks dolls (those being Jack and Rapunzel in 2013 and Cinderella in 2015) and these dolls have been exclusives to Tokyo's D23 (an event that's basically a Disney Comic-Con, however, the event is hosted by Disney). However, the dolls were technically created thanks to the help of Oriental Land Company (The owners of TDR, and will be referred to as OLC).

Unfortunately, this may not happen (Volks making Disney dolls that would be available to everyone). From what I gathered, these dolls are D23 exclusives because they are considered collectibles (kinda-of like Disney Store Limited Edition dolls) and also Volks has to be licensed by OLC in order to make any more. But going back on the facts that they are collectibles explains why they went for that much. (A Bit Off-Topic) Heck, certain Disney Store Exclusive or D23 plastic dolls sell in the thousands (a quick eBay search shows you the dolls and their "lovely" prices). Personally as someone who has collected Disney merchandise, I'm not surprised that those are the prices they went for, since a) It's Disney, and b) they are Japan Exclusives so basically anyone who wants them is bidding.

(Off-Topic) Duffy and Shellie May are crazy popular because, from what I've read and research, they're cute and people preferred them over Minnie and Mickey, at the time of their releases. I don't think they'll do a doll couple because currently OLC is working with Stieff on special Shellie May and Duffy bears that have been released every year (I know more on this because I have collected Duffy, Shellie May, and Gelatoni [a new character since the release of the dolls] for a while and understand the process due to them. Though personally, I would love to get my hands on a couple dressed as them).

Again sorry for resurrecting a dead thread, but just thought I add some information.
