It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 2. They're displayed in my room which is always cold and dark but when I let the natural light in it doesn't hit them directly. They all have face protectors to keep dust out of the way and just by watching them all there where I can clearly see them makes me happy and relaxed^^boxes are usually thrown out a month later in case I don't bond and need to sell.

    3. Oh man, I'm such a weirdo... I actually find the whole process of resin yellowing to be a little bit endearing. I mean, as people age they get more and more imperfections and their skin isn't as perfect as it once was, so I like that dolls change similarly over time. Yellowing just doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I mean, the form and sculpt of the doll remains the same right? Anyways, yeah my doll is always out. I don't even know where her box is stored. I feel like a terrible doll owner  Oh well at least I don't display her on my windowsill!

    4. I keep my dolls in their boxes because I currently live in a south-facing top floor apartment that gets lots of sunlight. There is literally no where to keep them where they would be out of the sunlight, so I just take one or two out at a time and have them sit out while I'm able to enjoy them. I don't see the point in having them excessively yellow when I'm at work all day and don't even see them :sweat I can't wait until I get a house where I have a room where I can keep them out on display :)

    5. I really like this idea! I agree that the aging can be endearing especially if you were able to "experience" that aging with them

    6. I don't keep them in boxes but in a dark cupboard away from light. I can take them out whenever I like and don't have to worry about them being in the light otherwise. ^^

    7. I wish I could materialize a display case with glass front and a curtain right now, my dolls are in a dark cupboard when I don't have time for them, too but it kind of makes me sad and I want to do something about it till the end of this year.

    8. All of mine sit out. It's easier since I have over 90 and I don't have to hunt for the doll I want if they're in their boxes.

    9. I keep my doll in her box. It's not because I'm overly careful with direct sunlight but just because it more tidy for me. Plus my room collects dust at an alarming rate.

    10. I have mine out, but covered with blackout material. No dust, no light, but easy to just remove the drape and enjoy them. :)

    11. I love having them out in my room so I can see them as I walk by!~ I currently have my Unoa sitting next to me on my computer desk. She's really good company when I'm sitting around on DoA, or playing a RPG. I only put them in boxes when I get tired of them, or they don't inspire me anymore. I keep them out of the sun, and my home is climate controlled, so I'm pretty sure they're alright! ^-^ Why have them if you don't see them right?

    12. There are few months that I keep my doll in his bag and put him in my closet where its cold and dark. But now I want him where I can see him, on the table in my office. The room doesn't get any sunlight in, and its cold so I guess he'll be fine in there. I think we'll be happier that way :)

    13. Such a great question!!!
I would love to see photos of your collection! Do you have them posted anywhere?

I'm new to the hobby but the 3 I have are in a dust free glass case. I also keep my blinds closed most of the time but not always. The good thing is they're not in direct sunlight even when I do open the blinds. I love this post because I've been wondering the same thing. I'm not loving the idea of my girls turning yellow as of now but may lighten up over time. ;)

    14. I would love to display them but my country is extremely humid. We have winter, the rainy season, and the interim between that (spring & autumn? Yeah right) One of the leather belts I got for my dolls is already growing mold and I only got it last year. I've had to go buy a whole wad of sealable plastic bags to keep each leather accessory individually packed so they don't infect each other.
My dolls also have some fake leather pants and jackets, as well as a whole lot of shoes so in order to prevent them from molding, I have to keep them in plastic boxes. I also put desiccants in these boxes just to be safe. I go home every week to turn on the de-humidifier in the room.
Also, it's a habit in our country is to fit every room with harsh fluorescent light. My bedroom has 8 light tubes. Even the storeroom where I keep them has 8 as well, and the place where I'm staying has 3. Fluorescent light is almost as bad as UV so when I'm in my room and not playing with them, I always make sure to dress them up completely and cover them with a cloth. I've sometimes come back from work to realize someone (or me) had accidentally left the light on, so keeping them covered at all times is important. Luckily, my doll carrier finally arrived so I've been able to keep the doll that travels with me in that.

It's strange how different places demand different care. If I was back in Australia, the great arid land, I'll never have problems like this. Also, I've never once see desiccants in any of the food I bought there.

    15. Dressed in white clothing is a good idea!

I keep my dolls in their boxes most of the time even if I'm working on an outfit for them. Not because of exposure to sun or dust but because I'm paranoid that my dogs will get them!!!!!!! They're way to interested in the smell of mohair and one once chewed up a Helen Kish Avery way before I got into bjds.

    16. I used to keep my dolls in their boxes all the time, sometimes for a year or more without touching them. recently I've started keeping them out.... and I have to say i'm a little happier for it. I keep them out of direct sunlight, but like you, I'm resigned to yellow just happening! I think i'm desensitized to it a little bit because both of my dolls were from the MP and came with a little yellowing so I've come to be used to a little bit. My first doll was probably cast... 2008 or so? That's my guess- and he's slightly ivory tinted now even though he was kept in a box for so long. Endearing is a good word for it!

    17. My dolls never go back in their boxes once they come out. Not unless I'm moving or something like that.
I usually keep them out on my desk which is quite a ways from the windows and direct sunlight.
I really like having them around for company so the thought of putting them back in their boxes is a little weird to me.

    18. How much safer are dolls in their boxes anyway? The boxes seem to be made for shipping/looks, not long term storage. The main advantage to the original box would be a complete lack of sunlight, but using a case with UV protection and keeping dolls away from fluorescent lights and direct sunlight seems like a better option to me, even if it's not perfect. You've still got oxygen to contend with, but there's no helping that.

    19. All of my dolls are displayed in bookshelves with half glass doors, out of direct sunlight. I always keep the windows blinded and all the light bulbs are LED in the house. Also since heat causes yellowing, I keep the house at a constant 68-70 degrees at all times.

    20. Wow, that (and the lighting concerns) is a lot of work. It's interesting to read how others care for their collections, though I'm sure it's really frustrating for you. Have you had luck keeping the other leather goods contained?
