1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. *It seems the main problem is human contact with leather. When we touch them, we leave oil and bacteria which of course, will spawn mold. I remember playing with that belt when I first got it because I was admiring its craftsmanship. Boy do I regret it now!
*Also, my jewelry rusts and oxidizes pretty fast so the metallic stuff like my doll-sized guns and jewelry will probably react the same. I have to keep these things in plastic bags or plastic boxes as well and probably wipe them down after I handle them.
*I've also recently been informed that the nice Ikea rug I bought had ROTTED away while I wasn't home. I only got it 3 years ago. So that means my wool-hair and mohair had better watch out!
*I've discovered that my clothes, bed sheets, and books that I haven't touched for some time have some sort of mold growing in them. This means my poor dolly clothes will eventually as well. I've deducted that the nasty stuff they use to dye the clothes must be poisonous somehow so I've resolved to not wash any of them. The more poisonous these substances are, the better.

I know it sounds rather frustrating but it was because I didn't make an effort to take care of my stuff before, just leaving them lying around. Now I know, I'm taking all the extra precaution.

    2. All of my dolls are displayed, mostly behind glass. They're not in direct sunlight but it does get quite warm in that room.

    3. The reason that there are companies which specialize in archival cardboard storage containers is that even such an innocuous seeming item as ordinary, run of the mill cardboard box emits gases that can seriously damage the contents over time. Honestly, I have no proof that this includes resin, but since I don't want to risk yellowing my crew any faster than necessary, I don't leave them in their shipping boxes. You can buy all kinds of archival quality storage, so when my guys aren't hanging out behind drawn shades (which is rare), they're living in cramped, but moderately safe, quarters: The Dreaded Box.

    4. I play with my 2 every day so they sit next to my bed on my side table. I have to keep them away from my dogs. I would die if they got to them.

    5. I need mine out! My room windows don't face the sun (though I guess I get light anyway), but usually my 63 cm boy has his acquired blanket with him always. I know he will probably yellow at some point..(though it seems this company's normal skin is yellowish anyway) but I love him too much to put him away. Like a previous person said, even if I can't handle them everyday, I like being able to look at him or give him a pat on the head.

    6. My roommates and I are all into the hobby. And we all love displaying them out in the open for others to see~
They are part of the family and wouldn't dream of keeping them in boxes!
They're in the living room where its fairly lit, but not in the range of direct sunlight and we've never had a problem.
I say do whatever makes you comfortable.

    7. My doll stays in its box and only comes out when I want to play. Safer, I think. Dust, sunlight, insects, accidental damage, prying eyes, grabby hands, odours, moisture ... so many reasons not to have it on display! With BJDs being so expensive, I want to preserve my doll in its present condition for as long as possible and get many years of enjoyment from it.

    8. Since I got my first doll in 2006, they have been stored in a small black and white trunk/bench away from harm and sun. However, while I first viewed them as too precious and expensive to risk sitting out, I realized in the last couple months that they are an awful waste of money if I can't enjoy them and see them all the time. Now they sit out in my living room which has no direct light. I feel better about it. It's not like I ever plan on selling them. Don't get me wrong; I'm cautious about them and take good care of them. I just want to enjoy the money I spent. Maybe it's because money is slim now and I appreciate them more. XD

    9. My dolls are displayed in an IKEA bookcase with glass doors. The cabinet is all wood aside from the doors, so I have it right next to a window so no direct sunlight hits the dolls, but it still allows them to be displayed.

    10. Once they arrive I'll be doing both in the sense that I'd like to display them but with two brothers living with me who don't know about them I'll need to be keeping them in their boxes and out of sight. At least it'll be good for their condition. Still whenever they're not home (which is fairly often thankfully :D) I'll be putting them on display and when I eventually move out of home they'll probably be in shady spots yet on display :P. Didn't spend that much money to keep such beautiful things out of sight.

    11. I rather prefer my dolls being displayed. I agree about the sun and accidental damage so I just chose the safest and farthest from the direct sun light place and made an installation there.

    12. For the most part I keep mine in glass curio cabinets that are out of direct sunlight. The house has a great new Central AC and furnace, so the house temperature and humidity is fairly constant.

    13. I keep mine in boxes for safe keeping. Id hate to have someone bump the shelf and send my doll flying. D:

    14. I keep mine in their company box under my bed. I might have to move them into the closet at some point...And I hope I have enough room for the boxes of the other dolls I want to get.

I'm just really worried about yellowing, and I don't have a glass case or anywhere to really put them for display purposes - though maybe one day I'll be able to display them. Sometimes I do feel bad I just keep them in their box, but I think that's the best choice for me and my situation right now.

    15. After having gone to the trouble of building rooms for my dolls, they live in them! My doll room is in the basement, L shaped and the only light is from the north window that doesn't face the BJDs. Luckily I find the age mellowed cream color of the oldest (8yr) doll to be beautiful.

    16. I keep my dolls out of their boxes on a shelf in the closest of my craft room. So they stay in the dark unless I open the closet door. I like to leave them set up in cute poses and sometimes with props but I feel better knowing they're out of the light. I store doll clothes and wigs in their boxes.

    17. My dolls are sitting on my dresser, all the time. They are not in direct sunlight as I have my blinds down and closed 24/7. The only light is two incandescent bulbs, so my room is dark most of the time. As I live in a basement, it's relatively cool all year around. The only issue is moisture which affects the carpet and books, so I have little pots of Damp Rid around the room to soak up ambient moisture as I am allergic to mold. I'm not concerned about yellowing at all, as I got the dolls for pure enjoyment and seeing them makes me happy. So far I have not noticed any dramatic yellowing, even with the white dolls.

    18. I have three cats so I keep mine in boxes. They love to attack the dolls given the chance.

    19. Mine are out of the boxes and I got rid of them. I've only kept one box from my DC Jodie. I'm not going to sell my LS dolls and two that I bought don't have boxes to put them in. I feel like if I keep them away in a box there isn't much point to having them. I keep them on a desk shelf away from the window.

The only time I left them in the box is when they are nude and I've not had a chance to make them any clothes.

Edit: I haven't even thought about cats! If I still had either those or doggies I would probably keep them tucked away. My old kitty used to love destroying all my stuff.

    20. i keep my dolls on the top of my desk.. on a bed i made for my YOSD girl. they have a "dresser" and a toy box also. i kinda made it look like a bedroom. the sun does sadly hit them for part of the day.. but i try and keep the light off best i can.
i dont think i could leave them in their box.. i do keep the box.. but the way i see it.. i paid a ton for them.. i want to see them all the time. i never wear gloves.. i just make sure my hands are clean.. i like the feel of them. they are so soft!
