Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. dissapointment in volks?

Mar 13, 2011

    1. Well I think I'm forthing the hands thing. I really really really really don't like Volks' hand design. ._. At all. *but* that really honestly not something that would lead me to be disappointed.

I have an older Volks (2002 Myu) and a Newer Volks (2010 School D, 2005 Body) The resin is massively different. The oldskin resin has a more slick feel and the pureskin is more porcelain or tooth-y. I also have a Megi and my Megi's resin is somewhere inbetween the two different dolls. The strudiest resin I've ever handled is Fairyland ^^;; FYI

My other gripe with Volks is the MSD line's bodies is way too childlike ... I know there is SDC *but* I do like some of the MSD sculpts, and you can't really put an MSD head on an SDC Female. But despite being childlike, the detail and craftsmanship in the older models is still there. It's quite amazing that they bothered with so much detail. Who really needs to see shoulder blades, but they're there.

But other than what I consider minor gripes I'm really not at all disappointed in my Volks dolls. Quite the contrary. I love how I get them and I instantly bond with them. They're just something so ... natural about them. The head molds work perfectly for the characters I had, without even trying. I also like how finished the dolls were. I've bought two dolls directly from the company, neither one of My Volks girls, and both were very unfinished to me. My Megi was more finished than my ltf Shiwoo, which was a huge disappointment on my part(The Shiwoo not Megi ;) ), whereas both Volks girls felt like they were done.

As already mentioned a lot of what you're talking about is personal preference and older doll styling. I have to agree with what's been echoed, I think you should try a hybrid of the Lucas. Or you can try a newer body for him. SDGr might work? You might need blush the body and head for a closer color match but I know from personal experience you've got the talent :P You'll get the posing back you want.

    2. thanks anoniemouse. that's interesting about the older resin being so different...and i thought about a hybrid, but i do love his body sculpt. so, i think i will restring, wire, and suede, and see what happens then first.

      thanks!

    3. You can put an MSD head on an SDC body, they're virtually interchangeable, the only difference is that MSD hands probably won't fit the wristball for SDC girls, but SDC boys can probably wear them.

SDC heads range from being similar sizes to Yos to being the same as MSDs. My SDC Kurenai's neck hole fits the YoSD body and looks fine, but my SDC Kurt would look like the bobbliest YoSD in the world if I tried to put him on the body. Most SDC heads fit MSD bodies quite well.

    4. Which is what I meant about you really can't put an msd head on an sdc female body it looks weird... The heads do range in size, but on the whole the girls are closer to yo size than MSD. I could put my SD head on my MSD body and it would work but look very weird and that's how an msd head lloks to me on an SDC girl body :/

    5. Wow! That is impressive! And a sweet story.

I don't have a Volks (yet), but I'm looking forward to getting my Rinon. I've been wanting one for a while, since I got to play with a few, and I have to admit, the quality is lovely. The resin seems smooth and silky; on the other side, I've found I really like how the resin on Crobidolls has some tooth to it. I think, for my tastes, it depends on the doll and the model.

    6. anoniemouse, it really doesn't look as weird as putting an SD head on an MSD body, SDCs and MSDs are the same scale after all ;) But there's room for all different opinions on this forum.

Faerie_Speak, I'm jealous! I really love Rinon, I've banned myself from shopping in 2011, but next year I'm going to see about getting her for myself. She's such a gorgeous doll!
