1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do dolls really get that heavy?

May 9, 2022

    1. I personally don't find my 70+cm dolls that heavy, but i also have a cat that's over 14 pounds so i may be biased xD I kind of like the weight to them actually- it's kind of comforting. But if I needed to carry them for an extended period of time, I'd invest in some kind of carrying bag, but i'd do that for smaller dolls too.

    2. My girl is 66cm (Charm Doll), and I find her heavy and cumbersome. I probably would have sold her, but I have used the body to hybrid my Maskcatdoll Willow head, which I want to keep. But I don’t think I will buy any other SD dolls, which makes me a bit sad as there are so many lovely sculpts :...( Update… since writing this I have been spending more time photographing and changing the outfits on my girl, and have completely fallen for her. So much so, that I have decided I do want to buy more SD dolls! :XD::XD::XD:

    4. My heaviest is a Dollmore Trinity doll. She's super heavy, same weight as a little human (toddler i think) And she's all deadweight. But with sueding she's pretty good at holding poses, not any wild ones, but most normal ones. She has a saddlestand (considering a waithugging stand too) and sits rather well. Because of her weight she's hard to tip over XDD

    5. Trinities are normally 105 with flat feet and 110 with high heels. The boy they're working on is 120 i think. Did you find a different body for her anywhere? =O Would love to see if theres other options out there for diversitys sake.

    6. I mostly have 70cm dolls. They all have different weights. My granado and doll family H are quite heavy and I would never consider carrying them around for a long amount of time. My Doll Chateau is so light though. I could carry him around for hours.

    7. The height of a doll doesn't directly translate into weight, but it is a factor. I swear my Dollmore Model Doll, in all of her tall glory, is lighter than my Iplehouse EID. There's got to be something to the density of the resin in Iplehouse's dolls, but the channels for the elastic are also more narrow than they are on my Dollmore.

I took my Iplehouse SID to a non-BJD specific doll store one time, and one of the ladies that runs the store held her for a bit. She was actually surprised that I was carrying her around the whole time because she was so heavy.

    8. After years of collecting mainly MSD or vinyl SD, I was shocked by how much my 70cm dollshe boy weighed xD He's so heavy. I was also surprised by how heavy my SD10 Super Dollfie was, he wasn't uncomfortably heavy but definitely heavier than I expected. With him, the weight made him seem more real-ish? It felt more like holding a baby than a doll, as weird as that is

    9. Having spent the last fifteen minutes or so wrestling with my doll to get the interior plate between chest and torso back into position...geez, my 65cm female feels heavy. Makes for a good workout.

I have, however, carried her around at anime conventions all day and didn't really have much of a problem. I probably cheated a little by having a style of bag that she could be seated on when I needed both hands, but... /shrug

    10. I think they can get heavy but my problem with carrying a doll around is their bulk and the fact I'm worried about messing up their wig and clothes. Not very fun. If it was like carrying around a laundry bag where you're not too worried about accidentally bumping against something, I think the weight wouldn't be as bothersome.
