1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you aim to create a cohesive collection?

Aug 20, 2020

    1. I definitely prefer cohesion as far as type goes. In the past I have mixed my dolls together, and I see so many people do it flawlessly, but mine never looked good to me all grouped together. At this point I try to focus on either the same artist or size that look good together. It is cheaper that way too, since they can all share clothing etc.

    2. Yes, I desire cohesion in my collection. I'm currently aiming for sets of characters from my original stories in Fashion size. The two exceptions are my big Capcom boys [their sculpts are off-topic]. But even those might be shrinking to Fashion size eventually. I don't know. I love one of them a heck of a lot.

I recently got in a FID Bichun, who has just stolen my heart. His size is so accessible and awesome, and I want all of my dolls in that size now. They can so easily fit in a photo together, they can take up less space, they look adorable and gorgeous at the same time. It allows for several from each story without heavily compromising on space. Clothing is a little bit of an issue, as are wigs, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

As for company/artist cohesion, for the Fashion size notion, I'm focusing on Iplehouse and Raccoondoll. In the past, I didn't have a particular favourite that the majority had to come from. I just liked what I liked without trying to stick to one company/artist.

    3. cohesion wasn't something that really mattered to me when i was younger, so the dolls i do have now are pretty inconsistent. since i've come back to the hobby i've found that i definitely desire some level of consistency. i only have one character i really want to shell at the moment, but if a second one catches my heart then i'll definitely make an attempt to have the two mesh stylistically - anything less would bug the hell out of me.

    4. I collect mainly yosd and i have many different company including Myou Loretta. Mine is on the big body and she is the tallest, biggest head doll in my collection. What i do is let her stand behind so she doesnt feel too out of place.I like a wide variety of different size yosd and buy what i like. :)

    5. I am obsessive about my dolls having similar eye and head sizes. A doll doesn't go on my wish list if they don't fit that criteria. I have some that are more stylized and some that are more realistic, but I've decided that I'm ok with the variation as long as they are all in scale with each other.

    6. As a whole, my group isn't cohesive but I am nitpicky about characters that will interact need to look similar. I sold off a head because it was too different from the head that would be his boyfriend in proportions.

    7. I kind of thought that I'd have a cohesive collection when I first got into the hobby....but that went out the window pretty dang fast! I've got super tiny yoSDs, massive 70 cm, uncle dolls, MSDs... and with the exception of 2 who are both shelled D&D characters I've played, most aren't connected in what could be labelled a story sense.

I've got a steampunk-ish doll, a beautiful dark doll with rose-gray resin and unnatural eyes, a Homestuck fantroll, two kind of casual dolls, two D&D characters, a beautiful little unicorn....

They're all over the place and I kinda love it.

    8. I'm super into having a completely cohesive collection, and yes it's a goal of mine when choosing dolls. All of my dolls have to be in scale with one another and have a compatible level of realism/head and eye sizes.

    9. The way I plan to do it is to have minicollections relating to stories, right now I have a list of three dolls that are going to be cohesive and part of the same story and once I get them I can start on another mini collection.

    10. My collection is all over the map. My largest girl is 72.5 cm and the smallest is 12 cm. I have humans and elves. Some are realistically sculpted, others are more stylized. Cohesion is not super important to me.

    11. Where I am currently, a newbie with no dolls my plan is to have a cohesive group. I think it will be in relation to size than in style as I find that seems to be what I look at first.
But we will see how that turns out.

    12. When I think of cohesion, I think of either a set of dolls in relation to each other, or an entire group. Not directly on my entire collection. They'll all have something to do with each other in the larger narrative. Once I get to devising that narrative. So, some cohesion, some chaos.
