1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you associate BJDs with a certain time of year?

Sep 11, 2015

    1. When certain time comes, do you start feeling like this is a BJD time? Certain time of year, or even certain month?

For me, it is September. I got my first two dolls this month, and after a break in the hobby, this September I bought my third. There is something in the air, something in cool and fresh and sunny September mornings that remind me of my first years with these dolls. How I was writing to Dollmore, and then waiting for the dolls to arrive. Although my new doll will probably reach me only in October, it is obvious that September will be filled with constant thoughts of bjds again! :dance

    2. For me, it's usually winter. I tend to be broke throughout the year, but I have generous family and friends, so between winter holidays and my birthday in February, that tends to be the only time I can buy a doll outright without layaway or lots of saving up. Lucky for me, that also tends to be when most companies have the best events!

    3. I feel like I spend more time looking at dolls and wanting to play with them when the weather gets cooler in the late and early months of each year. During the late spring/summer I don't have a whole lot of an attention span for them.

    4. ugh... for me September is the last month of the summer holiday so... it's the opposite lol xD
But each June I just *know* that the 'doll time' comes soon :D As a uni student I have 3 months of holidays - half of it I devote to prepare for the school year (reading essays for my thesis etc) but half is just... omg... 24/7 of dolly sewing, dolly restringing, dolly photographing and so on :D So yeah....

Then I have some more time around Christmas... So then I work on all the stuff I didn't have time/inspiration for during the holidays ;)

that being said... the 'dolly time of the year' is enarly over for me... but I still take dolls to my dorm, so it's not that we're not going to see each other or something. Plus, I get to work on some small stuff during some weekends too during the school year :)

    5. Usually spring/summertime for me, because this is when I can work on them outside and sand resin, spray sealant, etc.

    6. I usually buy dolls or things for my dolls in the winter since I can justify my spending by saying it's a Christmas gift or birthday gift to myself. I play with my dolls all year round because I always have my sewing stuff out so it's ready to be used but most of the time, I lack the motivation to make clothes so my dolls sit there looking pretty.

    7. Autumn is definitely my season for dolls! The weather is nice and I get out and about more, which means I can get my dolls out and about more too. Plus the lower humidity makes spraying sealant so much easier.

    8. I definitely associated my dolls with Christmas. I always seem to buy my dolls sometime around christmas.

    9. Usually around Christmas time since I bought my first bjd on Christmas day, plus all the Winter event goodies you get around that time is the best. My second and third bjd were bought a year later around that time too.

    10. I was just thinking about this the other day. I definitely find myself getting more creative in the fall and winter months. I guess because I spent more time indoors, so I'm forced to entertain myself with sewing, prop making, etc...in the spring and summer I'm generally too busy to sit down and sew. I am a fan of cooler weather, so I just feel a bit more invigorated and inspired, even during snowy, gray days.

    11. For me all year round is bjd time, i do not have a specific month or season where i dedicate to my babies but i do like to dress them up according to the season or festive that is currently ongoing.

    12. This was a good question. I bet I'll always see winter time as dolly time just because I ordered my dolls in December. But seeing as i won't get them until February or March, I might see the beginning part of the year as dolly time. Either way, it's still technically winter.
