1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you care if other people like your doll?

Feb 9, 2011

    1. I'd be happy if people outside the community liked my doll, but it wouldn't really affect me much. And I wouldn't expect people in the community to react over my doll because compared to what's out there, she's a somewhat generic-looking sculpt (Shall from DoD), so if they did, I'd really be pleasantly surprised. :3

    2. Not really. Of course, I like it when others like them, but they are mine and only my opinion matters.

    3. Yes, I do care. It makes me happy. What makes me sad is when I go to meets, and after pictures are posted, only I take pictures of mine. My dolls barely show up in anyone else's pictures so I don't think most like my dolls.

    4. I don`t care. If other people like my dolls that's perfect but I buy my dolls for me and only my choice does matter for me!

    5. I would be happy if other people liked my dolls and it would make me feel like I must be doing something right. It's always nice to be told that people like what you have worked so hard on or that people agree with your taste. But I wouldn't go out of my way to please other people. If I am in love with a sculpt or design I'm not gonna change it just because it's not someone else's cup of tea. It's hard if it is a spouse or family member because you really want them to be supportive and love it as much as you do, but sometimes that may not be the case. In the end it boils down to the fact it is YOUR doll and you have to do what will make YOU happy.

    6. My family was iffy about bjds at first, but now they like him, which makes me happy :)

    7. I would be happy if other people like my doll. But i would not even bother to stress my self out on those people who don't.

    8. I'm not bothered if other people don't like my doll. However, if they go out their way to express a 'huge' dislike in my doll then I would say something because it isn't necessary to say out loud in a rude manner "Your doll is ugly" No, that is just rude and un-necessary and I will have to say something. However, if they keep it to themselves then that's fine, or give me constructive criticism about him.

The main thing is, I brought my doll for me and not anyone else.

    9. I wouldn't really care much if other people didn't like my doll, namely because at the end of the day everyone has different tastes, so as it's my doll I would prefer it to be to my tastes rather than anyone else's. So I would buy an unpopular sculpt if I liked it.

    10. I guess this is actually a tricky question. On one hand, I don't really mind whether or not other people like my dolls, but unfortunately adults who play with dolls often get certain disappointing labels, like "creepy," or "weird." I wish that I was a brave enough person to say with confidence that I don't worry about those labels, but I do.

Let's assume, though, that the other people in my life like dolls...but they just don't like the particular doll I've chosen.
No, that I don't mind at all. After all, it's mine. I'm the one who has to like it.

    11. Nope, it's going to be my doll and not someone else's for a reason anyway right ? xD

    12. All dolls are pretty in they're own way. What's there not to like :)

    13. Nope, cause I buy them for my pleasure.

    14. In order for me to bond with a doll and be willing to spend money on it I REALLY have to fall in love with it, so no matter what anyone says I don't buy dolls to make THEM happy, I buy dolls to make MYSELF happy. I just actually ordered a doll that my boyfriend doesn't really care for, and he has such an interest in my dolls that my friends call him the *ahem* baby daddy (I know) and he just has this weird...thing against the doll I just ordered but he's gonna have to suck it up because this thing is my baby

    15. I am going through this right now, the sculpt that I want for my shifter priestess my boyfriend absolutely hates. Generally I don't care what my family and friends opinion of my dolls is (luckily they understand and like them) but my boyfriend is very involved in the faceup and character building process so that is tricky, but in the end it's you who has to live with the choice.

    16. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me. I think they're gorgeous, and it's a fun, silly, hobby to get into. I love making clothes and costuming, but I'm far to impatient to make things for myself. A doll is the perfect solution.

One of my partners says the dolls are strange. The other calls them "creepy little plastic surgery monsters."

It frankly just cracks me up :)

    17. I take the same stance as I do with my fashion: If people don't like it, I still don't care. I like it, and it makes ME happy, so that's all that matters!

    18. If I love the doll then I don't care if anyone else likes her. I feel like they don't have to like her as its my doll.

    19. It doesn't matter to me. I buy them because I like them and get pleasure out of them.

    20. I mean, it's always nice when someone loves a sculpt as much as I do, but it doesn't effect my opinion about the doll if someone doesn't.
