1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you care if other people like your doll?

Feb 9, 2011

    1. I don't care if people like my dolls or not but saying that I do appreciate it when someone comments and she's beautiful.

    2. I get dolls that I like. Even if I don't care for other people's choices, I can appreciate that they would not have spent a lot for it, unless they really liked it.

I get the dolls I like. But I can appreciate that not all doll people share my taste, and can find something about most dolls that I can appreciate.

    3. I don't care at all, I just purchase dolls that I like.

    4. :)I don't care if people like my dolls (obitsus) or not everyone has there own hobby's. It's called if you don't have anything nice to say to someone then don't say anything.

    5. In general, I believe that people buy BJDs to make themselves happy. If the rest of the community likes it, then great! But if they don't, it's not a big matter to me. I buy my dolls to make myself happy. Just my two cents.

    6. I couldn't say I absolutely don't care but it is always nice to get positive comments :)
I had negative comments before and most of them are individual preferences. Don't really bother about that too much :XD:

    7. it is nice to have people like my doll but as long as I am happy I don't care

    8. Although it would bother me if people said negative things about my dolls, I wouldn't let it determine which ones I got or what I did with them. Well, actually, it would probably make me hesitant to share them, but I wish that wasn't the case. I definitely wouldn't make purchases or styling choices I didn't like based solely on other people's taste. I'd just take my dolls and go play by myself!

    9. When it's someone's opinion that I respect or I have specifically asked for feedback -- then I care. Other than that, nope!

    10. My dolls ultimately they have to suit me. That's it, but it's never nice to have someone make unkind comments about anything you own, particularly when you've worked on it a lot. That does hurt my feelings. Not everybody is a professional artist or can afford the services of one and I've seen some really negative comments like "Well, so and so should really just leave the face ups to the professionals because her face ups are so bad they're offensive to the hobby!" Yes, I actually read that recently on one of those BJD confessions sites and my jaw just dropped.

I was like WHAT? Aren't we the hyper critical little snob? Sheesh. It made me wonder if he/she was born with a brush in her hand or something. I mean REALLY. You have to be a pro to do a doll's face and show it off? Me, I'm just proud when mine finally look halfway decent. My art skills, off a computer, are definitely less than stellar and I am well aware of that. But I can't afford to hire someone to do my dolls and even I could mostly I like doing them myself even if the results don't look like they belong on a dolly Vogue cover. I don't mind a little constructive critique but only when I ask for it, please, otherwise I just don't want to hear it. If you can't be civil and find something nice to say then don't say anything, be polite at least...

    11. If it family member, I do consider some since I don't want any of them feel disturbed or bothered by my doll, considering that I still living with them.
I find that sometimes their opinion can change though. When I show the doll blank face, they say it's creepy but with faceup, suddenly they say it's cute which make me kinda happy :)

    12. The only thing that matters to me is that I like the doll. Ultimately, I'm going to buy what I want to buy with my money. If someone I respect has something to say I'll listen, but I will definitely make the decision on my own.

    13. I know people don't like my dolls, but I don't care. ^^ They're not me and they didn't spend their time and money on my dolls. oAo They'll always be my pretty dollies~

    14. I could say no, but if fact, I'm very happy when someone likes or love my dolls ! So I've to be honest...

    15. I would be lying to myself if I said that I didn't mind people saying nasty things about my dolls or their looks. I know everyone has their own opinions of what they like in clothing/style wize etc. and I can understand that, but if it's said that dolls in general are ugly, scary, disgusting whatever it kinda makes me jump a bit. I rarely say anything back to them but I will get a bit disheartened. Happily most of the guys and girls I hang out with are pretty open with things and accept the different things in life. :)

But when we talk about sculpts in general I really don't care if the sculpt I want is outcast in the BJD field or not. If I truly like the doll I will get it even if it's generally unpopular. I do have several dolls that aren't for the usual tastes of the hobbyists but all that matters is that I like it. :aheartbea I even rarely photograph my dolls or take them to meetups and I think there's no other than me that knows what my collection has included. ;)

    16. I'd be lying if I said no; I mean, in terms of people liking my dolls, what's really being said here is, I like people approving of what I've done creatively with someone else's creation. "She's so cute/he looks adorable/ oh wow, what an awesome wig," for me boils down to "Hey random stranger! I approve of your choices." Approval makes people feel good; who doesn't want to be liked?

But aesthetically speaking, in my collection, I own three Dollzone dolls and some people just do not like them. And that's okay! My dolls aren't going to be their cup of tea, and they have every right to feel that way. In reality, no one is going to say (to my face) that my dolls are ugly junk; they may disapprove of me or my collection online, in a confession box somewhere where I'll probably never see it, and in that sense, I don't care. I'm one out of hundreds of doll owners, and I like knowing that I am a piddly no one in the grand scheme of things. Gives me more time to swirl my brandy and play with my dolls.

    17. My family hated Ringdoll Jack the Ripper but I ignored them and bought him anyway! They kept saying he was super creepy, but I could see the beauty in him. If you think the doll is lovely, don't worry about what other people say! It's all about personal taste! (Just saying, when my Jack the Ripper arrived they changed their mind. It's all about how you customize them)

    18. I really don't care if other people like my dolls. All that matters is that I like them.

    19. I think in a case like yours, if it were going to be your only doll, then consider their input. But, if you have more than one, then get the doll just for you and let them eat cake

    20. I don't care if my family members don't like my doll, but on the flip side I hope others in the hobby will like her. Not many people own Magic Time dolls, apparently, and that makes me nervous. The wiki here on DoA doesn't even include their 1/4 line. ;-;
