1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you care if other people like your doll?

Feb 9, 2011

    1. So I just dropped in this thread after a million years and saw this...lol it was Dollmore for me too. Which was probably obvious, but I didn't state it in my original post, and I think I may have only owned one (or possibly three) at the time I encountered said rude person (so not quite as obvious now...with about a third of my dolls coming from DM).

I think it's a little sad to dislike any whole company thanks to one or two molds that they don't like. There are a lot of Fairyland molds I don't care for and I'm not crazy about any of their bodies bigger than LTF, yet I still own plenty of their dolls. And for that matter, while Dollmore is my favorite company I don't love every doll they put out (if I did I'd be so doomed).

But whatever, people will do what they do, and like what they like. The internet is a gigantic place and there are always going to be people who don't share our tastes. If we all stressed over other peoples opinions of our dolls, it would drive us insane(er. Or maybe that's just me XD), and cause us to give up the dolls we really love in favor of something not so great.

    2. No, I don't care. It's my doll, end of story. Taste is relative, after all. I'll also gender-neutral a doll via sanding if the character is the opposite of the doll's "downstairs business" and don't care that it depreciates the value of the doll. It'd be heartbreaking to have to sell one of my resin critters, I don't look at them as dollar signs. O.o

    3. i don't care...it's my doll at the end and my money hello! lol XD
my daughter sometimes don't like the sculpts i like, but that doesn't stop me from liking them or wanting them. i am not into this hobby to pleasure other people's tastes and eyes, i am in it to enjoy myself, so if they don't like it, too bad for them.

    4. not really, I stopped caring if people like/dislike my stuff or not because I like and that's really all that matters
but it does make me happy when someone else likes it too :)

    5. I would like for people to like my doll, of course, but that wouldn't influence my decision. If I really wanted a doll that everyone hated I would get it anyways! :thumbup

    6. No, I don't care. It's always nice to get recognition of something you do but it's not necessary. We all have a different taste.

    7. hmmm... on some level i think everyone wants to be praised for something they do but 99% of the reasoning behind my choices is just what i want to do with them. if people like them, thats a plus. but im doing it for me

    8. A tiny bit, but not really. I buy dolls because I like them, and not for any other reason. Of course, having other people like them is a plus, but it's not necessary.

    9. Apparently not. I just had the worst experience ever last night :( I was out in the garden of our apartment complex, and a man literally came out of his apartment, into the garden, to yell at me for having a doll.

The only thing I was able to do was just verbally WAIL on him. I told him some things that would make most grown men cry, and I just...I said the meanest things ever to him, ever D:

He just..came outside of his apartment, from nowhere, crossed the garden and came out to me to ask me what I was taking photos of; noticed my doll, and told me how disgusting she was, and how that was the grossest, nastiest thing he'd ever seen.

It didn't end well; I won the battle in the end because he left.

    10. people are horrible these days

    11. I don't care about most people's opinions, but I care about my best friend's. I sometimes ask her which of two sculpts she likes better, and choose based on that. Because often what she prefers, ends up being the ones I like better after sometime. It's not that I don't choose myself, I just like hearing her opinion. She'll point out what she likes about the certain sculpt, and I'll see it in a new light. Our tastes are very similar, so I trust her a lot, but in the end, if we disagree, I'll go with my own choice.

    12. my best friend, who i thought would REALLY love BJDs, completely brushed it off when i said she should get into it. her response after a few seconds of really awkward silence was "... maybe" but in a "are you f*ing nuts?" kind of tone. so i have absolutely no one i can talk to dolls about offline unfortunately ^^; oh wait actually there is someone... but we dont get along. and her girlfriend hates me. so yeah. no one

    13. Hmmm.... interesting question. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about whether other people like my dolls or not. I'm quite new to DoA and fresh to the hobby, and I haven't really posted any pictures of my dolls yet so I'm not really sure what people's opinions on my dolls are. On one hand, the are my dolls, and I love them unconditionally no matter what, even if somebody else were to dislike how they looked, or their stories. On the other hand, I have invested a lot of money and time in them, and I would greatly appreciate if other people enjoyed and loved my dolls as I did. It kind of hurts my feeling thinking about other people not liking what I have put so much attention and love into. I guess there's a part of me that doensn't really care, but a part of me that does. If that makes any sense. :)But I will love them no matter what, even if other people don't.

    14. My family thinks my dolls are weird looking and my friends think that they're the creepiest things ever. But I don't really mind too much, because they're what I'm into and it's what I think about them that really matters.

    15. I'll always ask for an opinion from my only bjd-friend. He's usually against my opinion. I never care. But it's pretty nice to hear conforming words now and then. My other friends think the hobby is weird, for a guy that is; I don't care.
I'm not that open about the hobby, but I would never decline it either. You can really see who's open minded when opposed with such a hobby as this.

    16. I like it when people like my doll, but if they don't, that's alright too~
They're my babies, so what I find is what matters the most <3

... They'll grow on people. Yep. Given enough time. +nods+

    17. i dont care actually, they are my dolls and i dont need people's opinion about my dolls =p what matters most is i love my dolls and thats it

    18. Nope not in the slightest, although it's nice if they do!
      If they don't that's fine!

    19. I don't really care, but once my grandmother commented "Well he's not pretty is he?" on my Jace. I just stared at her as if she'd hit me, so she left the room ahah!
But no, I don't care, as long as people don't tell me in a rude way?

    20. Not One bit. It's what makes you happy that matters. and that's what hobbies are for anyway. So anyone who don't like my dollies, good for you! I didn't purchase them for your sake lol :) Do what makes you happy so you don't end up regretting your purchase.
