Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you change your doll's wigs and eyes?

Dec 10, 2005

    1. I change both frequently -- until I hit on the 'right' look. Then I stop completely. None of my dolls have 'changeable' looks; they are what they are, and that's how they'll stay. Only one changed from how I originally put the doll together, when they finally started producing doll wigs in the color his character had always had -- and his eyes had to change as well, to match the wig. With a couple of my dolls it was 'right' on the first try; with one the only variation was trying on various fur wigs in the color I wanted to see which wig I liked best. But once my dolls are set, they're set. If I ever have a character with color-changing hair and eyes, then we'll revisit this topic. :3

    2. Sometimes I change both eyes and wigs if I feel like it will suit the look I want. Sort of like you can change your hair or put in colored contacts. That being said one of my boys only wears white wigs. I just change them for different styles or if i want his hair longer.

    3. I buy my dolls specific wigs and eyes

    4. I like to change eyes and wigs. It's depends on outfit and style.

    5. I change eyes and wigs till I find something that works, but it's never a drastic change for the character.

Like, for my doll, Charis, she has blond hair and blue eyes. The wig I originally got for her was awful and her eyes were kind of dull. So I bought a new wig and eyes for her that were much better, but they were still blonde and blue and she still looked like the same doll... just better. :)

Right now I'm waiting on a new wig for my doll, Felix because the one he has is a little long for him. It's almost the same color, but hopefully the new one will look a little more fitted.

    6. I love changing the wigs and eyes. I change them a lot more than the clothes.

    7. I change outfits/eyes/hair until i find something that 'fits' for me, and then i pretty much don't change anything after that.

    8. I change wigs for my dolls regulary. I love to change the color of my own hair, so I can't take that my doll is wearing one wig:)

    9. Yes and I am trying to find the most suitable eyes for them to wear. If I found one, I might not change the eyes so often. And as for wigs...the more the better I would say. :P

    10. Like Pryani4ka, I dye my own hair regularly, so I can't imagine my dolls ever keeping the same haircut indefinitely. I use my dolls for sketching or art reference, not so much for role playing, so I change wigs and eyes out all the time. I would need 50 dolls if I never changed out their looks!

    11. Nope. There's usually 1 wig and 1 pair of eyes for each of my dolls - the exception being Seraphine, who has several wigs of the same colour and length but in different styles. I suppose specific photoshoots might call for different wigs and eyes, but definitley for every day stuff I think it's more realistic for them to have the same eyes all of the time, and I do prefer them having one consistant hairstyle for just every day stuff. My hair's been the same colour and style since I was 14 though (20 now; granted I'm growing it so it's longer) so that might be why :sweat

    12. No. I set the character of my doll so I don't change their eyes and wig.

    13. I think pretty much everyone does since dolls are meant to be customized. I do mine too but not too often. I'd say once in every 6 month~year.

    14. Yes, for wigs I change them all the time and my dolls never wear the same wig/style for long (and thats why I buy many wigs.. >< ), for eyes I change them only when I find the right ones for my dolls :)

    15. 1. Do you change his/her wigs/eyes frequently or do you settle on one combination after you've found out about you're dolls personality?
I try to keep the same or similar colors but yes, I do change wigs on my dolls. As for eyes I tend to stick to one pair when Ive found just the right ones!

      2. Have you changed the look of you're doll and fell out of love with him/her?
No, if I dont like a wig or a pair of eyes I just change back n_n

      3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?
I own three dolls(one more comming soon plus floating two heads) and I own a few wigs (five or six?) and a lot of eyes (I need to sell some! xD )

    16. When I buy a doll, I buy 2 or 3 wigs and eyes because I like change her look regulary.

    17. 1. Do you change his/her wigs/eyes frequently or do you settle on one combination after you've found out about you're dolls personality?

I do change them, yes, but not all that often. Certain wigs and outfits seem to go better together though I tend to stick with similar colors with wigs. I don't change a doll from blond to dark or from red to blonde very often. Eyes, less often, but now that I have dolls where I can I custom them a lot to begin with. I rarely keep in the default eyes.

      2. Have you changed the look of you're doll and fell out of love with him/her?

No, usually it's the opposite. I like them more not less.

      3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?

I'm a shameless wig and eyeball collector. I probably have 150 wigs, easily, most of which were not bought for $20 or more. I have craft bead boxes full of parts I scavenge parts from all kinds of dolls I find used at the thrifts and that I don't really want. I make wigs all the time too, from scratch with loose kanekalon hair from the beauty shop, and from oddball things like yarn and fabric doll heads. Even before I had dolls where I could change the eyes out I had spare sets of interesting eyes in boxes waiting for the day. Sometimes I see a doll I couldn't care less about but I love the eyes. So I wait till it's on major discount and then I buy one and cut it open to get at the parts I want like eyes, then take the wigs, et all.

I have a lot of dolls. Probably 500 though they are mostly not BJD's. I'm a huge Barbie collector and I have lots of bigger fashion dolls too. Many of those are wigged. The whole BJD thing that's new. So far I only have some vinyl (OT) ones and the two resin bodies coming so far. When I get those and have heads on those it will be the start of a whole new adventure for me, grin. They'll have a whole wardrobe of options. M
y new BJD's won't lack for wigs, eyes and other stuff. I'm well equipped. I just need to get them together. Eyes and such, I got. I've even got resin bodies now, just need some HEADS....

    18. When I get the other head I will be switching my boy's eyes and wig when I switch heads. He has split personality disorder and through his eyes his other self has different hair and eyes, so I need to do some switching for pictures and such :] As for the girl I will someday have! I probably won't switch her eyes unless I decide I like another color better, but I'd like to have wigs in different lengths and styles (same color though) so she can look casual or fancy without me having to do extra work to style and possibly ruin a wig.

    19. I hadn't felt adventurous enough to change my dolls eyes yet. I do have a few different wigs which I change around to suit different outfits.

    20. I change wigs quite often, expecially to the girls, boys are more steady for both cuttings and hair colours, but sometimes I like to give a change also to them.
Eyes are permanent unless I need to change them for some reason (ex.: my Dominic likes to cosplay, so he has got optional wigs and eyes)!
