Do you change your doll's wigs and eyes?

1. Do you change his/her wigs/eyes frequently or do you settle on one combination after you've found out about you're dolls personality?
I've more or less settled on a certain hair color and eyes, and don't plan to deviate from that much. I'm considering changing the eyes of my Bei, but they will still be the same color, so I'm much like you in that respect.

2. Have you changed the look of you're doll and fell out of love with him/her?
No, it hasn't happened yet, but i'll likely try that if it were to come down to it. I don't want to regret selling a doll.

3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?
Actually, I only have a few sets of extra eyes and one spare wig, currently. It wasn't difficult to find something I liked for both the dolls.

 

it depends on the dolls, I tend to stick w/ one pair of eyes and change wigs (though i tend to stick in the same color-range generally), i change clothes and wigs a lot but eyes i'm less likely to change once i find what works really well.

and if i'm "falling out of love" w/ a doll i'll try changing out clothes, wigs and eyes often just to see if another look clicks for me ... sometimes you can fall back in love

I have 32 dolls and maybe 3 times as many eyes. My anthro dolls (pipos) don't wear wigs though so i don't have any wigs for them, I have only about 40 or 45 wigs at the moment.

 

Thanks for your answers! When I learned what you can change about these dolls, I was like "wow, i can give them a whole different look whenever i want to!!" but now that I have her, I don't feel like changing her. I rather spend my money on dolly clothes^^ But it's really interesting to see what you guys think!

 

At the first, I want to keep my girl like the promo photos. But then I bought some wigs for her and she looks more like I want~ :3

1. I change her wigs when I think it needs to be changed, to match her outfits. I don't change her eyes, she has a pair of beautiful clear blue eyes that I want for her~

2. When I change her wigs & outfits, it seems change her look & personality a bit, but I still love her to bits~

3. Right now I only have one, heheh... But I plan to have around 4 or 5 wigs for each doll & a pair of eyes with desired color~ ^___^

 

All of my dolls have their own distinct style, hair color, and eye color. My Ani came with random eyes that were blue and just perfect for her, and I have never changed them, even though I originally envisioned her has having brown or green eyes. On the other hand I am still trying to find the right eyes for my DZ bunny. Ani has, and will always have blond wigs and probably even very similar style wigs. She wears lots of light colors like baby blue and pale pink. Mel's colors are black and pink. Her current wig is black with pink streaks. I used to have a pink wig for her, but I though of that as more a "Halloween" style for her. Any change of wig for her I see as more a hair cut than a change in hair color. Most of her clothing is black.

Fran and Balthier's appearances are set in stone other than a slight debate over Balthier's eyes. They're characters from a game, so the whole point of having them is that they look like the game.

I think for me, all these things are set in stone because of how the characters were planned. I have another character I'd like to get a doll for some day, and that character will change a lot for both wigs and eye color. I chalk this up to the character dying their hair all the time and wearing colored contacts. In fact, I haven't even quite decided yet if the doll is a girl or a boy lol.

Most of the time I change the wigs/eyes a lot, though there are a few things that are static: Once I put the 18mm Rosewood eyes in Azel, they've just stuck with him! I'd like to get some hazel eyes for him, though. Shin keeps his default wig on mostly. :p Everything else changes!

Uh, you know, some eyes/wigs make Shin's face look really fat. XD But that's it.

I own 5 dolls, and maybe.... 12 or 13 wigs? One of the dolls is an MSD out of my SD13's, and one of them is a girl out of all my boys, so they have special wigs, but I'd say roughly 2 per doll. :p

For my boys, I don't change wigs, but for girls, I like to have a few in the same hair colour so they can change their style. I don't like changing hair colour on my dolls, though, since it's part of their character.
Eyes I play with a little more, within the range of colour and style I want for the doll. Especially when I got some ED eyes for my newest doll, and then passed them around the other dolls, to see how they looked. I'm hooked. More of those for the others, definitely.

Usually changing the look of my dolls makes me love them more, since I'm making them better fit my concept.

Four dolls - six sets of eyes - seven wigs, but need more, as I've trashed a couple. (I've been learning to make wefted wigs as I have trouble finding mohair wigs that are the right size and style for what I need.)

 

1. Nope. I don't have very many to choose from. However, they all seem to be set in their colors. Dakota's a redhead, Eros is a brunet and Micah is blond. Micah and Dakota are the only ones who have gotten non-default wigs, but both of those were very similar colors to the ones they came with and I have a hard time seeing them in anything else.

2. Nope, only more in love with them. Although, I have yet to change eye color.

I settle on one combo, generally. My girls might wear different hairstyles (Finn wears her hair straight sometimes, curly sometimes) occasionally or for specific photoshoots, but basically the color is set. I may upgrade the eyes or hair, but the colors are generally specific to the character and don't change much. My Resinsoul tiny is a fairy, so she has "human eyes" and "fairy eyes" and can change her look, and the Puki has various hair colors, but the others are pretty set once they're right.

No. I usually have a pretty good idea of what the doll should look like before or not long after it arrives, so once it's right I don't really change it. I have changed things and started liking a doll MORE though. Faceups make a big difference as well as hair and eyes.

I have 14 dolls and some on the way. Each mini boy has one wig, but Finn has two, and I have a couple spares usually used for new ones when they first arrive. The SD boys have more wigs to choose from, I've gotten a couple as gifts and some are just extras. The Resinsoul tiny has a few wigs, since I can buy hers for a few dollars at the toy store, and the Puki has 3-4 I think. I have more wigs on the way, mostly intended for upcoming mini dolls, and I'm about to buy a replacement wig for one of my current boys. I have more extras on eyes, as I am working on changing to glass and have bought quite a few inexpensive pairs looking for just the right ones for each doll. Plus eyes just seem to randomly turn up, most dolls come with them, but I don't end up using those, and they're not unusual freebies to get either.

My dolls are based on characters I've had for between 5 - 15 years at this point, so they all have very set looks. Once I get the exact shade of eyes and hair my guys stick with that permanently, though I might change a doll's eyes or wig a couple of times to try and get the look as close as possible to the way I see him or her in my head before I settle with something.

Nope - my guys' set looks avoid that whole issue.

I have 19 dolls and a couple of extra wigs and eyes thanks to my shopping around to try and find each doll's exact shade or style, but I do my best to sell any eyes/wigs that don't make the grade and so aren't being used by anyone anymore.

I try very hard to find just the right wig for my guys early on (since I already have looks and characters set out for them in advance) and then leave it at that, I've found I just connect better with the doll if his hairstyle is correct in the beginning and for my two larger dolls they've never changed out of the wigs I bought for them since they worked just so well for them.

My little guys have all gone through about three wigs each on the search for just the right one; one is finally pretty much settled with his, another I'm still on the fence about but I think his wig will stay and the last I'm still on the search for something possibly better to suit him. Sometimes I like to just play around and switch their wigs to see how it looks, but it's just when I'm toying around with them so they always go back to their original styles that actually suit them. As for eyes, I'm not too focused on them at the moment so they all only have one pair each and it stays that way. In the future I hope to have a variety of eyes but even then I will still stick to particular colors for certain dolls until I find just the right brand I'm looking for and I hardly think I will stray from it.

No, but I did find it somewhat difficult to bond with my first big doll when he arrived to me with this horribly curly wig that didn't suit him at ALL and bright blue eyes(and a broken finger but that's beside the point). Thankfully his brown eyes arrived in the mail two days later as did his beautiful long straight wig and since then he's absolutely clicked with me

Five dolls and one floating head, I think around 7 pairs of eyes as the two extras were gifts. As for wigs, they each have one that suits them so that's 5 and then a few odd wigs mixed in that probably bumps it up to around 8 or 9. Most of these extra belong to my last mini boy who is still on the hunt for his perfect wig.

Dolls are based on an pre-established characters. Wigs and eyes are permanent and found prior to even having the doll in-hand.

Each doll has one wig, one pair of eyes. That's all. I might purchase duplicate wigs of the same style/color but nothing more. I go about this hobby quite differently than most people.

For me, it depends on the doll. All of my guys have established eye and hair colours, but some of the characters are the sort to change colours on a whim and to wear coloured contacts, so they do sometimes get changed. Eye colour changes more than hair colour, though, and the one who gets hs eyes changed most often is my AA Er, who usually has a different one of the various pairs of soom gothic or other oddly coloured pairs of eyes I've got in every week or two. The rest of my crew usually keep whatever combination I've settled on for them.

Nah. I do the opposite, actually. Sometimes it takes juuust the right eyes and wig for me to really like a doll, or to like him aagain if I've gotten bored with him (as was the case for my Weylin, whom I was thinking of selling until he got a faceup, eye and wig change).

Uh...I actually own less than one wig per doll. I have a puki and a DZ Mo who are currently bald, and everyone else just has the wig they usually wear. For eyes I have more than one pair per doll, mostly because my Er and El are eyewhores and just *have* to have the weirdest eyes I can find. XD

 

you should leave the eyes and wig the same if you want to. maybe one day you will get a doll that demands to have its hair and eyes changed on a regular basis.. know what i mean?

Once I've found the right look, never. Maybe to upgrade to a better quality but that's it.

I have extra wigs I'm trying to sell right now, but otherwise they have one each.

I've shuffled a little until I found the perfect wig-eye combination for my doll. (or the only one whole at the moment) The eyes and the wig I have on Ilaena are so her it would feel odd changing them. It wouldn't really be her anymore.. Though I've been pondering if I should change her wig to brown... She's still a bit under construction, but after i've gotten the right combo for her, I doubt I'd change her.

Nope, never. I'll just go back if I don't like a certain look.

My dolls don't have set characters so I have no problem changing wigs and eyes frequently. I haven't counted lately, but I definitely have many more wigs and eyes than I do dolls.
It's amazing what a difference a new hair color/style can make--eyes too, it's like having a new doll! And since, for me, half of the hobby is photographing the dolls, I like the variety of models.
I have not fallen out of love with any of my dolls to date. Rather, I find that I appreciate them more and more.

Once I've found the right combination I am loathe to change it. My doll's default eyes are exactly what I was looking for with her, so I haven't (and don't plan on) changing them. The random wig she came with was also great for her, and the only other wigs she has are essentially variations/different styles of the first. My anthro doesn't wear clothes or wigs, and I'm still waiting on her perfect eyes. My boy still has his default eyes because I'm having difficulty acquiring the perfect pair, and I haven't tried enough wigs on him yet to know what his style is.

Not really, but I sort of do the opposite, and don't fall in love with a doll until I find their perfect look. I didn't "get" my girl's style at first, and now that I've found it I love her all the more. I haven't connected as much with my boy because his look isn't quite right yet.

I have three dolls, two wigs for my girl and one for my boy. I have four pairs of eyes total.

I was originally really excited about the possibility of so much customization, but the characters I've matched to my dolls don't change things like hair or eye color frequently, so their "look" tends to remain fairly static. The upside to that is I can save more money that way...

 

1. Only with Peter; I went through a couple of wigs and eyes before I found what I was looking for, look-wise. I already had a character in mind, and wanted a specific look for that character; and when I found the right pair of eyes to go with the right wig, everything clicked into place. X3

2. Nope. :> With all my dolls, they have a set look planned for them from the beginning. It's really just a matter of me finding the right eyes or wig to make that look come to fruition.

3. At present, I have five dolls, and one extra wig and one extra pair of eyes. The eyes I'm going to sell if I can ever be bothered, and the extra wig is being saved for when I get some more Lost Boys.
