Do you change your doll's wigs and eyes?

1. Do you change his/her wigs/eyes frequently or do you settle on one combination after you've found out about you're dolls personality?
I admit I tend to settle on one combination, and only change it if I'm dissatisfied with it for some reason. Sometimes I can't find the color/style combo I want or the right eye type/color for awhile.

2. Have you changed the look of you're doll and fell out of love with him/her?
Well I suppose I'd just change back if this happened! But basically I'm more likely to sell a doll than change its wig/eyes combo. Especially if I was never able to find what I wanted for it in the first place.
In general I'm very stodgy and hate change of any sort! This extends to my dolls.

3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?
I keep few extras. I have the opposite of the hoarding impulse!
I have extra eyes, but it's because I need to have a lot of different sizes on hand for showing completed commissions to people.

Once I have their look, no, it doesn't change. The wig might, to see different hair styles, but that's not often either.

As for hair and eyes to the dolls...46, I think, dolls, and even more wigs and eyes...

I tend to change wigs around a lot, depending on the faceup, but, by now, the eyes have become more or less constant, though sometimes, I would also change them to match their faceups. And I tend to change their faceups quite often too...

I guess it's normal for me to give them ever-changing looks? Because I tend to do it to myself too...

Hm, there was one faceup I did on Fatality that caused me to put him away for months. Then I gave him another one and it was alright. Eyes and wig-wise, it tends to be more of a 'hm, that doesn't look good' and I'll just take it off.

I used to have about 10 pairs of eyes for 2 dolls, and about the same number of wigs. The wigs will be increasing, but the eyes have been reduced to about 4 pairs for 3 dolls, though those might increase too, considering I seem to have found nice cheap glass eyes...

 

Wigs are easy to change, and I love buying new wigs. It's the easiest way to give a doll a new "look."

Eyes, not so much. I had to chip out the eyes of two of my dolls to give them eyelashes, and then putting in the new ones was more of a pain in the butt than it should have been. Eye putty isn't cheap and sometimes eyes are finicky and refuse to lie straight and whatever. Dollmore gives you free eyes with orders over a certain amount, so I just basically assumed that whatever eyes they gave me were going to my SD boy (since his were damaged from the chip-chip-chipping). Soooo ... I have no extra eyes laying around.

I don't do the "doll personality" thing, so that's not a matter for me. But I do pay attention to how they look. If the eyes hadn't looked right aesthetically-speaking, I would probably change them. Wigs are part of an outfit.

I own five dolls in-hand, one head, two on the way. No extra eyes. Lots and lots of wigs, and I can't wait to buy some more! My Honey Delf probably has 8-10 wigs just for herself. But I think my SD sized dolls need some more, since I have two (and one head and two on the way who use that size wig). More more more. I lovezzzzzz wigs.

Depends on the doll - some of my dolls look good in many different wigs and eyes. Others are determined to look good only in one combination

No not really. If I do not like the look, I change the look rather than the doll

I have more wigs and eyes than dolls (because each has at least one set that work and there are loads of eyes and wigs that they just reject )

 

I don't have a BJD yetvbut I'll have my first one soon and I've thought about this before. I don't think I'll change her hair often, and when I do it'll be more like a new haircut or hairstyle, like you said. Maaaybe every once in a great while I'll try some whole new hair, but I don't know. It seems kind of weird, heh.;;
As for the eyes.. I don't know. I don't have experience with this so I don't know what differences new eyes would make, but I guess I don't plan to do many changes in that area either, just because it doesn't seem very consequential.

I guess I plan on having different dolls if I want different looks. Or at least different heads. (Which feels a little like cheating, but doesn't feel insincere like changing the entire personality of a specific head.)

my dolls tend to have defaults, I never change their eyes once the default has been found, while their wigs change very little, an update here, a slight change there, but nothing major. I only have one doll that changes wigs with any regularity and that is a part of his character, he changes his hairstyle a lot.

yes, but that was actually by changing the doll, getting a new mold for that character, or by giving a new character to the doll.

3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?I have a habit of ending up with spare wigs and eyes, usually eyes, because I get free acrylic ones when I buy them, then have to purchase the perfect eyes for them later.

NOOOOO. XD I have changed his faceup once and thought he was too gothic, but I'm back in love. ♥

XD Proportional to the number I have.

 

My dolls all have all set looks. I never change their eyes and only buy a new wig for them when the old one is worn (hasn't happened yet).
I have two or three spare wigs because with two of my dolls it took me some time before I found their look, but that's it.

For eyes, they tend to stay the same. There is one company, Kanis Augen, that I absolutely love. However, these eyes are expensive and sometimes hard to obtain, so each doll gets one pair of these. Sometimes I play around with different eyes, but for the most part, they have one set of eyes.

I'm a wigs addict though. If I could afford it, each doll would have around 20 wigs. I'm not super finicky about colour, but I try to keep most of the wigs in a similar colour range for one doll (mostly because of the eyebrows).

Yes, there are certain wigs that really don't look good on some dolls. Getting a look right is the hardest for my Soulkid.

I have three dolls to date, at least fourteen wigs, and nine pairs of eyes. However, with the eyes, three pairs were acrylic defaults, and another pair came free when I ordered some stuff.

 

I seem to have a pattern of changing eyes and wigs alot when I first recieve my dolls but eventually a combination just clicks, and then that look is set. After that, different eyes or wigs other than that just look wrong to me.

 

I do not change my dolls wig often... or at least not right now.

Right now I only have 2 dolls, about 6-7 pairs of eyes and 5 wigs. 2 wigs and 2-3 pairs of eyes are soon to be sold,while the rest will be saved for later dolls =3

The ones I have right now are "pre-made" characters, so when I got them I already knew what they would be like and they will not change anymore since I already found the best looks for them =3

I am thinking of buying one to be able to customize a lot though... I just adore~ eyes and wigs XD

They are like shoes.... you just love~ to have hundreds of them! But only use 1 or 2 pairs =P

 

1: I'm looking for other wigs with the same chocolate brown color of the wig that is Reika's character. I find it works very well with her character's eyes, but also good with diff. eyes...so I think I'll switch it around sometimes XD

2: of course not~ that's the beauty of customization, if it doesn't look right, can changed!

3: one doll, two wigs, two pairs of eyes...hoping for more someday

 

I change my dolls' wigs just about everytime I change their clothes & often change their eyes then as well. Occasionally I'll find a combo that I love & will leave them that way for a while but almost always at least the wig gets changed again.

I've never fallen out of love with a doll by changing it's looks. If I can't find another look that really pleases me, I can always go back to the way I had it.

We're not even going to discuss the number of wigs & eyes I have in comparison to the number of dolls. I'm addicted to them & buy them by the dozens though lately I find myself running short of extra eyes in certain sizes. Time to place another order.

I'm constantly changing my doll's eyes and wigs for different combinations.

No. If I don't like a look I usually just change it to something I like better.

I own four dolls, 12 wigs, and 6 pairs of eyes.

I do not change the eyes frequently, I tend to find a pair of eyes and stick with them. For wigs, I do change them often, but I always tend to go back to one specific color or style that looks best.

No, not really. It is probably the opposite, I change the wig/eyes and end up liking them more than before. If I cannot find any combination that looks right, I will probably sell the doll as it is more likely an issue with the sculpt instead of the wig/eyes.

I own 7 dolls. Eyes, I probably only have 1 or 2 extra pairs of eyes, all the others are in use. As for wigs, I probably own about 15-20 wigs ( I do not remember the exact number).

Like many people here, I agonize over choosing just the perfect eyes for my dolls. That is one of the key elements in completing their character for me...and once I find them, they do not change. I have a Pukifee, however, whose character is a shapeshifter. She would most likely change eyes if I added other faceplates down the road...that's a possiblity because I really don't care for swapping out eyes once I finally get them positioned just right. Wigs are a completely different story, however. With the exception of my Pipos anthro whose head is painted to look like a unique little 1920s bob, my girls enjoy frequent wig changes.

Nope...routine wig changes are as normal around here as clothing changes.

I like to keep a fairly small collection...it's more fun for me that way. (I'm currently up to 5, which pretty much completes my intrepid little band.) So yeah, way more wigs than dolls. And way more eyes too, since I keep trying new ones until I finally achieve the exact look that tells me they're "perfect".

Usually I create all my dolls having a special theme for them in mind (which is pretty much set). When I look for wigs and eyes matching that theme and happen to find "the perfect fit", I usually stick with it and don't change it anymore. As soon as I have decided on a wig/eye combination I like, there will be no temporary style.

But sometimes I feel like experimenting a bit wouldn't be bad. Especially for taking different photo shots changing wigs and eyes of a doll can be fun =3. But in the end, I have very specific ideas what the doll should look and be like, and thus I will settle for one definite style including firm wig and eyes.

Luckily, that hasn't happened to me yet. I usually fall in love with a doll's face, so changing her eyes/wig/outfit will not make me like her/him less ^^.

Pretty much proportionally.

I have more pairs of eyes and more wigs than I have dolls, that's true, but my collection isn't that big. All my BJD accessories are stored in one average-sized box so far .

I almost never change the eyes, but wigs keep on being changed very often.
I look at my dolls in the same way as real people - people can change their haircuts or the hair colour as much as they want, but you would rarely see people who would go on changing the colour of their eyes. One more reason for this is that wigs can be changed easily, but with the eyes there is much trouble. Plus, eyes change the face of the doll too much, and once I find a perfect pair of eyes for a certain doll, I don't want to try any other on her or him.

No, and that seems impossible to happen. I may try new eyes for a doll and if I don't like how it looks, I can simply put the old ones back

2 dolls, 7 pair of eyes and more than 10 wigs. But eyes are almost never used and I think of exchanging them to something else
