Do you change your doll's wigs and eyes?

1. Do you change his/her wigs/eyes frequently or do you settle on one combination after you've found out about you're dolls personality?


Once I find a combo I like, I stick with it. It's easier on me than having tons of floating wigs and eyes to keep track of, and I've gotten a lot better at visualizing how a particular wig will look on a particular mold so I don't feel the need to buy more than one wig for each new doll anymore.

2. Have you changed the look of you're doll and fell out of love with him/her?

Nope. Quite the opposite actually -- changing the way Hotaru and Kazuya looked made me love them even more since it brought them more in line with the way I had always envisioned their characters. Besides, I figure that if I change one of my dolls' wigs or eyes and don't like the look, I can always change it back. There's no reason to fall out of love with a doll over a wig or eyes.

3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?

I have 7 dolls, 11 or 12 wigs, and probably more than 15 pairs of eyes. The extra wigs come from my first experiments in buying dolls when I wasn't so good ad visualizing how wigs would look on different molds, and wound up buying multiple wigs for both Harumei and Ryuuki to test out different looks. There's also an extra wig floating around that I plan on styling into one of the traditional Japanese styles someday. The extra eyes are mostly free ones I've gotten from Dollmore that don't really suit my dolls, though some of them are also eyes I bought for Hotaru and Kazuya (the eyes Hotaru came with really didn't suit her and actually made her look kind of creepy, and I always wanted Kazuya to have purple eyes no matter what he came with). I'm not very good at visualizing how disembodied eyes will look with different dolls yet

I barely change her wigs now, but haven't yet found the perfect eyes for her. But I guess I'll end up leaving them after I completely defined her personality.

Not really. Every time I change her look, I find her more lovable. Must be because I find it fun

I have one doll, *counts* six wigs, and three pairs of eyes (but will probably have more eyes soon).

If I could afford it, I'd probably change their wigs fairly often...just for fun. Different wigs give entirely different results. My first doll's first wig didn't suit her at all and when I finally forked out for a brand new wig for her, I was incredibly pleased with the result. My second doll looks really different in her peach curls compared to her long wavy white hair. I think a doll can have different 'moods' and still be the same 'doll'. Like the way a person can have the same personality but have different moods.

As for eyes, I'd probably change them less frequently, if at all. Right now, I'm still trying to decide on the ideal eyes for my second.

No...It was the other way round for me. I changed her look and fell more in love with her...

I have...four wigs, two dolls, two pairs of eyes, contemplating getting new eyes...

 

i dont change because thats they way they look..... but i will change the wig type not the color because his character has that is color

Because I'm kind of paranoid about staining my doll, I change her wig every few days (about the same time I change her clothes), though for the eyes I changed it to one-size smaller since I very nearly can't see the white part with her original ones. Although after I changed the eyes, I discovered that her right eye is slightly bigger than her left. I'm thinking of getting the same eye colour a size smaller again though since I want her to have a more grown-up look, and the bigger eyes make her look young.

Not yet.

Currently 1 doll versus 8 wigs, though 1 more doll and 2 wigs are on order. For eyes, there are 5 pairs: 2 greys of different sizes, 1 blue, 1 violet, 1 yellow.

Once I get the 'right' eyes and the 'right' wig, I stick with them.

Nope, if it doesn't look good I'll just change it back.

I own more eyes and wigs than I do dolls. 16 dolls: around 25 pairs of eyes :around 28 wigs. I think. :3

It depends on who we're talking about. Yumiko-tan cosplays, so she has four wearable wigs, and one that's just too thrashed to wear and needs serious attention to get wearable again. She also has three sets of Volks Animetic H-type eyes, and I explain the reason her eyecolor can change by saying "oh, Yumiko wears contacts depending on what cosplay she does." Zetto doesn't cosplay, so his eyes remain consistent. However, I have a wig on order from Parabox to experiment with. He might do way better with black hair than the dirty blond hair he's got now. If it doesn't work on him that's yet another wig to play with in the future with Yumiko.

Yumiko is still Yumiko regardless of the eye/hair color change. Zetto is still Zetto. The personality is the total package. I love 'em both. And I love my 1/6 scale brood I can't talk about here.

Yumiko: 4 wearable wigs, 1 non-wearable wig in need of attention, three pair of wearable eyes, one pair of realistic glastics that don't look right in an Anime style head. Zetto: 1 wig with one on the way, and 1 pair of eyes.

I tend to want to sort out their hair and eye colors at the beginning and then keep it consistent for the most part, since it feels like an integral part of their character. That's not to say I would never change them, but I prefer different styles in the same color or color range (representing haircuts or updos or similar changes) over a wide variety of colors and styles. Eyes I change even less frequently, though my new girl who will cosplay will probably wear colored 'contacts' on occasion. Now, because I know this is my tendency, and I want to take advantage of the tremendous flexibility afforded by the changeability of the dolls, I have designed my second girl's personality somewhat around this, so that she is prone to messing with her hair all the time. She likes coloring, straightening, curling, and cutting her hair, and it's always changing, so I can indulge my wish for a variety of colors and styles while staying true to her character.

Not yet, but I have tried some wigs on my girl that were definitely not 'right', and so they don't come out very often.

Well, currently I have one doll with one on the way, and I think I have... five or six wigs. One of those was purchased for the doll who is en route, so it doesn't quite count, but the other ones were purchased in my quest to find the perfect hair for Miriam. Her brown hair is actually sort of challenging to find (there seems to be a wide variety of blonde, red, and black, but proportionally little brown), so I ordered several wigs before finding one that gave me that true brunette color I was looking for. I think, once I figure out which of the spares will suit Midori, I will probably go ahead and sell or trade the extra ones, since they have all been worn only once or twice each, but for now I'm hanging onto them. I would like to get her as many as 4, perhaps, if I can find more in the correct color and suitable styles. Midori will end up with more wigs than that, though, because her hair colors are more changeable and crazy.

As far as eyes, I have two pairs that don't fit either of them, two pairs that fit Miriam that are the wrong colors for her (though one or both of them will be going to Midori), and one pair in the right color and size that she wears constantly. I would like to upgrade them (I don't think they show their color very well in photos), but I won't be changing her eye color.

 

I don't change their eyes much, but I change their wigs. After all people can change their hair colors and styles very often.

 

Right now I feel my doll is an empty shell. Sure, I'm getting to know her and stuff but her eyes and hair are just... blah. I got the eyes I wanted, though, and I don't plan on changing them unless I find a better looking pair, though they will stay the same color. And I plan on doing the same thing with the wig. I'm having trouble finding a good purple wig, though.

I changed their hair regularly depend on their stories at that moment. For eyes, i don't change them as much as the hair.

Some wigs and eyes could make them look wacky or weird, but i never fell out of love with them. When it happened i treated it as bad hair moment XD

I have more eyes and wigs than the dolls. In total, i have 3 dolls, 14-15 wigs and 6 pairs of eyes at home, and 2 wigs, 3 pairs of eyes and one doll on the way.

I change some of my doll's wigs, and not others. They mostly stick to one colour, though, since my main chameleon doll had most of her optional wigs claimed by others
Eyes I change every so often to improve on the look of the doll, 3 of my dolls have changed eye colour at least twice now, but I like the changes. I'd get bored if I didn't change anything about them ever...

Nope, if anything it's been the opposite way round. Every time I change a look, I love the doll more. Changing looks has stopped me from selling a couple of my dolls, as well, and now I couldn't even think of sending them on!

I haven't counted lately, but at least 7 pairs of eyes that aren't used, and about 10-12 wigs more than dolls to wear them? I need more, as well, for incoming dolls...

 

let me see, I have 2 sd's, one msd and one tiny, the sd's between them have 5 wigs, the msd-girl has more, about ten maybe? the tiny has 5 wigs and as for eyes, all the bigger dolls have size 16 for eyes, so they can share, but I have lots of different eyes, I just love collecting them XD. to date I've only sold one pair of eyes and given one other pair away as a gift 8)
my dolls have fixed looks when it comes to haircolor for now, but I might change, we'll see 8)

Well, Lex started out with black hair and hazel eyes; however, the hazel eyes were supposed to be brown. Now he has white hair and red eyes, which I don't plan to change, unless the wig disintegrates >.<

I haven't ever done this and don't think I will; he looks fab even when he's bald~

I have one doll, three wigs, and three pairs of eyes.

I like to play with my dolls looks. Some of them have their look and stay with it (like my Glot Astrid...her look doesn't change), where I like to switch up Anna's for different photos. She has a signature look but I like to change it up time to time.

Nope, if I don't like a certain combo on her I change it. I think being able to play with the various styles is part of the fun of having a BJD.

LOL, wigs and eyes out number the dolls. I have 6 dolls and I think about 14-15 wigs and alteast 16-17 pair of eyes.

1. I usually settle down to one wig and pair of eyes. At least Michael has always had the same eyes and wig. Azrael on the other hand owns 4 wigs but there are only 2 that I use frequently. It depends on what clothes he's wearing to them actually.

3. I own 3 dolls (soon) and I have 6 wigs. 4 of the wigs are for the same doll and it accidentally ended up that way XD
I also have 2 pairs for each of my 2 boys and 1 pair for my girl, making it 5 pair eyes in total.

I bought a dreadlock wig with beads intending it for a Capt. Jack Sparrow-type pirate doll.
I was shocked when my girl doll claimed it for her own. It has completely changed her personality; she's a real tart now.

I change my dolls wig according to her outfit and surroundings. I never change her eyes and I don't own an extra pair or anything, she has the ones she arrived with.
