Do you change your doll's wigs and eyes?

All of my dolls are based on my characters, so I don't change wigs/eyes often, unless they are the same color, but even then they are very similar to the originals.

 

1. Do you change his/her wigs/eyes frequently or do you settle on one combination after you've found out about you're dolls personality?
No, I prefer to have that one perfect hair/eye combo. However, I'm thinking of getting some extra heads for my next doll to switch. XD; But even then each one has sort of a distinct personality/look and will have just one set.

2. Have you changed the look of you're doll and fell out of love with him/her?
Yes, for sure!! I didn't fall in love with my Bambicrony Emily until I got her a pair of Mystic eyes. I've tried changing them since, but with glass or acrylic she just looks lifeless. I also recently discovered my other doll looks off in anything besides his $3 diy acrylics. So that was quite a bit of cash down the drain on custom ED urethane eyes. >_>;

3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?
I own 2 dolls (+2 heads on the way) and 4 wigs. 6 sets of eyes, but the extras are going up for sale shortly.

I usually settle on colours almost immediately, for example, I knew Ed would be a brunette with green eyes, and Maika was a redhead with golden brown eyes. Usually it doesn't take me long to come up with a colour combination- usually a few days after the doll gets home.

I'm always afraid I will! I made Morghan a brunette for awhile, because I was having such a hard time finding wigs for him, and I really didn't like the result at all. It wasn't my Morghan- he was most definitely blonde with straight hair, the complete opposite. I ended up buying him a blonde wig similar to the other 3 he'd owned. Then I changed his eyes, and while I wasn't wowed by the change, I definitely liked it better then the weird default Glastics he'd been floating around with.

3. How many dolls do you own compared to the amount of wigs and eyes you have?
hmmm.... around 6 wigs, and 10 pairs of eyes, versus 8 dolls (counting two who aren't home yet). It's not a bad ratio... until I add the fact that I didn't count the wigs and eyes the dolls are actually wearing.... >.<;;

yes,I often change their wig and eyes.

I only have one at home right now, and he stays constant. The one I ordered may take a bit of tweaking, however.

No; when he did get his proper wig, I loved him just as much or more. And changes his eyes from what he came with REALLY helped XD

One doll at home, 2 pairs of eyes, 3 wigs. He only uses one wig and one pair of eyes; the rest simply came with him, and I don't particularly like how they look on him.

I don't change Chae-ri's eyes because it's too difficult, but I change her wig all the time. She has her "default" pink fuzzy wig, of course, as shown in my icon; but she has a great many more styles and she loves to dress up.

Well, other than ruining a faceup here and there, not really. I love Ri-ri's current look.

Chae-ri has over twenty wigs. Seriously. She wears some more often than others, of course.

I change frequently, but my doll has a unique look that the interchangeable pieces all conform to. Dark hair, light blue or violet eyes. He currently has 6 wigs and 3 sets of eyes. I change my hair frequently so it's natural to me.

Fallen out of love? No, not yet. But there have been some looks I tried for him that weren't right and made him feel "strange" to me. He didn't feel like my doll anymore until I changed him back.

Currently I have one doll, 6 wigs, and 3 sets of eyes. Hair is my main thing I like to shop for.

In cases of my spiritdoll I change the wig every now and then, mostly just for fun. I changed one eye to a steampunk eye just to see how it looks, but it's not for my character. I wont really change the eyes, since they fit the look perfectly.
In cases for my yosd's, they are both 'demons' so when their about to change or upset theyre eyes change. My Hide's wig is permanent since he was designed to look like a famous musician his eyes are either black or a metallic silver. Lotus eyes go from green to red.

No, actually it feels like they demand change on their own for the better.

I have 4 full dolls, one head. I have 14 eyes and wigs.

Well for Juliette i had a pre-designed idea of her personality, wig, eyes, and clothes. However i found out you can't really do that all the time. Sometimes a doll ends up not suiting what you had in mind. For Juliette the wig i spent weeks searching for turned out to not suit at all despite being a lovely wig and exactly what i had in mind apparently it's not what Juliette had in mind. lol.

Once i figure a doll out though i do like to stick to one combo.

Nope. It works quite the opposite for me. If i change their look it's usually for the better and makes me love them more.

Well just counting Juliette 2 wigs and soon to be 2 sets of eyes .But that's just because her defaults really didn't suit.

I dont change my dolls' wigs/eyes at all once they have a wig/eyes that suits them. They will wear them foreverrrrr. I may upgrade the wig/eyes if their defaults are old/unusable though.

Nope. It actually makes me like them more ;3

I have wayyyyyy too many wig/eyes for just a few dolls, ahahah~

 

if my doll already has a set personality, i won't change it .. BUT! i would use a story or something to change trivial things like a wig for example ~ if my doll is really conservative, then i probably won't give her a provocative wig or something ~ but i might say that she changed a different hairstyle (still conservative) because she felt like it

so it would have to stick to her personality ~ (at least for photoshoots)
if i sometimes change the wig that does *not* suit her personality, then it's probably just for testing or a very short moment ~
and usually wont' be going on camera (or at least to the public~)

hmm, for your second question, that's never happend, because if the moment i put a new wig on or eyes, and feel uncomfortable with it, i'd just change it back right away (unless you're talking about faceups.. in that case i haven't changed the faceups on my dolls -- and probably never would)

7 dolls to their respective 7 wigs, and then i have 4 extra wigs for role-playing / story-shooting purposes

 

I'm quite happy with my girl's eyes and wig right now, but I'm toying with the idea of upgrading her eyes to a set from my fave eye manufacturer, and I'd like to get her another wig to reflect her hairstyle from a certain timeline of my story, problem is, it's difficult to find a wig that looks similar to that style.

I usually settle on whatever combination I want for the character, and stick with that. Occasionally, there might be a wig change though. The only exception, is if the character's eyes/hair change colour.

No, although, I did change something on the faceup on one of my dolls, and I thought I didn't like her as much. Then I wiped the faceup and I love her again.

I have one spare wig and I am short 2 pairs of eyes. I am going to be ordering some new eyes soon though, I like the idea of having a lot of them lying around

 

iv never changed mine's eyes. i love his eyes but i have 2 wigs and i change between them. but i can never keep them from falling off (any advice on how to keep them on would be greatly appreciated ) iv never fell out of love with him though just irritated at it falling off all the time

For the most part, I keep them the same. I may change to a wig that is a different style but same color.

No, but I did fall back in love with one of my dolls once I finally got the right style wig for her.

I have one permanent wig and set of eyes for each of my dolls and then around 5 to 6 spare wigs and 3 to 4 pairs of spare eyes (all spare wigs and eyes either came with one of my dolls or were a purchase that didn't work out for what I had originally planed)

I do not change my dolls eyes/wigs frequently because I settle on one combination for my dolls.

depend, for some dolls I love them more afer I changed their look but some dolls I fell out of love.

3-4 wigs for girl, 2 wigs for guys and 1 set of eyes for each doll.

Eyes, no. Wig, yes. I love having different kinds of wigs. It's fun to change them and see how different it makes your doll look.

Not at all. There'll be the odd wig that doesn't look as good on a doll, but that doesn't make me like my doll any less.

I have two sets of eyes for the one doll that is here.
But wigs... I have quite a few wigs. That's mainly because my second doll was supposed to be another MSD girl, some of the wigs are for her. Curse, you Soom!

I change wigs wildly and frequently, mostly to match outfits that vary greatly, also. Eyes, not as much, but will also change them to match outfits... It's just easier to change wigs than eyes!

My dolls have names and personality, but I most often use them as actors who will dress up and play different characters, no matter what their personality is... And the personality is not the strong point with my dolls anyway. I mostly buy dolls that appeal to me. I am not shelling characters. So I'll also buy wigs and outfits that appeal to me and will dress up my dolls however I feel like doing--not worrying about their personalities. Basically, they are cosplaying or acting or whatever... Rather than being a certain character ALL the time.

Never. I dress them how I like. If something doesn't look right, I'll change it to something else. I'm constantly falling in love with all the new looks all the time. It's like getting a new doll! and if I want the old doll, I will change them back...

I own probably 5 or so wigs per doll... maybe more. Eyes... maybe 3 per doll. And they all swap and share, if they can.

 

I totally second what april just wrote. I couldn't have wrote it better. My dolls are vehicles to express all the different creative ideas for clothing and fashion that I could never afford to make or wear IRL.

Once I've found the perfect wig style/colour and eye colour, I'll stick with it. I'll probably buy new eyes in the same colour to try them out and if I don't like them, I'll sell them on. The same with wigs. I generally know my dolls wig colour and eye colour default before I buy them; so I'll just be on the search of the perfect wig style and eye style in those colours.

If I changed the wig and eye colour totally, it wouldn't feel like the same character anymore. My characters have all been "alive" for longer than I've known about dolls, so it'd feel weird. I wouldn't know unless I did it.

I own more clothes than wigs/eyes. I have about 3 sets of eyes, 1 wig and more clothes than I myself own. So, the ratio of dolls, wigs, eyes is 1:1:3.
