1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you collect PHOTO's of BJD's?

May 25, 2008

    1. All the time! everytime I see a beautiful doll I save a picture  I actually think it would be really cool if bjd owners were to exchange wallet size photos of their dolls, kinda like how people exchange business cards in Japan, so you can have a collection of wallet sized photos of dolls you've seen in person, kind alike a little souvenier, I think that would be real cool :sweat

    2. I never thought about saving pictures of other people's dolls. Don't know why...
Now that I think about it, I do recall my bf saying 'Why don't you just save the pictures of the dolls you like and enjoy them from there instead of working your butt off to get them all?'

    3. YES! I also have a folder of molds I like saved with the names of the molds so when I get up the money I can get them xD.... All my photos are categorized...

    4. ame_hime that's a great idea!

    5. I definitely collect photos of dolls - either as inspiration (for photoshoots, or outfits, or hairstyles, or any number of things), and as references for my own collection (I didn't think I wanted a Heliot, because from Soom's photos he looks like a barely-altered Cuprit... but then, through looking at owner photos, I realised just how different he is from Cuprit, and now he's back on my wanted list).

I have entire folders of photos for different sculpts - I recently purchased a pair of Amber hooves, and before I did, I collected as many photos as I could of dolls wearing Amber hooves. Partly because I was a bit worried about getting a pair of two-joint hooves, but mostly because it just made me feel good about the desire I had to buy them. Seeing all the different ways that something can look amazing makes me feel more certain they'll look amazing when I have them too :XD:

    6. I'm always stalking around DeviantArt looking at doll pics. There's so many in my favorites. When I find someone whose photos I really like I'll watch them so I can see all their new photos.
When I find a sculpt I really like I make it my background where I can see it all the time. If I love it even after a few weeks I put it on the list of consideration.

    7. Yes, I either print them or save them to a folder. Last night I was searching through them looking for one. I think I need to do a better job or labeling them.

    8. I actually don't do this - but since I had my first doll, I was more into taking pictures of it rather than looking at other pictures. While I was saving for my doll, I did keep the company photo of her around me at all times. It was my on my wall, it was my wallpaper. I did it so that I could remind myself what I was saving to buy. I didn't want the image to get skewed in my mind, so that I might decide to quit and spend all my money again.

    9. I do! I made a little video-slideshow-music thing full of pictures of Soom Chrom because he's my favourite sculpt :D I have a BJD folder divided into sub folders for each company :D

    10. I collect just photo's of BJD's that i want to buy myself, because i love to make them as backrounds when i have ordered them, so the waiting time would be not so horrible ;-)

    11. I collect pictures, yes. Actually I save pictures of every single thing I like, so I remember it for buying purposes later! Just in case.

    12. I am a dollie picture hoarder XD I have a huge ever growig file.

    13. I save "inspiration" pictures. Mostly face-up inspiration, but also poses, clothing, settings, stuff like that. :)

    14. I have different folders.
One is for male dolls, one for female, one for male/female pictures and one is for references/inspiration.
The inspiration folder is full with face-ups, hybrids, tutorials and what ever I can find that might be interesting to keep. The "normal" folders are mostly for looking at pretty dolls and as collection of favourite molds (or comparisons between the same mold, owned by different owners).

I also like to collect pictures of dolls I plan to buy. Before I bought my Saint I saved tons of pictures from all the Saints I found pretty and interesting :3

    15. I do that too. I have almost 300 pictures and I've only been in the hobby for a couple of months! I love to look at pictures, and I also keep them for inspiration for my own dolls.

    16. In the beginning I did have a bunch of photos on my computer that I really liked but since it grew so big I had to downscale it a bit ^^ Now I tend to collect photos of dolls that I really want, but if it is photos that I really adore and it's uploaded on either deviantart or flickr I always put them in my favorites so I wont forget about them :)

    17. I'm not very systematic about it, but I do sometimes collect photos of faceups that I might want to reference. I also have some of dolls I really like, or great photos, or photos of customizers' work that I really like.

But really, there are just SO many great doll photos, it's impossible to really collect all the ones I'd like... my storage would be filled!

    18. yep, same here. My BJD folder is too large and I also have scattered many pics in other folders O_O I'm not organized so I have even duplicated pics.I save because of poses, ideas, lightning, the bjd itself, clothes and they are all scambled in the same folder

    19. I collect photos where I think the doll posing is particularly lifelike or interesting- so I can try such poses out in my own work. ;D I find I'm not very creative with posing unless I have some inspiration.

    20. Yes, absolutely, I save other photographs on my Flickr account as favourites where I can return and look at them again. I love saving photographs of everything from amazing face-ups to pictures of even off-topic dolls because I admire the photography. It is a perfect storage place which does not take up your space on your own computer and also a perfect place to share photos with friends, etc. Privacy settings allow you to create specific groups for delivery and where you can enjoy more discussion as well. For example, I posted photos of my Lati Lea with varying wigs to get a sense of how she looked comparatively speaking with all her photographs together and get feedback from my contacts on same.
