1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you collect PHOTO's of BJD's?

May 25, 2008

    1. I don't really. The only pictures I save are ones that I really like and would like to show my mate, to see his opinion of it, or if it is particularly useful like showing that a specific doll you like/have can in fact wear that certain outfit you've been eyeing. And every one of those that I do save are all company photos, or photos taken of a company's booth from a convention. That said I probably only have like 6 photos in total that I've saved this way.

All my other doll pics are ones I've taken myself.

    2. thats how i got started with BJD in the first place xD
      hell ya i collect
      pictures ~ ]

    3. I have folders dedicated to my favorite sculpts - just in case I ever buy one and need some faceup inspiration ;)

    4. I totally do this! For so many reasons!

      1) I'm interested in the sculpt
      2) I love the face up or an element of it and might use it one day as a reference for how to paint eyebrows etc
      3) I love an article of clothing the doll is wearing or the "look" the doll is wearing and might want to emulate.
      4) The photo has so much artistic merit that I just love to look at it
      5) The photo has artistic merit that I would like to learn from in my own photography
      6) Even more completely harmless reasons that I want to be able to look at this photograph offline or without searching DA etc for it.

I would never use my habit for evil, copying, making art from etc, I don't print them either.

I find it so annoying when I can't save an image that I want to when I know my intentions are so harmless!

    5. I don't save pictures, but I try to remember to mark pictures as a favorite when I'm on Flickr. That way I can go back to them later and the person who posted them knows someone appreciates them. Except lately (like for months) I've been really bad about not doing it, which means this weekend I'll probably spend a lot of time going through the Flickr stream and making up for it.

    6. Yep! I save pictures of BJDs on my computer whenever I see one that stands out from the rest. I need to go through the pictures and sort them, as they are sculpts I am interested in owning someday.

    7. Yes, I do "collect" photos of dolls, I guess! (I never really looked at it that way before.) ;)
My main reason for saving photos is that I love the face-up, which includes dolls that I do hope to acquire someday. :aheartbea Once in a while, I'll save pictures of outfits or accessories, too.

    8. I only have a virtual collection of doll pics on my devinatart account. Real pics would just catch dust or be left in boxes

    9. yes, i see lots of wonderfull dolls scattered around the net so i save ones that catch my eye, or ones i know friends will like, also gives me ideas for my own dolls

    10. I do collect many pictures of bjds. It started just as a folder of doll photographs that I found especially beautiful, but now I tend to save images that will teach me something-- either about photography, sewing, or (most often) face-ups & body blushing.

    11. well i don't really "collect" them, but i'll save pictures of the dolls i like so i know what to buy next lol

    12. When I first started out in this hobby I tended to save a lot of pictures. There were a lot less pictures around in those years though.

Now I only save pics if they give me a special feeling or if I believe they can be an inspiration later on (not to copy, just inspiration).

Last pic I saved was this one by Namiren here on DOA.

    13. I do that as well. Some photos serve as inspirations, others are just beautiful to look at.

    14. I don't really collect photos but I've saved a little under 20 pictures of other people's dolls. I want to keep those for inspiration (I can use rocks like *this*) and face up references (eyebrows like *this* and mouths like *that* and so on). I don't bother keeping a photo just because it's pretty because I don't want to use up all the space in my computer for doll photos! I already collect fanart of certain characters and with my own photos and psd files, I have little space and time to organize things I don't really need. :sweat I think maybe it has to do with the fact that I don't like the typical anime/big eyed/less realistic doll look that much.

    15. I did this a lot before I got my first doll, but not afterwards. I like looking at photos of other people's dolls, but the only reason I'd ever save pictures is if the sculpt is one I might buy at some point. If I'm commissioning a face-up artist, I may save pictures for a short amount of time to use as a reference - they get deleted as soon as I've sent the details for the commission.

    16. Oh yes. I still have photos I saved from the Luts and Dream of Doll websites back in 2006 when my friend first showed me bjds. >< So it feels a little surreal that I'd actually be collecting these dolls now. Not gonna lie, I'm a creeper and I have a collection of doll photos from various places: company websites, nice outfits and owner's photos that I really, really love. I keep a collection to admire and draw inspiration from, and also I save photos of certain faceups that I like so I can use them as references for future dolls if I'm commissioning someone. I just like admiring beautiful photos of beautiful things. *__*

    17. I collect pictures of everything I find inspiring, so it's really no different with dolls.
It's especially funny to go through the file again after some time has gone by and see how much my taste has changed. And then I notice how I no longer find certain sculpts I saved pictures of interesting or like others a lot better.

    18. I collect some photos to learn how different the same molds look with different make-ups. It helps to understand mistakes of other people and to find optimal variant for the certain doll.

    19. I save the companies' promo pictures of all the dolls I buy, interesting pictures of clothes for sewing, interesting face-ups or concepts and of course really awesome photos I find. ^^

    20. I don't usually save companies' pictures, even of dolls I buy (unless they're second-hand!! ^^), but I do keep a lot of photos from other BJDs that I find beautiful or intriguing o3o.
