1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you collect PHOTO's of BJD's?

May 25, 2008

    1. Oh god I have so many pictures. 3 files, BJD, Blythe, Mini BJD, hundreds in each folder. I just like looking at them sometimes, other times I save them to see other people's technique on faceups and such.

    2. I have a folder labled BJD's, and subcatagories such as NANA (I wanted to have dolls based on the manga series), my bjd's, and msd's.
I love having folders for pictures, I have dial up out where I live and it's nice to just browse through my folders and not wait for images to load on websites.

    3. I save hundreds of pictures of BJDs that I love even though I'll probably never own them. I just like to look at others' dolls to get inspirations or just to admire

    4. I have a folder named BJD, and inside that folder I have other folders, separated by company name, size, 'other' if i don't know. Some have names after future dolls, with pictures that are used for inspiration in face-up, wig, fashions...
1,5 GB worth of BJD pictures... I'm getting out of control!

    5. I have lots of pics of my own dolls but I don't save pics of other people's doll on my computer. I look at lots of dolls on flickr though and mark a lot of favourites to look at them again and again.

    6. I tend to save pictures of sculpts tbat I really love, that might fit a character, or pictures when someone did something I greatly admire with a doll. Photos come and go on the internet, and dolls change hands and then have all their pictures removed. If I really love a photo or want to make a record of a sculpt's versatility, saving the photo for personal reference is the only way to ensure it will be there when I want to reference it. The sculpts that I love tend to be off-beat, so fhere aren't that many pictures to save.

    7. Yes! I often find myself saving a particularly gorgeous photo or even one that just seems 'neat' to me... Sometimes it's a visual reminder of the sort of style I'd like to own one day, others it's simply so I can look at what I feel are the best examples of the Hobby. Costumes, faceups, or even blank sculpts fill up my 'BJD' folder.... I'm pretty certain I've got more pictures of other folks resin kids than of my own! ^_^;

    8. yes i do like to save pictures of bjds that i find very unique and beautiful. mainly because of the way they are styled. i put them in my "art" folder rather than a doll folder. i am an artist so these dolls inspire me very much.

    9. A lot of people on deviantart don't want people to take their photos and upload it on other sites. Btw. You should ask first

    10. I tend to save pictures of different sculpts that I like and as a reference to compare and contrast to how many different looks one sculpt can have.
Its always inspiring to see the many different faceups a doll can have that makes it unique to the owner of the doll since even though some owners may have the same sculpt, not one doll is the same. Which is cool in my opinion.

    11. Yup. If its a great photo and especially if its a sculpt I like I will save them, I have a file on my computer full of other peoples dolls.

    12. I did this for a few years, but I don't anymore. I never looked back at those pictures, so they were just taking up space.

    13. Yes I do. I have 3 different files (bjd inspiration, DC, and DD).... all for referencing and inspiration.

    14. I am guilty of this!
But sometimes I just have fun scrolling through all the random bjd pics I have, and thinking about stuff that I like about dolls.

    15. Oh, I so definitely do this! Especially when I was first beginning the hobby, and I liked basically every doll ever and was trying to decide on a first purchase, I went download-crazy in the Gallery section. :sweat

Even now, looking at those photos makes me very happy, and I've continued downloading photos over the years as well. I usually label them with the owner's ID and sculpt for easy reference, and it reminds me when I'm in the mood to check for new Gallery listings from the same forum member. Sometimes I can ever curb the impulse to own a particular doll if I have enough photos of it!

    16. Yep, but generally a much smaller file than it used to be because it has gotten more focused as I've narrowed down my hobby preferences and eliminated many from my potential wish-lists. An entire scale, several types, several companies and 2/3 of most male dolls don't fit into my preferences. Also, I don't personally care for most casual stylings or fake fur wigs either, for example... so I'll only save something out of my range if it stands out as unique in some significant-to-me way. I still save most every Lusis example I find though ;) And more art dolls.

    17. Sometimes if I find a photograph that's particularly inspiring I will save that aside to look at when I feel the need or desire to. There are so many wonderfully creative things done in this hobby I believe it's inevitable to eventually do that!

    18. I do not collect pictures and do not save them from the Internet, I am not a fan of watching other people's dolls.

    19. I've got a Pinterest board of dolls I admire.

    20. Not only in My Pictures file but backed up on my Flash Drive as well! Great for remembering certain concepts I love or just a doll that is totally gorgeous to me. Glad I'm not the only one!!
