1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you collect PHOTO's of BJD's?

May 25, 2008

    1. I only collect pics of the dolls i intend to buy or would love to own at some point, otherwise no.

    2. I only have a few photos from the doll company websites, particularly of dolls when I ordered them. It's 'anticipation' photos for wallpaper while I wait impatiently for my doll to be processed.

I have never been inclined to save other people's photos, even the stunning photos I see out here quite regularly. I guess a lot of that has to do with 'fair use' and copyright issues I deal with every day at work. While I know I would only keep them on my computer and not redistribute them, I've been pretty much 'trained' to only use, copy and/or save my own graphic materials.

If I did find an interesting photo I just HAD to have, I would definitely ask permission to save it.

    3. I often save photos of outstanding dolls that catch my eye. Also of great outfits, looks, etc. I've noticed that there are certain 'styles' that I gravitate towards, and if I keep track of the trends I like then I don't waste as much money buying stuff on impulse (omg, it's on sale! grabby hands... oh noes, why did I buy this, I don't actually like it at all!)

I also recently collected all the photos I could find of my latest doll crush - Volks SDC Kurt. I wanted to make good and sure that I REALLY REALLY REALLY liked him before ordering. So I did DoA searches, Google image searches, etc. and stored most of the results in a folder on my desktop. I'd then flip through the company pics and owner pics that I had gathered and study them whenever I was bored. I even made a particularly beautiful image of him my wallpaper for a few days! Finally, I decided that he was the doll for me, and ordered him (and got him Saturday, and love him dearly :D ).

I don't see a problem with it (as far as copyright, etc, goes). I only save the pics for my own use, and it saves me so much time trying to go back and find images that I may have come across (which is the most frustrating and time consuming waste ever).

Edit: I plan on getting an FCS doll sometime in the future, and I will totally scour the earth for Volks doll pics to be used for reference by the makeup artists. I will be 'omg, I LOVE THESE EYEBROWS' *click, save* 'this mouth, that color' *click, save*. Erm, I can be a little bit obsessive perfectionist at times? :sweat

    4. I have a folder called 'Dolls I love' and it's my favorite pictures, or pictures with clothes I'm inspired by, or a doll I want someday...it's a really varied folder. XD But some pictures just speak to me and I want to hang onto them. X3

    5. I have a large collection of BJD photos. I have to save all the pictures I think are beautiful, and I come back to look at them all the time!

    6. Welll...I have tons of saved doll photos...yeah. A few thousand to be honest...combined with the three computers I use, pretty much!

A ton are my own, edited here and there, but the majority are from people on DoA and DA...a few from company sites. I like to print up the extra nice ones and put them on my door or in my bedroom ^ ^ I've been known to use a few here and there for school projects as well...mine though, no one else's of course.

I love collecting doll photos :3

    7. How do those who have dolls feel about people maybe saving pictures or thier dolls?

I would never reuse someones without giving them credit though. But I just wonder if it makes others nervous??

    8. I do. I'm glad I do because I can go back and look at the gorgeous pictures instead of searching hours on end to find it. Whenever I get my doll and if I take good photos of him and post him here. I don't mind if people save them as long as they don't cailm them as theirs or post the picture everywhere without saying it's my doll. I wouldn't do it to someones pictures I have saved. They're for my eyes enjoyment, not for spreading around places. If I want someone to see a gorgeous picture, I'll just direct them to were they can see it that was posted by the owner.

    9. No. I have too many pictures of other things. I wouldn't have room >_< too many beautiful dolls.

    10. I save them as reference pictures, whether they're for face-ups or particular sculpts I'm looking to buy. They help me decide what to do. And I love looking at all the beautiful dolls :]

    11. Yes, sure. I love to save pics about bjds, and add to favourits the links i love. Also use sometimes as wallpaper on my desktop.

    12. Yes I do.
I usually collect pictures of dolls I plan on buying or dolls on my wishlist or sometimes pictures of dolls by faceup artists that I like.
Sometimes I'll also take pictures that I just find cute,
I never use them for anything though. I just look at them.

    13. I too collect photos. <3 They're saved on my Ipod as well as my computer, so I can look at them anytime I please.

    14. I usually save the ones I like or where it appears something that I am or I can be interested in.
In the past I used to save much more pictures than now because it was easier to get impresed for a picture of a doll, but I still save a lot.

    15. I have been trying not too, but I think after reading ppls post here I'll let myself go and save one or two occasionally ^^

    16. I do not have a doll folder... but I do save about every BJD Photo I like on my computer :)

But now I think I will make one folder for all of them >w<

They are just to pretty to not look at!!!!

And It gives inspiration for my own :3

    17. I usually save beautiful custom repaints that I find... because I'm always amazed at what people can do... and saving them ensures that when I want to show it to someone later, it will still be there!

Rarely ever do I save a company default pic.

    18. I don't save photos, per say, but the cards a lot of companies send out with dolls and clothes and the like? Every one of those that I've gotten is on my way above my desk. I love looking at them.

    19. i have a folder of the only doll i wanna have...both boy and girl!! XDD

    20. I save a bunch of photos of the dolls I really want, and if the doll gives me an idea for a piece, whether its the pose, colour scheme, face up, outfit, or something that I find really funny. Not to mention another folder filled with pictures from the couple of meets I was able to go to. I try not to save too many, but sometimes it just cannot be helped.
If I heavily referenced a picture of a doll (or anything that wasn't my own for that matter) in a piece, I give credit, otherwise I just keep the images there for my own enjoyment :3
