1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you do box opening video everytime?

Feb 24, 2015

    1. I didn't have a chance because my mom and aunt were rushing me. *_*

    2. It's risky, but I never do video. I want to quickly unpack my treasure, it paralyzes my will)

    3. Its fun to do and definitely can be used as an evidence In case of missing/Damage items, I did it 3 times out of my 8 dolls, not every time I'm in the mood to do it also it takes a little bit of me enjoying my items as I care more about if every thing is showing on the camera instead of taking my time looking at them and enjoying them direct out of the box, with regards to prove its not a recast I wouldn't worry that much about it as I have the certificate of authenticity for all of them

    4. I don't do videos as I don't really like the sound of my voice. But I take photos. This has become a habit now. everytime I buy something, I'll do box opening pictures even for small items like hooks and facemasks.

    5. I always mean to but I never do because I don't want to show my ugly mug on camera or realise that it's too late because I already opened the package.

    6. I never take a box-opening video. I rarely even take photos of a box-opening, although I usually do take a photo or two once the doll is unpacked.

    7. Everytime. I did my first BJD opening video and planing on doing about every doll and items I am getting.
This is like a self record. I want to have it in my memories and channel forever.

    8. I take photos every time, for a couple of reasons. Photos help me take my time and not rush into the process. It may seem silly but after all the wait I don't want to just rip into the box. Taking it apart piece by piece is... Relaxing in a sense, and I usually do it by myself. It also helps me remember the little details I would've forgotten had I not taken pictures. I still have pics from my first box opening, and that's how I know the exact day I received it! I also love looking at box opening threads/videos. I don't plan to have a doll from every company, so for the brands I probably won't have, it's fun to see how they're all packaged differently, and it's nice to have the opportunity to share in someone's excitement. I haven't done a video myself, but that's mainly because I'm not big in the idea of being seen or heard. I have thought about it, and maybe I'll do one in the future because I seriously hadn't considered using it to prove that something was missing. That's a great idea!

    9. I prefer taking photos. I can focus on the best parts and stop to pose my dollies.

    10. I actually feel the same way about taking photos. Pausing at each step to get a picture helps make the process take a bit longer, rather than being rushed, and makes it more enjoyable overall. There's something special about a new doll, and it's nice taking the time to remove the company wrappings and reveal all their hard work. Besides, we're always all in such a hurry, anyway, why not slow down and enjoy the box opening? :)

    11. I have taken photos but never videos. I just don't like that way I sound on camera so I avoid it when I can.

    12. No, I never do box opening videos. If there was something wrong with the packaging/doll then I would obviously take photographs as proof but as I've never really had that problem it hasn't been necessary. Most bona fide companies that want repeated custom won't quibble it if you contact them ASAP to notify them that your doll has arrived damaged and needs replacement parts. Photographs suffice, videos aren't typically needed. I have no interest in taking videos of me opening up my dolls and I only like to watch box openings of rarely seen dolls otherwise they bore me.

    13. i have never done box opening videos or even photos. the closest i come is that i sometimes take pictures of the doll right after opening if it is a newer sculpt. that way people get a chance to see what the blank sculpt looks like. i guess i'v been lucky 'cause ive never had a doll arrive damaged or missing anything. i did think one of my dolls was missing her eyes once, but i found them taped to the inside of the head when i took it apart to paint.

    14. I've never actually done a doll box opening video, and I got my first doll in 2007! I once did a video for a custom outfit I was very excitedly waiting on, but once it actually arrived and I pulled it out, I was SO disappointed. It was actually pretty crushing as it wasn't a particularly cheap outfit either, and I didn't want to post a video of me opening a package and looking like I was about to cry so I never even put it up.

However, I want to start making videos again soon, and as I'm waiting on two Doll Leaves order (one of which I THINK is scheduled to arrive before the end of the month!), I think I'll nab the opportunity to finally make a doll opening video :)

    15. I don't do videos. It's really hard for them to be very good. Usually they're a long time consuming exposition of a process that isn't all that interesting to begin with especially since people are letting their laptop webcam record and the autofocus is terrible and often you see more of the person than the doll. Though I have seen some where the person takes a lot of care but I find that rare. I don't even look anymore. I think photo shoots are better because they convey more tightly focused visual information. For myself I shoot all my box openings as photo stories and they are more about the characters then the opening process itself since I seek to entertain more than inform so probably my box openings are big failures as well.

    16. i always get way too excited and forget to do a proper video haha i just take photos if i remember to :P but sometimes i am too excited to do that either and it totally slips my mind. i love watching them, though. it's fun to see how happy people are and their reactions. it also gets me pumped up in general about how great the hobby is.

    17. I did a box opening video for my first doll, but didn't video the second doll box opening and I really regret it tbh. I wish I could've captured the moment I opened my Ringdoll after waiting for him for so long :(

    18. I've never done a video before myself... I used to get annoyed when I'd go to look at box opening photos and be linked to a video instead, because I do so much of my internetting while in the family room with the TV on, so I can't really just watch a video, if someone else is using the TV at the time. Only recently I started looking at box opening videos on youtube, just waiting until I had the room to myself before browsing.

Now I feel like maybe the next time I order a doll, I should do a video. I could always take pictures as well, really-- or just grab stills while editing. But the videos just seem like a lot of fun and it's really turned my old feelings on them around.

Plus, as it's been mentioned, a box opening video would be proof that something was damaged when it got to you rather than some kind of scam on your end when you request a company fix something... though I hope I never need that!
