It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do You Dress Your Dolls to Suit You, Or Them?

Nov 20, 2008

    1. My OT dolls dress as their characters, not as I would dress. I have a tomboy girlie and it would just seem too strange for me to put a cute dress on her...

Someday I may have a doll who's character is similar to my own, so she'll wear similar clothes to what I would wear or like a lot, but only if her as a character would CHOOSE to wear the clothes.

      Haha, that sounded strange...

    2. A bit of both? I guess? My dolls live in a fantasy world, and so theoretically, I designed their country's dress (semi after my own tastes of course). However, each character still has their own personal style of dress that, quite frankly, I get little to no say in ^^; (and sometimes don't quite agree with! aka. "you are not going out of the house dressed like that young lady!" But at the same time, I couldn't imagine the character dressing any other way.)

If my characters did wear the styles I like (even in their world's constraints) I'd imagine shopping for/designing outfits would be so much easier!

    3. I am still saving up for my first doll, but since I plan on getting two wigs (at least) and a few sets of eyes for her I will have at least one character who will get clothes to suit them, and one that will be a mini-me and wear what I wear.

    4. my girl suits normal cloaths and am in the process of making a summery dress and i know she would suit the loli style but never gothic or punk, perhaps i need another doll to satisfy my gothic needs ;)

    5. I created my girls' personalities to suit the clothes I like so it isn't much of a problem. I have stuck my Breccia into more modern clothing just to keep her from wandering around nekkid. But my story lines cover all time periods and dimensions, so I give myself a lot of room for play. lol

    6. Through my dolls I can create characters/personalities that I could never be in "real life." So I dress my dolls to fit their personalities, which are never like I am in real life....it is a form of escape I suppose.....;)

    7. Mostly, I dress my doll the way I want it to be but sometime I must admit that my style make my doll looks bad and had to change it.

    8. i don't know XD
i buy clothes when i see they are nice or with good price, and then i put on my boys, randomly. basically they share all the clothes i have. only one has his own outfit, but only because is the only one that fits in it :P

    9. Since they are inanimate objects when you dress them to suit them (the character you have bestowed upon them) you are suiting yourself. This seems like the only clear option. The alternative would be to dress them the way other people tell you to and where is the fun in that.

    10. I dress them for me, but sometimes they don't look quite right in the outfit. I get a feel for who they are and what they like.
I have one that does not like colors. He will only wear black and/or white. He doesnt look good in colors.
So, in his case I dress to suit him.

    11. wel one of my girls seems to have a personality that matches mine alot...we have matching cosplay costumes...
I have noticed some of my girls that I have a harder time bonding with...it is harder for me to dress them up sometimes :(

    12. Well, with Letty.. I never really had a set idea of what type of clothing her character would wear... so I really ended up dressing her for me. Everyone tells me she looks very rockabilly. :)

With my girly I have coming, Avery, I actually plan on dressing her in what her character would wear because I have a better feel of her taste in clothing...

Maybe it's just that Letty doesn't care what she wears... Hm.. I don't know.

    13. Hmm, I think I get stuff to suit the doll/character rather than myself. Because I honestly wouldn't wear a lot of the clothes I see available for dolls :P But I guess what I get for them is still restricted to my tastes, I won't get them something which looks absolutely hideous (unless that character is supposed to wear such clothing).

    14. I dress them to suit their characters. But it's finding the right stuff to let them wear that's my new problem.

    15. I like to believe I dress them to suit them. Weather it be their age, or their personality, or both esp. in the Littlefee area as Yotsuba is my wild child and dresses as one with nothing totally matching. Where as Kisa & Tohru are more calm and laid back and dress as a more normal scheme. My 2 SD who are male & gay do not go wild with color, but dress fashionable and neat.

    16. I dress my current boy the way I think he'd like to dress, but with my next one he's gonna be a bit more "me-like" i.e. he likes crazy hair colours and random fun stuff. But I guess it'll still be "his" style, just highly influenced by me ;]

    17. I dress them in what I like ^^° and what fits their character. My girls shall be feminine, modern, elegant ... but when it comes to me, I don't like Lolita or Gothic or Punk stuff, so my girls will never wear something like this ^^ I like to dress sporty, comfortable. I guess my girls look more elegant than me - haha

    18. It depends on what I'm feelin like, but its usually dependent on my own mood.

    19. My dolls arent specific characters and I dress them in clothes I like, before when I dressed them as characters I got quite bored of being limited. I guess now that theyre the happy medium of 'characters' which just happen to have my taste in clothes.

    20. ahah good question XD
I actually dress her and will dress the others to suit their character , principally!
But of course, I try to get things which are in my tastes too.. not ALWAYS.. sometime I just can't .. but I can limit this XD
for example, ok for frilly outfits (i personally hate them!) but not for pink or fuxia things, that's just an example..sometime you just can't limit a doll personality, other times you HAVE TO!
      XD
