Do You Dress Your Dolls to Suit You, Or Them?

Nov 20, 2008

    1. I try to do a bit of both. There are so many outfits I'd like for him, but they wouldn't fit his character. So, I pick clothes that both he and I could "agree" on. I plan on buying him a black suit that both fits his character and well, I love a man in a suit. <3

    2. I dress my dolls to suit me and in styles I love, because my dolls reflecting some aspect of myself.

    3. Both, I suppose. I deserve my opinion on what they wear, but then they also deserve their's.

    4. Definitely them *_* Given my way I'd clothe them all in reasonably priced, easy to come by modern clothing - but their characters demand expensive period clothing

    5. I guess it's both. They do have their own characters so their clothes must fit that.

    6. Defanatly to suit the doll

    7. Mostly to suit them, when I can. I'm dealing with a character who's an indie j-rocker/vigilante, so her tastes are... eclectic, to say the least. It makes dressing her a chore. XD

    8. I normally try to dress them to match their character but I stuck my DZ boy in a dress one time and he was the wtf? But I put another one in a dress to post pictures because someone wanted to know what a Megi would look like as a girl. My megi kind of enjoyed it but my Luke didn't at all.

    9. i tend to do both. if i saw something i like, i would buy it. it is really hard to shop for my boy doll. Im current sewing whatever i can find the material

    10. Kind of both. I buy clothes that I want to see my doll in but if she doesn't look good in them I'm not going to make her wear them.

    11. This topic is working my brain! X3 Their style is based loosely on my style mainly because...well...I'm the one who created every aspect of their character. They each have a style of their own, mainly the things I wish I could wear and look as good in as they do, haha. So we'll say the style is based on them with help from me. *confusing, I know*

    12. Hmm... Mostly how it suits me. I guess I want the dolls to reflect a part of me and the things I like. Once I get going with my dolly sewing they are going to be in historical costume anyways. But even then it will be historical costume I like.

    13. This! I mean, I gave them their personalities so I gave them what they like. Although they wear stuff I wouldn't, that doesn't mean I don't like what they wear. Same goes with wigs - they get hairstyles I like but that still suit their character.

    14. A bit of both actually. I could never dress them in normal, jeans and a t-shirt since that's not what I like. So they get gothic, lolita, formal or historical themed clothing. I do try to fit it to personality of the dolls but yeah, I'm the one looking at them so I better like what they're wearing! XD

    15. All my dollies are dressed in ways to suit them, because there are some things that one girl wears that I couldn't ever imagine wearing myself.
But there is one doll, who is based off me, that yes, I dress her the way I would dress because she is me, in a sense.

    16. Well, I designed my dolls' persona to match my personal tastes...so I guess they suit me by default.

    17. Their charaters usually reflects my style, but for Aiden he dresses in more normal clothes. I have the charater in mind when I buy clothes.

    18. I agree with this. I have a couple of dolls that each have their own individual "style" that I like.

Shin has the modern, manly clothes look, like t-shirts, work clothes, and can be dressed up to perhaps a dress shirt, vest, and slacks; Azel is more dapper and wears gothic clothing; Melange is my tomboy and wears punk clothing; Natsumi is a girly-girl and wears frills, laces, and everything with a skirt, and Atelair wears lolita-esque clothing and short-shorts.

    19. Well I just got my doll a couple months ago so I am slow making a character for him. Therefore his clothing style is what I like for now. Slowly but surely Ducan (default name) will have his own style even if it similar or not to my style of clothes I like. I guess what I am saying is that is partly up to the doll and what clothes I can get or sew for him.

    20. I dress my girls in the styles to suit the personalities they have.
