1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do You Dress Your Dolls to Suit You, Or Them?

Nov 20, 2008

    1. Personally I buy/make clothes I think my dolls would like. Each of them has their own character/personality so it just seems wrong to want to force things on them. xD

    2. My dolls have their own personalities, so I dress them according to those.
It's also true that their taste in clothing is just like mine xD

    3. I try to dress them to suit me. but I've noticed...it does not always work that way. face up and wigs etc make up big part of their style. so I got only little say in their clothes xD my dolls are like annoying children who think mom's taste is too oldfashioned xD

    4. Since my dollies have personalities, I prefer they wear what would match their personalities rather than what I like to put them in.

    5. mine go by personality. yeah, i have seen alot of cute, sexy, breathtaking clothes but never hear that "voice" say mine... hit the right style though and its like they wont shut up till they get it....

    6. By personality, however, sometimes I dress my dolls just to fantasy!

    7. I like picking clothes for Ces that I'd wear if I was a boy. I wouldn't normally get the chance to explore what kind of male clothes I like and to chose them if it wasn't for this hobby so I'm really glad I can! I've also ordered some pretty clothes for the girl that I have on the way. Typically her clothes are things that I myself would wear, but I do like to pick out pretty, frilly, over the top dresses for her too (which I'd never wear in a million years - I suppose her clothes are the outlet for my seldom seen girly side!).

    8. I dress my dolls to suit them, but also, some part of each style is something pleasing to me. I mean, I don't create outfits for my dolls only to look at them and think 'I wish you didn't like that' or 'I wish you wouldn't wear that'. Of course they dress in things I wouldn't dress in myself but not in things that I hate to see on other people.

    9. Combination of both for me--said outfit has to suit both me and the doll. I have to like the outfit, but I also have to be able to picture him/her wearing it. If I can't, the outfit's a no-go, even if I like it.

    10. I dress them to suit their style. ^.^
I am currently trying to sew clothes for my dollies (I'm an okay sewer for my age) but sometimes it wont work out... :( I do see alot of doll clothes i like but they may not suit my dolls.

    11. a little bit of both. mine are based on real characters/ people.... so its kid of the clothes i would like to see those characters wear?

    12. I try to dress them how I like but sometimes it doesn't work out that way. for example, I hate pink but have three dolls that just cry out to be dressed in it, one of them cannot be persuaded into lilac instead, but at least the other two can.

I draw the line at grey. I hate that even worse than pink and simply wouldn't buy it even if a doll demanded it.

One girl was going to be a sleek-glam girl but turned oput to be a complete hippy-chick instead.

Another place I draw the line is the current fashion for low-waisted trousers.

It looks horrible and badly fitting for casual trousers like jeans, and looks even worse for formal/suit trousers (the waistband of the trousers should be completely hidden by the waistcoat - not showing at all, let alone with a huge gap between trousers and waistcoat that exposes the shirt.... {shudder!}), so none of my boys will be getting any. They'll just have to do without until I get around to making ones that fit properly.

    13. Them, definitely, I got a free dress when I ordered from muse, it was really cute but totally 180 from my girl's personality so sadly she shall never wear it.

    14. Kind of. But my boy does not like it when I try to put him in a dress. He likes stem punk outfits. :fangirl:

    15. I think I dress them to suit bothway...Will looking for some nice clothes that I like, but also will think is that suit my dolls..If it's not, I don't think I will buy those clothes..

    16. Definitely to suit him! There are some things I might buy and make him wear simply because it would be "funny" I guess to see him in it. When shopping for my doll half the time it's like "oh he'd hate me if I made him wear that!" comes out of my mouth more frequently than anything else!

    17. I kind of go for both.

I got for clothes that their character would wear, but at the same time I like to make sure they work easy enough for me to move them around in.

    18. I could answer with just one word: yes!

I'll try to remember to post a picture here when my Deena arrives, she's my daughter but also the more perfect side of me. We have many "twin" clothes, even a skull t-shirt that her brother actually stole but she can have it when posing with me! Actually, when I bought the skull t-shirt for myself I didn't remember I had one for my Deena. Maybe we just like the same clothes!

I only have one doll at home now and another one almost here, but I'm almost sure the third one will share the same style, and I think my own style is a combination that's very easy to share.

Example: Deena=Gothic, Johnny=Rock, Elias the Maybe-brother=Metal or emo, Anne the maybe-baby=nature, hippie, green, something. All of the above = their mother a.k.a. me.

    19. I dress them in clothes that suit them.

    20. To suit the character.

I have characters dressed in clothing I would never dream of wearing, but it doesn't bother me one bit. None of my characters are based on me, so I see no reason to dress them like me, unless the character share my sense of fashion (which rarely happens :sweat).
