Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Do You Dress Your Dolls to Suit You, Or Them?

Nov 20, 2008

    1. My future doll does not like frills and bows, no, they are not for her. I like them so much but will not put them on my doll. I do not know why.
But I also will never put on her anything which irritates me in clothes. And I am sure she will not ask for that. :)

    2. I dress them they way their character dress, or in something that looks right of them. It's like half what I like and half and half what suits the dolls character.

    3. I dress them to suit their characters. Kari likes to wear skirt and I hate them, she also likes to dress in one color which really bothers me too  Also Griffin dresses down, I'd like him to wear much cool stuff but he's just not that kinda guy.

    4. Well..both. I wouldn't create a doll personality that I didn't at least feel affection for in some way, even if I'm nothing like them. SO by dressing them to suit them, it suits me. That being said, sure, there are somethings my dolls get imposed upon them. Always historical or old fashioned, lots of lace, girls never in pants.

    5. I dress them in styles I like that tend to suit their overall style

    6. I dress them to suit the characters I've created for them. Recently I got my first Volks SD girl (as opposed to my SD13 girls), and I am thrilled to finally have someone who LIKES to wear frilly younger girl dresses and do cosplay. Plus although I never wear black, I have one guy who wears almost nothing except black. I like what they wear, but I would rarely wear it myself.

If I had to say I dressed like one of my dolls, I would have to say it is most like Hiro, my first SD13 Volks boy. In fact, a Volks employee at the LA store commented on the resemblance! LOL!

I agree! I have two DollZone girls, and some outfits I bought for one totally didn't suit her. I disliked the clothes on her so much, I was afraid I'd have to sell them. But I tried them on the other, and I loved them! Even though their bodies are identical. LOL!

    7. My doll wears PINK, a color that I would never be caught wearing.

    8. i dress my doll to suit him, not to suit me. although he is kind of based off myself so i guess its a bit of both?

    9. Definitely to suit them! I'm an aomoji/fairy-kei sort of girl, but I couldn't imagine Lenny wearing anything super bright and colorful. She will always be a sweet little mori girl to me.

    10. I am ordering things for my girl that I think she would like to wear that would suit her. I love the Fairy and Elf dolls so that leaves a lot to the imagination.:)

    11. I dress my girls to their personality.. but I've always been tempted to dress up my little rebel in some frilly pink dress.. but I don't want any of the other girl's outfits getting accidentally ripped because someone is unhappy in her outfit.

    12. To be honest, it's to suit me. I'm not too big on the character thing, it's sort of what looks cute to me and if it would fit the doll's body type.

    13. I dress the dolls to suit the character that I want them to portray.. But if I don't have a character in mind, I dress them to suit my tastes ;)

    14. The most simple answer to this would be saying: I dress him in the style I wish I had :)

    15. Fly's outfit I would DEFINITELY wear haha
I don't really like lolita stuff, and wouldn't want a lolita doll. My doll matches what I wished I could have for myself, and her personality is one of someone who suits her clothing :)

    16. I wish I could dress my doll to suit me. He usually just does his own thing and he has the dress sense of a four year old apparently -___-

    17. i think its both. Emiko is a tomboy, and I want her to wear outfits that i want to wear. she understands that i like her in cute dresses XD

    18. A little of both. Some characters I know what they'd wear and wouldn't put them in anything else. The others are more relaxed about clothing. Sometimes I een ask in my head who'd wear something and someone will say I'll at least try it. So it varies.

    19. I believe that when I get my doll, it'll be a little bit of both. I really wouldn't want to dress them in something that completely doesn't suit my tastes, but at the same time, it also has to fit their style somewhat. Though I feel like I may eventually break that rule in the future!

    20. Well, I think it's a little of both. I pick the doll that I love, make a character, and I pick the clothes. As much as I pick what I feel fits the doll, I'm still picking clothes I like. I think it's more of a subconscious thing, really.
